It was funny, how she knew Basil. She had been practicing some laybacks when Basil had come crashing into her, and the next thing she knew they were starting to practice together. They were both very shy and not great at talking, so Lucy had preferred to silently skate with him for a while before actually starting a conversation. They had realized how much that they had in common, and decided to skate together, which led to her being here.
Now she was pretty good at skating, and hoped to be able to get the lift this time. Lucy took a deep breath and began skating around in front of the judges, then she went towards Basil for him to lift her up and grabbed her wand, whispering the snowflake creating charm. This was a tricky move, but hopefully one that would make them come back from their disaster of a start. She wasn't about to let all of those hours of practicing go to waste.

✽Avery let the rhythm of the music flow into her movements as she worked with Mikey to make their routine picture perfect. She was amazed when their triple waist hold had worked beautifully as their spells flew into the air. It was a beautiful sight for not only her and Mikey, but also for the crowd watching them.
With a quick glance at the scoreboard, they were in first place. Avery nearly froze on the spot, but she reminded herself that if she did she would lose herself. First place. How? How had they done it? There were so many talented skaters! This was a dream come true!
Now came for the grand finale as far as she knew. She knew they had to make a bang. One even bigger than their last round. That meant they had to be risky, but not risky enough that they would risk failing. She and Mikey had worked for this moment and now that it was coming together it was as if the stars were aligning. Her joy overflowed. She could do this. Mikey could do this. They were going to make it! All they had to do was make it through the next round.

—-Tied for third or fourth was one hell of a feat when one particular Haitian wizard had no f*cking clue what he was doing on ice. Ever the thorough choreographer, Geneviève quickly ran over the routine originally planned for her original partner—deciding some last-minute changes to incorporate his strength alongside a new song—and Alphonse mindlessly nodded despite nothing registering in his thick, pubescent cerebrum. Clueless was he to the lingo and terminology of performative ice skating, but pride and confidence would be his hubris. A nervous grimace stretched across his lips once they stepped onto the ice for a moment, then exhaled to rid his nerves and deliver some semblance of a performance to the audience. Was now a bad time to say that he'd only ever roller skated, but never ice skated? As the song played and the French debutant began her awe-inspiring performance, the Caribbean-bred teen remained close and mimicked her elegant movements to the best of his ability—or there lack of. Geneviève was a sight to behold, and despite the nerves gnawing at his core not to ruin this moment for her, he felt a thrill at witnessing her here and now, rather than in his former position in the spectator stands. At the designated moments, Alphonse lifted her into two well-performed waist holds and held his breath, as if an exhale would shatter the ice beneath their feet. His eyes met hers for a hair of a moment to gaze at the smile upon her countenance; he hoped she was as proud of him as he was of her. Mikey didn’t even bother to glance at the scoreboard, though he could feel the change the instant the judges’ pens began to write. He pushed the distraction away almost as quickly as he’d acknowledged it. There’d be plenty of time for that later. For now, though, there was only the ice beneath his skates and Avery by his side.
The music pushed him forward, and he let himself get lost in the familiarity of it all. The Night We Met was wrapped tightly around his chest, and he could feel the lyrics pulling at something steady and quiet within him. Mikey tried to mimic Avery’s movement, the way her body seemed to glide effortlessly. It was almost automatic, falling into the practiced motions and letting his nerves fall away. It felt like dozens of people were waiting, watching, and ready to call him out for any mistake.
He kept his rhythm going, kept his timing going, kept himself going, all to keep in perfect sync with Avery as he guided her into the next movement, the sound of the audience’s applause becoming white noise. A deep breath in and he was ready. 'We got this' he told himself readying himself for the next maneuver.

𝒮he didn't fall on her face! Their lift had been success, as had their spells. Summer couldn't be prouder of her and Dylan and she smiled at him, a quick motion to prove she was grateful. As she was performing some of their choreo, her brain went through the next part of their preformance. The part she was slowly getting more and more nervous for. She would have to spin and then go into a jump. This time, she couldn't rely on Dylan to get her up, it was all up to her to propel her body high enough that she wouldn't fall. That seemed to be all she could think about. Not their score, not how the other teams where doing, or even the audience who's loud cheers became a faint mummer as the sound of her heart beat louder. But Summer kept a smile on her face, trying to make her moves feel effortless.
𝓣he brisk air felt was chilling, but Summer barely felt it as she glided across the ice, her skirt moving in the wind. Her nerves and beating heart warmed her body. She took a breath, only fate would decide how the next few moves would go. The double upright turn into a double axel jump. And to top it off, she would cast the snowflake spell after. If that didn't make Summer dizzy, after all that spinning, she didn't know what would. Her mind slowly strayed to that part of their performance and her heart raced faster. It surpassed that weird feel she felt around Dylan, it felt stronger. But she knew that they were two different things. She might not know what the one she felt around Dylan was, but it definantaly different... the other one felt more warm, more happy, this felt cold and scary, unsure. But she pushed it aside, trying to focus on the moves she was doing now. The turn would come, and she would be ready. But that was later.

𝓛after came to soon, as the double turn into an axel came. It wasn't just the turn that Summer was nervous for, although if she fell out of it and fell on her face... no, she mustn't think that. She had to stay positive and stay focused so that after the spins and jumps she would have enough concentration to cast the snowflake creating spell.

Laasya was thrilled. The results for the first round were announced and she and Julia were in second place with 27 points! But there was one more round left, which meant that anything could happen. But Laasya knew that even if they did not win anything, her parents would be very proud of her for trying something new. She reflected on the things that had happened to her over the last few months at Hogwarts; getting her pet cat, meeting many people, discovering her mother was very sick and now, arriving at Koldovstorez for the IMOG. Even though their first move was a bit simple, they were planning something for their last move that would be a surprise to everybody watching. The music started up again as Laasya and Julia got ready.

Laasya breezed through the routine, doing a camel and a double layback spin before doing a double lutz and toe-loop on her left, while Julia was doing the exact same but on her right. They had decided to keep most of the movements symmetrical so that it would look appealing. Laasya had butterflies in her stomach as she prepared for the final move, the one that would determine everything. They could not mess this up as if they did, they would get seriously injured and also lower their ranks in the scoreboard. The scene was gorgeous, perfect for any winter themed activity. First they did an axel to the center; Laasya form the left and Julia from the right, then they lifted their wands high in the air and whispered "Caerulimillious" and then waving their wands in a circular motion above their heads. Even though Laasya really wanted to see if the spell worked or not, she couldn't as she had to finish the performance. This was it. Laasya reached out and lifted Julia up by the waist, above her head and by the waist. She had to stay strong as if she dropped her, she could get seriously hurt. They were like that for 2-3 seconds before she put Julia down and lifted her up again through the same process. She put her down again while smiling brightly and the sound of the roaring applause make its way to her ears. Whether they won or not, Laasya had a lot of fun that day.

✽So Dylan hadn't messed everything up and was actually doing decent considering he had never really skated on ice before then. Though he would be more than happy to get back onto real not-so-slippy ground once their routine ended. The one thing he would miss was the beautiful way Summer glided across the ice as if she were born skating. How was she so good at what she was doing? Together, they looked majestic, but her? Well, she made them look flawless.
How was he going to match that? She was the calm of the storm as his nerves faded away. Maybe he could do this. As long as he had Summer by his side.
Something stirred within him. A calling that he only ever felt towards Summer. What did it mean? Well, the stars aligned at that moment. Everything made perfect sense as the song about rewriting the stars played around them as they danced.
He didn't feel that Summer was just a friend. No. His feelings ran much deeper than that. So deep that he didn't know what to feel or what to say. He nearly stopped on the ice and stared, but that would have meant they lost, so he kept moving as their final move edged closer and closer. Meaning he wouldn't get to see her graceful skating on the ice much longer.

Briefly glancing at the scoreboard, the two swans had managed to place second in the first round, tied with a pair of randoms Ula didn't even recognize. For anyone else, that might have been impressive, but Ula was not here to rank anything below gold. Getting first place was winning, everything else was losing.
Her jaw tightened as she dug her skates even harder into the ice, performing with much more intensity now, while still making it look graceful. Her fury translated into precision, into control. And yet, she dissolved into music. As their music escalated, so did their choreography. The push and pull became a story of longing told with every mirrored step, every near-touch lingering too long before breaking apart again.
Some would interpret it as a romance story, while others would interpret it as a story of inner balance—for weren't the white and the black swan just reflections of themselves?
And just like that, Ula had a sudden thought. Weren't she and Meiyu just reflections of themselves? Ula had no idea what shaped Meiyu to carry such anger today, but it reminded her of hers. And perhaps Meiyus's reasons weren't so different from Ula's. Whatever it was, Ula had made up her mind. The mystery of the black swan dancing beside her had to be unveiled. But first, winning was in order.
