Sonya giggled as the two bounced around on the dance floor. Neither of them were really dancing, it was more of a bounce around kinda thing. They were having a great time, and that's what counted. Ellara was fun and that's something Sonya valued in a friend. She couldn't wait to hang out with her more in theater and become friends.

Sonya smiled when the song was over and changed into a waltz and Ellara suggested they dance to it. "It does m'lady," she giggled, "May I lead?" she asked, getting into position. She knew how to dance waltz, something few people knew these days. Unlike what most people thought, it was not just twirling around and looking graceful. There were many elements to a waltz, which were complex and took a while to get the hang of. For Ellara's sake Sonya would not be dancing a waltz tonight. She'd make some sort of easier dance up that she could follow along to.

Sonya took her position holding one arm up for Ellara to take and one arm slightly extended to put behind her back. Once Ellara got hold of her hand, she positioned her other hand so it was on her shoulder. Once they were in proper position Sonya began to dance, leading Ellara around the floor.

Tina felt that the girl that just inserted herself into their conversation was rude and believed she was the first mean person she had ever met. She was exactly  the kind of person Tina hoped she would never meet. She was taken back from her sudden intervention and wasn't sure how to react. However, she knew that two wrongs did not make a right and that she answered even though the girl had already responded. In order to kill the harsh demeanor of this girl, she was going to have to use kindness. Calmly and sweetly, she says, "I'm sorry for telling false information. I was just recounting what I had heard."

Glad that she managed to complete a sentence without stuttering, she turned to Ember. She felt her response was quite cold, even if it seemed true. "It's ok not to know everyone. I can't really recall any of the Ravenclaw prefects myself."

She looked around the party and considered leaving. She had accidently ignored a random girl and started to feel terrible. Maybe she wasn't made for this stuff - drama and all. The idea of chilling on the couch in the Ravenclaw common room seemed better than staying in a crowded ballroom. Before she could make a decision of whether to leave or not, there was one more thing she had to do. She turned back to the mean girl. With a sincere voice she says, "I also want to apologize for not listening to you as your were speaking since you seemed to be more informed about Hogwarts students. I should've paid more attention.

Ellara couldn't help but match Sonya's giggle with a playful, carefree one of her own. The lingering worries about making new friends from the beginning of the week had seemed to fade away into a forgotten land of oblivion, and Ellara couldn't help but get lost in the playful banter exchanged between them. She hadn't had this much fun since... Well, there were a few instances, but this spooky ball sat near the top of the Hogwarts Experience List™ .

Upon Sonya's accepting of the waltz, she nodded her head without hesitation at the offer to lead; she'd definitely have no idea what she was doing, otherwise! Matching Sonya's positioning, she accepted the open hand and allowed the Hufflepuff girl to place the other on her shoulder before the waltz began. Evidently, Sonya was far better trained in the dance than she'd ever been, and while Ellara never directly stepped on her foot, there was still a bit of question on how coordinated she truly was.

She was grateful Sonya had dumbed down the dance, though, to anyone else watching from the sidelines, she figured they probably didn't look all too shabby in their dumb-downed version, especially since their feet were covered by their long skirts! That was another thing Ellara was thankful for: that she'd opted out of wearing heels in favor of some more comfortable flats. Best decision she'd ever made.

"Sorry I'm no prince charming, but might I say you are an exquisite dance partner," Ellara commented to Sonya in a posh tone, unable to hide the playful smile on her face, as they danced. The two girls twirled about the floor, forgetting about their worries or the lingering amount of homework they had due later on. Now was the time for a party.

Elijah nodded slowly as the girl's name came back to mind. Ah, yes... Alexx Helm. The French girl from the Welcoming Party the Slytherins had received. How had he forgotten her? And she was his prefect, no less, as he was quite rudely reminded by Ember. "I apologise quite sincerely, Miss Jones, that I'm more worried about not flunking out of Hogwarts than I am in becoming on a first-name basis with my prefects," he murmured, adorned with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. Her temper was amusing, at the most, and an annoyance at the least. He could never understand why people were so unpredictable. It was almost as if they read his thoughts, and then turned around to do precisely the opposite of what he thought they would do. It was quite annoying, really.

Tina proposed the idea that she was a veela, which Elijah instantly found intriguing. He wasn't all too convinced that it was entirely true, but the thought was intriguing nonetheless. A French veela in Hogwarts? "A French veela wanders into Hogwarts," he muttered under his breath, as if he were starting one of those awful "so and so walks into a bar" jokes. "And she thinks to take over the British world as we know it... what a story that would be."

Aurelia seemed hell-bent on ruining their fun, however, by insisting that Alexx wasn't a veela, even providing strong evidence that she was the exact opposite. Elijah simply shrugged, as he couldn't protest much- Aurelia proceeded to defend him in her next statement, and he had already promised himself to at the very least tolerate the Gryffindor until he figured out the Schütte and Bezuidenhout standings with his own family. If he got the cue to, he would instantly crush her beneath the heel of his shoe- but for the time being, there was no reason to be cruel to her.

His glance was stolen by the movement of Rosie walking over to Alexx, the girl that the group had just been talking about. How did she know her? Why had she approached her, and not him? Okay, that was a bit more selfish, but still... he grudgingly admitted that indeed, she probably had some other friends at this party besides him, but she hadn't even come over to say hi. He would just catch her later, then, and continue on with this conversation first.

Elena swept into the room like a queen entering her domain, she was dressed up and she had dropped all her facades, her friends were gone, the lies she told herself were gone, and the scars had all healed. For the first time in her life she felt more powerful than the people she'd left behind. She was dressed as warrior queen in silver, a shorter skirt with long tights, and boots. Having things was nice she smiled as she looked around, hoping to see someone she recognised to talk to.

She could see Aurelia and deliberately ignored the girl's presence, no sense in causing an argument in the middle of a ball like this. She made her way to the food table and grabbed some of the lovely looking cookies, she munched down and surveyed the room. What an interesting mixture of people, so many people she knew, but also some she didn't know at all. She could recognise Alexx Helm and Elijah Huang but didn't want to intrude on either of their conversations, especially seeing as Elijah was talking to Aurelia. Alexx might be a bit more forgiving, but then again, she should probably meet someone new.

She decided to try chatting to a slytherin and a hufflepuff she'd seen before.

"Hello, how are you two enjoying the party?"

I'm weak my love.

Nico looked over at another student that popped in for a talk. The girl was munching away on some cookies. The girl looked like a warrior princess, with all the silver that shimmerd underneath the decorative lights. Nico wasn't sure how to respond since she didn't see her coming. Another person she needed to 'read'. What wouldn't make it awkward? What if the girl would be weirded out by her? Nico quickly reached out for another cupcake and tried to eat her nerves away.

She wasn't sure if she saw her before. After avoiding people most of her time at school, she wasn't very certain about alot of things. But this time... she had her new friend by her side, Serena. After swallowing, she took a deep breath.. (And to think this all happened in less than two seconds) and straightened her back. 'Hi! Eh-ehm... The party is pretty fun. Or the food is, that's sure. The cupcakes are nice and sugarry. They look really cute too. I haven't tried the cookies yet. An-And the punch tastes pretty good aswell.' Nico noticed that she was starting to ramble. Like an ongoing train of thoughts. She tried to slow it down and finally brought it to a stop. 'Ehm I don't think... we met before, hah.' She rubbed her elbow nervously. 'I'm..I'm Nico.'

Serena nodded at Nico's words. She understood the sentiment entirely. The Hufflepuff could not help but smile a little, "Funny that... I wanted to be a Slytherin," She admitted. Serena remembered being disappointed and scared when she heard the house say Hufflepuff. In truth, she did not mind. She had grown to love her house and be glad for it. However, she was certainly afraid of what her mother would say - and she was right. Her mother told her daily to ask the Headmaster to change her house. Constantly. It was kind of annoying but her mother STILL went on about it, even though Serena had been a Hufflepuff for over a year now and made no effort to change that. "But I think the Sorting Hat actually does know best..." She admitted, fully glad that she ended up in the badger house now.

The Hufflepuff loved her house dearly. She would - and had almost - give her life for the house in yellow and black. It was loyal and kind and hardworking, everything she admired and appreciated in a person. Hufflepuffs made the bestest of friends, that was for sure. They were honest to a tee and trustworthy above all else. Serena was thrilled for it. She would have it no other way now. "I'm a Hufflepuff," She said proudly, wearing her house as a badge of honour and pride. She may have been one of the only Hufflepuff personalities amongst the Towers and Oberoi family but she was still convinced that it was the best house.

A frown appeared on her face as she observed Nico, looking down at her feet. A feeling of dread immediately surged through her, worried that something had happened. Last year was full of worries and problems for Serena... She did not want the young Slytherin to go through the same thing she had. Serena sighed softly, "It can be scary, yes..." She agreed with a nod. There were times that Serena was most definitely scared. She almost lost her life in Hogwarts... Fear was definitely something she knew and she knew it well... "Well, you have me now too." She replied with a warm smile on her face. In truth, Serena felt equally as alone as Nico did. She understood her feelings well. Serena had lost a lot of her closest friends over the past year and felt so distant from the ones she did have. She could use a new friend too... And the Slytherin seemed very sweet. She did not know her well but she did get a friendly impression from her.

Serena pretty much decided to take the Slytherin under her wing, adopting her as a younger sister that Serena would look after. She gave Nico no choice in the matter, declaring that they were now friends on her behalf but hopefully she would not mind too much. "But don't worry... You'll meet more people and get to know them better soon enough. One of my closest friends now is someone that I only became friends with after an unexpected incident happened." Serena admitted. She was referring to Reid. Serena knew him from the start of the year but she only really became super close with him after the camp out. After they both almost died trying to save each other's life, their friendship was pretty much sealed and secured. There was nothing that could break that bond now.

Blinking at the Slytherin who just offered to give Serena one of her onesies, the Hufflepuff smiled warmly. She was right to think that Nico was sweet. Even the offer of such a thing was so nice and kind. The girl made the offer straight away, without any signs of hesitation or second thought. It was innocent, pure and unselfish. Serena smiled warmly at her before shaking her head, "No no, it's fine. I couldn't possibly take one of yours. They are definitely very cute, though." She agreed, politely declining the offer. She really did not want to take away such a great outfit from Nico but the offer was very sweet nonetheless. She would simply have to convince someone in her family to get her one. Perhaps her father would give her some money to buy one, as he was often too busy to come shopping with her.

Serena grinned a massive grin when the conversation moved to the food table and Nico seemed just as into it as she was. It was great. She knew she had made a good choice of friend when the girl was happy to be talking about food. Hufflepuffs were known to enjoy food and Serena was no different. Admittedly, she did not enjoy healthy food but who actually did at this point. Twelve year olds did not enjoy good healthy salads but rather, cupcakes, desserts, biscuits, ice cream and cookies. Sodas and fizzy drinks were actually the best thing to drink too. Serena could talk abut junk food all day and just consume far too much junk food on a daily basis. In fact, if left to her own devices, the Hufflepuff could end up consuming a month's amount of sugar in one day. It was definitely not good or healthy but it was possible. Serena knew that she had to stop eating so much junk but she did not care.

However, Hogwarts catered for their students well. They provided them with three meals a day, which made everything suitable. Serena would be able to eat a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis, fully catered for by the house elves that worked incredibly hard in the kitchens. This meant she could later on consume the junk food, in between the meals that she wanted to. Her love for Quidditch meant that she could get some exercise in between the meals too. So it was fine, right? Totally. She was not putting on tons of weight and this was more of a special occasion. So she allowed herself to eat freely today. Besides, Hogwarts would not provide the food if they did not want their students to eat it. She did not have to worry about calories or whatever nonsense her mother went on about.

In truth, Serena paid little attention to her mother about those things. She went on about them but who really cared? Serena did not. Her mother simply harped on about them nonetheless. The Hufflepuff grinned and nodded in agreement, "Everything looks so great. I love how they are decorated but also so yum." She was satisfied with the taste of her cupcake that she had finished off whilst talking to Nico. She definitely needed to grab some more food, that was for sure. She wanted to try everything that the place had to offer today.

As she was pondering what food to eat and grinning about her love for this, another girl appeared. She was dressed as a warrior. Serena did not recognise her but she liked her outfit. Nico was the first to reply to the girl, who was consuming the cookies. "I'm Serena," The Hufflepuff introduced herself after Nico's rambling. "The food is definitely good, the party... eh, it's alright. The company is good, however." She looked around, the room was relatively quiet still. The 'party' was lacking but she was glad that she had come and met Nico, at the very least.

"How are the cookies?" Serena asked, wondering if she ought to go for those next or something else first...

The girl Serena was confident, a contrast to the shy girl, Nico, standing next to her. Nico was dressed in a delightfully happy shark onesie which Elena adored on sight and Serena had a scary yet absolutely unique costume. The makeup was beautifully detailed, and the colour of red made it startlingly clear.

Elena smiled at the duo, "I'm Elena. Nice to meet you both, we haven't met before no. The party is a bit dead isn't it, I guess the majority must be taking the night off to sleep."

"Yeah, they're really nice, I recommend them. The food around here is really good." She munched on a bit more cookie, "It's nice hanging out over here, if Aurelia comes past any chance I can hide behind one of you? It would really be good not to have an argument in the middle of a school event. Especially not my first ball, even if there aren't that many people around."

Elena looked at Serena's costume again how did she end up making herself only a head? She had seen something in the joke shop in diagon alley before...

"Is that an invisibility cloak? I've hear about them but never actually seen them before!" Elena asked excitedly.

'Nice to meet you, Elena. Who's ... Aurelia?' Nico raised an eyebrow and rubbed the back of her head. For some reason she felt as if she had to know who that girl, Aurelia, was. She didn't know any students except.. well. Serena, Hugh.. and now Elena. Apparantly she missed out on alot. Maybe that would change now. She had a reason to come out and to not be afraid anymore. No more hiding in the girl dorms.

'I don't mind covering you, Elena. We're here to have fun, no? No need for drama.' She smiled and tilted her head slightly. After being bullied so much, she didn't know why they ever picked on her, she didn't want to see others go through the same thing. It shaped you.. It changed you. Nico knew that all too well. The negative, judgemental voices kept on lingering in her head. Becoming louder from time to time, making her curl up in a ball. Somewhere hidden under her dormbed, holding tightly onto her shark plushie. That's what anxiety did to her. But now that she had friends, that would finally change. She'd finally be someone. And she was going to have alot of fun.

Tina stifled a yawn as she observed the surrounding company. She wasn't sure if Elijah was being nice or mean with his comment since his words sounded mean, but he smiled. She thought he was quite confusing and felt unsure on how to perceive him. She always thought people were either nice or mean, but perhaps they were a strange few who were both. Instead of commenting on his remark, she decided to let Ember say something. She had never seen her so angry and was sure that she was going to make a pretty good comeback. Facing Elijah with a small smile on her face, she says, "Well, it was good to see you again and I hope you enjoy the rest of the party."

Turning to Ember, she says, "I um probably should've told you sooner, but your dark witch costume is quite uh eye-catching. I like how you embrace b-being a witch and it's also a very bold...choice. Anyway, I'll see you later."

She glances at Aurelia unsure of her standings with her. Whether she hated her or respected her after this incident wasn't going to change the fact that she would always treat her with kindness. She waved at her before leaving the ballroom, excited to go back to a relaxing, drama-free dorm. She thought the party was fine, but wasn't sure if she would bother to attend the next party that Hogwarts hosted.
