The word (or maybe it was a spell; hard to tell in the moment) cut through the noise, and the vine released. Suddenly, Mamori's field of vision opened up in front of him like a door. What was on the other side of that door was, apparently, two of the most conventionally attractive people he had ever seen while plummeting.
The browner one grabbed him by the shirt — for a split second, something in his chest did something he was going to attribute to the altitude — yet Mamori's first instinct was not gratitude for the guy's upper body strength but rather a moment of genuine religious experience directed at the broom currently under his ass: a Varápidos.
An actual Varápidos!
The pink-haired Badger had personally spotted one of these on two people: Atlas and Lavinia Cloven. The latter had been such a terrifying scorer that she'd single-handedly demolished their goals in last spring's match to the point where catching the snitch hadn't even mattered. He was fairly certain the population of people who could both afford this broom and actually fly it without embarrassing themselves was a very specific Venn diagram, and he was being rescued by someone in that category. On some level he wanted to ask for an autograph. Yet the screaming around him was doing a reasonable job of redirecting that impulse, suggesting that even though he himself had been rescued, other people were still very much having a terrible time. His rescuer duo looked like they intended to do something about it.
Which brought Mamori to the issue at hand, because he had also spent enough time being a Quidditch nerd to know that a Varápidos was not a Pine Chopper nor a Blatchin' Birch. Three riders on a broom built for precision and speed (and better cheating) rather than structural generosity was not a calculation that ended well. He had zero interest in being partially responsible for snapping a two-hundred Galleon broom in half.
The second year took one breath, then another. Alive. Awesome. "Slightly unfortunate timing," the words came out at a volume calibrated to be heard over the chaos without contributing to it, "but I don't have my wand on me and my broom's back in Homestead. So if anyone has a wand to spare, I'll use it to Accio my broom over and get off yours. No point in me being dead weight, and sorry for the trouble."xx ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

┏ ┓ Just as an incantation left the tip of Pericles' tongue, his attention diverted between a hopelessly tangled @Mamori Anezaki and the vine honed on Madhup. His magic divided accordingly: violet bolts rocketed in both directions, rebuffing their advance with a flick of aspen. As Mad lunged out to drag the poor boy aboard, he felt the broom beneath them lurch downward. He nearly leapt from the Varápidos when he witnessed @Aly Salinger plummeting. The view was like a bad dream on loop, a nightmare starting with his friend being dragged out of their high house door. But before he could do anything hasty, or before Mad could follow through with pushing him off, matters finally took a turn for the hopeful. Those beautiful emerald eyes opened. Aly was awake. Unsurprisingly, she went straight to yelling at him to worry about someone other than herself, which was easier said than done.
Pericles emulated the Seeker, gripping the broom tight with one hand while reaching out with the other, as the Blue Morpho fluttering towards him was more precious than any golden snitch. Once she alighted one of his shoulders, they sank with an audible sigh. The grip fear had on his heart dissipated. Some cold little voice suggested he be content with seeing her safe, yet @Robin Marie's voice overpowered it. "Help her!" She was pointing towards the same girl Aly indicated. Her urgent note spiked a chord of urgency back into the upperclassman. Pericles' hand, which was moving to cup a protective palm over the butterfly, instead scooped her up with a breathed apology. He twisted back to the Puff sandwiched awkwardly between Madhup in the saddle and himself seated sideways on the front. "Protect this with your life," the Ravenclaw instructed, bestowing the bug onto his arm. Peri proceeded to lean back and free-fall from the broom.
It wasn't like him to be ill-prepared. When Aly was snatched, the bird leapt without thinking, taking wing in animagus form to blindly give chase. If there was any lesson he ought to have learned, it was to think before he jumped. At least his plummet after Adeline seemed better calculated, wand raised and an "Accio Starsweeper!" bellowed against the wind.┗ ┛

┏ ┓ Mad steered Pericles towards the nearest victim, attention snagged by a strangled plea for aid. He had pointed out an unfamiliar face, which looked to be losing color, only to lurch sideways in the saddle as a spell sailed by. His feet dug into the stirrups of his broom, teeth grit and arms flailing to grasp at the falling figure. Words strained through a clenched jaw as he hauled Mamori onto the already overcrowded broom. "Poymal tebya!" (Got you!) There were three things in the world which Madhup loved most: himself, @Dealla Prince, and his Varápidos. She was a sports broom, for Stribog's sake, not a soccer mom's minivan. He felt the precarious downward lurch and tensed against the descent. His beloved fought to sustain them, though she was sinking by the second. Mad struggled to steer her with his knees while borderline cradling the Hogwarts kid, urging "Pericles?!" The name was lined with a warning tone. He wouldn't hesitate to push him off the front with his foot, and the bird knew it. Aly was safe. Their first target was free. Peri excused himself, off to the next student in peril, enabling Mamori and the butterfly to become better situated.
In spite of the ongoing peril- or perhaps due to it- Madhup flashed a triumphant smile in the face of the stranger's apology. Like Mamori, he was an incidental cosmopolite, born in New Delhi yet living in Gothenburg, speaking English in a Russian accent. "The people I rescue ask for an autograph. They do not say sorry." The Durmstrang flyer was humoring him as well as he was able to articulate, implying he had no reason to apologize for the debacle he was in. Unlike Pericles, who wielded his wand like an extra limb, Mad hadn't been planning on casting much magic. His calloused hands were just as capable at ripping up a vine as any spell. He offered it without hesitation, noting "Cherry wood and phoenix feather. Maybe it will behave better for you than me." Chestnut and cherry were vastly different woods, but at least the core would feel familiar. Taking a break from the bravado, his smile dimmed as he looked the Puff over, prompting "You feel okay to cast?"┗ ┛ Action: Free any Restrained student. gave @Mamori Anezaki his wand

@Tone Bakugo
Violet in English, Red in Korean and Blue in FrenchYe-jun narrowed his eyes at Tone’s promise. From what he came to understand the two of them were similar in their recklessness, so the Beauxbatons student still felt somewhat on edge. That being said, he would never attempt to stop him, and he would be there to make sure his friend kept his word. That had to be enough. Thus, he nodded without nagging any further before smiling at Mochi, who obediently jumped from his arms to the ground next to them. “Good girl, stay safe.” He scratched the feline’s head one last time before casting the Disillusionment Charm on her (using free action as per mod’s post). Hopefully, that would be sufficient to protect the little creature in this mess.
“Ready! Protect me well, Wonder boy.” Ye-jun answered the question thrown his way without any hesitation. He didn’t actually want to be protected. He believed it was his job as an older student to look after the younger ones, but he also believed saying so would reinforce Tone’s efforts to be careful. Little lies like that never felt wrong to produce to the Korean boy and he did not feel bad about it either.
Holding onto Tone well to make sure he wouldn’t fall (or lose the other boy), Ye-jun braced himself for the swift flight. The chaos around them was astounding. Now many of the students that were previously trapped got freed but some of them ended up falling. Great, just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse… Luckily, one of the falling girls was an animagus so she ended up saving herself. The other girl was swiftly being helped by some other students and the boy further below (Hans) had another older student (Evelynn) close by to hopefully help. Besides, at this point at least one of the professors arrived at the scene to assist. About fucking time! The last free faller however, was actually close to where Ye-jun and Tone were going. In fact, he fell trying to save the boy Tone was about to help. Naturally, Ye-jun figured he might do his part as well then.
And so, while Tone approached the young man still waiting to be saved @Nikolai Volkov, Ye-jun took it upon himself to save the rescuer. “Wingardium Leviosa!” While they wouldn’t have space on their broom, if they managed to get the young boy out, he hoped somebody would join and pick up the older boy for them. Anything was better than to let him keep plummeting to his death. Luckily, if his eyes are not deceiving him, one such person was already there. Clearly very keen on saving his older classmate. Ye-jun recognized the boy as Kim, one of the few people Eun-ji still considered her friend. As such, the Beauxbatons student made a mental note to keep an eye on him if possible. His cousin would hate to hear the young lion got hurt on his watch.

An uncanny sense of bravery rained over Addie as the trio zipped through the trees. Fear was also present of course, but those feelings of apprehension and nervousness only amplified the strength it took to hop on that broom and face the abyss. Sandwiched between the two people she trusted most, Adeline was able to find a glimpse of joy in the flight, even with Robin’s excited hooting and hollering in her ear.──────────────────

Everything was going suspiciously well. Maisie managed to free Aly, a win by every measure… or so they thought.
The vine once entrapping the upperclassmen whipped back towards the trio with vengeance, causing Maisie’s Silver Arrow to lurch and spin out from beneath them. The sudden jolting sent the girls off balance, Addie in particular. Before she knew it, she was sliding from the broom handle and into the tangled horror below. She clawed for the broom stick, and as her fingertips reconnected with the silver handle, Addie thought she just might be able to recover.
Instead, Adeline watched in horror as the broom and its riders, faces pale with shock, drifted further and further away. She was falling, and fast. “Mad, Peri!” Adeline heard who she assumed to be Aly call out, her voice fading as she grew more and more distant, “Get her!”
The weightlessness of falling was horrifying. Vines and twiggy branches collided with Adeline from every direction creating small, stinging cuts over her exposed hands and face. Reality was slowly starting to settle in; if something didn’t happen fast, this would be the true end for her. Addie fumbled for her Cherry wood wand, luckily still stashed in her hoodie pocket. She clutched it tightly with both hands, her knuckles white with strain. She had no plan; no one had prepared her to fall from a broom, only to fly on one.
An idea struck the girl mid flight. It isn’t practical, and it very well may prove pointless.. her thoughts raced with untimely doubt, followed by a much needed surge of courage. Hope evident in her voice, Adeline suddenly called out “PLUVIA VELO!” The young Ravenclaw prayed aloud that the flimsy umbrella would be enough to temper her fall, even slightly.──────────────────

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬Cliffs of Omah Geni, High Houses, 4th January 2026, Early/Mid Morning"Fear is a snare that prevents us from moving forward,
Fear makes us an easy bait for the devil"▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬MODERATION ROUND TWOMetamorphosis has always been a profound subject for scientists and philosophers alike and yet if they had seen the delicate display of mastery @Aly Salinger had performed in her hour of need they would be mesmerised. She would be responsible for not only her own rescue but would guide others in a time of panic and chaos. A true Ravenclaw mind indeed, but the courage of a lion, the conviction of a snake, and the heart of a badger. She was not, today, one house, but the collective inspiration of what a witch should be.
As the chaos commenced @Devon Wallen found herself in need of help and as she weaved the inky tendrils of vines she found her way to one Ms. @Rose Pearce, a first year left behind in the treachery of saving her friend. They were to make an unfamiliar yet daring pair, until the horrors became real and such notions were as forcibly shunted as the young girl was herself. As Rose stepped onto the vine to make her way onto Devon's broom it latched onto her ankle and whisked off in seconds Devon was devastated to see the girl thrown spiralling into the weblike pattern of vines. With no one else around it would be up to her to save her, but was she up to the task?
After a somewhat unsuccessful rescue attempt, @Maisie Gemmell and @Robin Marie were entirely unwilling to fail again. Having regained their composure upon the broom and holding tightly to each other desperate that they may not lose another, they switched course in an instant. Leaving the stunning blue morpho behind they pulled at the strings of fate and altered their course to save their dear friend @Adeline Spinks. With determination in mind Maisie threw every intention into her wand and through her vigorous training she shook off the spells natural whim to strike back at her managing to latch onto Adeline's hoody keeping her afloat. Just long enough was she held aloft that Robin was able to slow her pace entirely freezing the girl in place for long enough, so that Adeline might take matters into her own hands, and that she would. Though Robin would not stop there, for she would call to a senior who would prove to be quite the hero. As for Adeline, it was a rather unorthodox method from the young witch, but this was a rather unorthodox situation and so conjuring her magic she felt the freeze begin to falter and in speed cast an umbrella so that she began to glide with all the elegance of one muggle Mary Poppins. While they did not know it quite yet, the trio had managed to rescue each other, a cause most noble and in great need of celebration, though now was not the time.
@Zephyr Deakin and @Skylar Astor had done remarkably to evade such torments given not only their age but lack of experience at the rather common plague of international visits going to hell. Still they had to help their friend and while the going seemed tough, they kept going. Yet neither of them could have predicted the haste of the vine that splintered off to attack them. Barely lucky enough to remain attached to the broom, fingers gnawing at the wood with splinters undoubtedly unbound. Still they managed to survive long enough to protect against the secondary attack. Skylar practically screamed out the fiery enchantment and if she had been but seconds later they would have undoubtedly become victims to gravity like those around them. Still fate was not so merciful. As they regained their footing the effects of the fire burned clarity into their vision and no sooner had they rallied in their safety, had they noticed the flames releasing @Ryder Hawke to his demise. Still this story would not end in despair. For they were not alone in the skies that day. A star flew amongst them, a comet on silver struck through the skies dodging and weaving vines like it was her duty, and in many ways it was. @Della Barfield had honed her skills in broom racing for years, she was now the captain and while she did not ever expect these skills to be utilised in life or death, it was her time to shine. Streaking through the sky she claimed Ryder as if he had always meant to be with her. A mesmerising display of talent and duty. She rose to the challenge and would be a shining inspiration to the first years for years to come.
Still the broom racing captain was not the only experience that graced the skies on that dreary morning. From the rubble above @Ruckus Weems, the pillar of Hogwarts flying foundation would not allow his students to go unsupervised, and while he could not help but look down on their successes with pride, there was still action to be done. Guiding his wand with the mastery of years of practice he expertly flung a levitation spell to the free-falling Hans Jenssen, guiding his unconscious body to the edge of the cliffside, in a comfortable alcove. Such talent allowed @Evelynn Decipio, who was still narrowly avoiding the most dangerous spore clouds, to scale the terrain and bring him safely onto her broom, slumped against her back. Yet this was not all the two would notice. From this vantage it was clear to see that what lay below was even more treacherous than the struggles of the air. A small pocket of students seemed to be fighting a far more sentient vine and before the wall formed and Evelynn's view became obscured, she saw a collection of students being dragged into the dark jungle, unable to be rescued, with no one to help. One thing was clear, the longer they took up here, the more danger would persist and with this shield of vine preventing any further rescue, they were just going to have to take it down.
Before that could be done there were more bodies to be saved. @Kim Sato was not known for his aerobatic ability, quite opposite in fact. Yet love was a more powerful force than any and what he lacked in confidence he made up for in sheer determination for Valentin was no mere companion, he was a dearest, cherished, something. Something that could become everything, but not if he perished. No, not on Kim's watch. Diving head first into the free fall atop a silver arrow Kim danced around vines like they were nothing more than inconveniences in his way and as he narrowly managed to reach the boy of his desires he found himself aided by a Mr @Ye-jun Lee who with some masterful spellwork had managed to levitate the Durmstrang Niffler right onto the back of Kim's broom where he would be held most close. However, such spellwork would not have been possible without the flying expertise of @Tone Bakugo who not only had expertly evaded the harassment of plant assault but had readied a spell perfect to rescue one of the final restrained victims. Everything was going to plan, the trio had done it, until they hadn't. While the relashio went off without a fault, Tone's broom was not made for three, and as the thought dawned upon him his fingers slipped out of the grasp of Nikolai's collar leading gravity to take him. Gnawing and hungry in its multitude of defeat, another vine snatched him from the air and the trio were forced to watch in horror as the boy sunk into the jungle below as the wall of snare enveloped their view. Blocking them from seeing what came next.
Still all hope was not lost entirely. After all, @Mamori Anezaki, @Madhup Hexam, and @Pericles Dralt were beyond making up for the losses of others. With the dynamic duo having rescued Mamori, he was all too happy internally to shower them with compliments, after all its not every day you get rescued by two handsome devils. While he fawned over his entourage and their equipment, Pericles' heart trembled slightly less with the return of his precious blue morpho butterfly upon his shoulder. Aly was safe and though he wishes to stay, she had charged him with a rescue that was only further enhanced by Robin's desperate plea. Thus handing his heart to Mamori he let gravity take the reigns while uttering an incantation. Within seconds his falling was but a dream as his starsweeper crossed heaven and earth to his beckon, and although the trio had already done the most of the work, he found great joy in offering Adeline a safe place to land. As for Madhup, wands were never his strength so passing the torch to the younger Mamori, who undoubtedly would've preferred an autograph, he swooped in to put his strengths to use, quite literally. Tearing at the vines around @Bree Grey he did not merely separate student from vine but with all the anger at their corrupted nature pulled the very stems apart. All the while giving time for Mamori to summon his own broom and allowing them to cradle the unconscious girl between them.
Still not all heroes managed to attain greatness this day. What had happened to @Avery Gray, @Mikey Forville , and @Minnie Duke was unclear. Perhaps the chaos of the situation had prevented them from action, perhaps the screaming from below that now echoed harrowingly up was too much. Whatever the case they did not come to any harm, and perhaps that was as much good as they could do. Still the battle was far from over, and the Isle and its students would need as much help as they could get to fight what lay below. As with largely everyone having been saved and only one lost to below, each flyer looked down in despair at the seemingly endless wall of vile vegetation that had formed a barrier separating the students fighting back and those unable. Despite the causalities, despite the danger, they had to take on this threat, they had to blast past it and discover the truth of what had corrupted the Isle. Or at the very least, they had to rescue their friends.
Adventure continues in Ensnarled | Defeat the creature, and unlock stage 3Ensnared: Stage 2 - Moderation Round 2
Summary:
- Devon offers Rose to join her on her broom but as the girl steps foot on the vine she finds it twist around her ankle dragging her into the weblike system of plant hell away from Devon.
- Maisie changed course to help their friend Adeline who had fallen. Attempting to levitate her to keep her from falling she felt as the magic tried to surge back against her but being a perfectionist stifled it off. Robin had more luck freezing her in place, giving Adeline some time to summon an umbrella and in the spirit of Mary Poppins drifted through the air slowly until she could be rescued by Mr Dralt.
- Zephyr was struck by a rogue vine and lost control of the broom but both him and Skylar managed to cling onto it with Skylar shooting up another instinctual incendio to protect them from any further harm. The spell was more powerful than either of them expected and while they rose from the ashes Ryder began to fall but as if by miracle, Della struck out of nowhere scooping him out of the air and proving the dedication and skill of a true broom racing captain.
- Ruckus managed to expertly levitate the free-falling unconscious Hans to the edge of the cliffside so that Evelynn could scoop him up and hold him safely aloft her broom until they could decide on the further plan. Evelynn herself having dove the furthest was taken aback at the sight of the chaos below. The once peaceful village had sustained far more damage than the cracks and tears they had experienced above. With Hans safe, and a quick scan proving the rest to be she wondered if she would not be better helping below. Below where a monstrous creature was looming and more and more children seemed to be dragged into the dark. Ruckus too surveyed this scene, noticing a growing threat down in the village of Omah Geni, far below. It seemed that the battle was just beginning.
- Kim would relinquish fear and dive headfirst into the chaos after Valentin, managing to grab his unconscious form with the help of some masterful levitation from Ye-Jun.
- Tone would manage to dive effectively into the thicket and while his spell just succeeded he had no room on his broom to hoist Nikolai onto. Therefore the boy succumbed to the jungle below and with another vine grasping him he disappeared down into the lush forestry below, where another danger lurked.
- Having been rescued, Mamori fawned over his heroes before requesting a wand Madhup was only too happy to offer to summon his own broom that flew to his side. Though having been entrusted with a small Salinger, who had turned from a raven girl to a tiny butterfly, he was unsure how to proceed. Madhup himself flew towards Bree and pulled her from the grasps of the vine with raw strength alone cradling her unconscious form in his arms.
- Pericles listening to the commands of those who needed him most, free fell into the unknown summoning his Starsweeper to aid. Zooming towards the now graceful descent of Adeline he managed to position himself under her perfectly to prevent her from the plagues of gravity.
- Avery, Mikey and Minnie Seemingly startled by the ever attacking branches, the chaos of the situation or the dire screams that were now echoing from farther below seemingly lost themselves to the moment and failed to act.
- With largely everyone saved the attention of the flyers was drawn below where an exceedingly large mass of vine and tangled tendrils was forming a wall of defence preventing an armada of students from passing through. From this height it was unclear what lay beneath it and why the students were so determined to break through, but if this morning had taught them anything, it was to keep on fighting and trust in one another.

The hit came out of nowhere, one second they were pushing forward, the next, vine slammed into them. Zephyr’s hold slipped just as slightly as the broom jerked hard to the side. Pain shot through his hands as small sharp pieces of wood dug into his palms while his balance was thrown off for a moment, “Hold on!!” Managing to stay on was harder than he expected. Skylar’s arms tightened around him when another attack came, and then he saw flames from his peripheral vision, it burst from behind them. It was Skylar. “We’re still good, we’re still good…” He was not sure who he’s convincing, himself or Skylar.
When he looked up at Ryder, he was falling…. “Noooo!!!!” Guilt hit him instantly, how could this happened, they were so close. But before he could do anything else, something happened. It came so fast that he only saw a blur. Something.. or someone else got there first. “Look, who’s that?!” He only saw Ryder was caught while falling by a far more skilled flyer and took him away from the danger. He was relieved seeing him saved and hopefully still alive. “He’s saved.” His grip loosened on the broom briefly as he took deep breaths. This entire ordeal was exhausing his energy.
He guided the broom lower until he could reach a safer ledge where a few others regrouped. His hands were hurting from gripping the broom tightly, but he completely ignored it. As soon as his feet touched the ground, green eyes searched the crowd quickly. “Rose?” There was no sign of her. There was a nagging feeling in the fit of his stomach telling him that something was wrong. “Skylar, she’s not here.” There was urgency in his voice, “I’m going back.” A decision was made quickly, already turning toward his broom again. “Something’s wrong, stay here with the others and check on Ryder, make sure he’s… okay.” He couldn’t bring himself to say the worst possibility. “I promise I’ll bring Rose with me, maybe she’s still climbing down.” He didn’t wait for her reaction, every second counts especially in a dire situation like this.
Within seconds, he was back in the air with one direction in mind, he headed straight toward their assigned sleeping quarters. The place where everything started. If she’s not with the others, then she had to be there. Please be there. He landed noisily on the balcony, almost stumbling due to his own exhaustion but that’s the least of his concerns right now, he came rushing inside. “Rose?!” No response, the room was empty. It was too quiet in there. His heart bests faster, think.. He stepped back out and forced himself to calm down to think clearly. If she’s not in the room, she must be outside, maybe she was still climbing down. The vines.
That’s it!! He flew around slowly and saw some movement along the cliffside, a flash of familiar red hair. “Rose!” She was caught too. One of the vines wrapped around her ankle which was dragging her downward through the web. Her body was tangled between several thinner tendrils, which restricted her movements, pulling her deeper. He had enough of this vines so he didn’t hesitate at that moment and dove toward her position, “I’m coming, Rose!” he called out to her as he approached. He kept his distance from the vines before closing in carefully. He pulled out his wand free with one hand while keeping control of the broom. “Incendio!” He aimed low, at the vine gripping her ankle. He reached out his free arm toward her. “Grab my hand! I’ll pull you out!” He didn’t care how dangerous the position was.
Action: Saving Rose, used incendio on the vine and attempted to pull her out.

┏ ┓ Pericles' good eye watered in the wind as he free-fell from Madhup's broom. It remained locked on Adeline, squinting albeit set on his objective, arms outstretched and hands open in wait for his Starsweeper. The broom, mage, and witch leveled with one-another almost simultaneously. Yet by the time Pear reached her, Adeline's friends had already put an end to her perilous descent. She was slowed by @Robin Marie, levitated by @Maisie Gemmell, and now hovered under an umbrella-turned-parachute of her own making. Relief flooded his face, culminating into a grim smirk as he caught, mounted, and steered his broom upward. The silver Starsweeper coasted alongside Adeline as Pear offered a hand to pull her aboard. "Need a lift? Your friends had quite a scare. Let's get you back to them." He would adjust so she might fit in front of the saddle, or stand on the stirrups and hold his shoulders, like a kid riding the pegs of a friend's bike. It might have made for a scenic flight without all the screaming.
The Seventh-Year might not be familiar with the trio, but he wouldn't forget their faces after tonight's shared peril. He did, at least, recognize them as housemates once their faces came into focus against the chaotic night. Returning Adeline to their ranks, Pericles found his relief tinged with pride, and he issued a quiet though earnest compliment: "That was a keen spell combination, Ravenclaws." He saw in them the next generation of magical friends willing to risk life and limb to preserve each other. Pear's subtle warmth was offset with the sternness of an upperclassman as he went on, "I'd recommend that you all fly beyond the boundaries of this, but if you're going to be stubborn and stick around, I won't be far behind." He surmised a young adult ought to order them towards safety, though he knew he wouldn't have listened at that age.┗ ┛

Steady. Steady.
To be quite frank, Devon had a strange relationship with flying. Back in her first year at Ilvermonry, she had fallen from her broom. During flying class. In front of her classmates. Snickers, taunts, and jokes followed her around for a while. She had simply wiped the dirt from her robes, cracked a joke, and tried to make it seem like the fall hadn’t phased her. Spoiler alert … it did. Yet, she tried her best not to show it.
Instead of keeping her off a broom, however, Devon flocked to it. Mere months later, she tried out for the Ilvermorny broom racing team. And now, after all of this time, she was still a proud member of the team. And yet, she still ocassionally fell from her broom. It was weird. Yet, she grew to not be as embarrassed about it. Just to try to do so without getting hurt. That was the goal now.
Despite her weird history, Devon never had a problem keeping steady on the broom. Just like in soccer … she was very steady, kicking the soccer ball! She glanced at the moving vines all around her, choosing to ignore them to the best of her ability. Instead, she turned her green eyes to the younger girl she was hoping would join her on her broom. After all, it would be awesome to have help … in her opinion. Plus, maybe they could actually help out some of the other students!
And yet … of course, help was not immediately on her side. Her eyes grew wide when the vines wrapped around the girl’s ankle and whisked her away … into the abyss and chaos of vines. “Nooo!” She shouted, cursing under her breath. Throwing caution to the wind, she brandished her wand, pointing it in the direction the girl was taken. “Lumos Solem!” She shouted, diving after the girl. ‘No, no, no. Don’t let anything happen to her because of me,’ she thought, immediately delving into self-deprecating thoughts. To be fair, she was usually pretty happy and talkative. And yet, here she was, as a pre-teenage girl. Not everything was sunshine and rainbows, unfortunately.
