"Wait until my family hears about this." Hecate grumbled, making his way back over to Pyce and Katelyn. "Then we'll see who gets kicked out of Hogwarts." That was not how that worked. There was no way that was how it worked. Pyce thought, not really worried at all about the empty threat. At least- that's what they told themself. But, whatever made Hecate feel better. It didn't matter much anyway, the girl was already gone.
Pyce turned away from their brother and fell into step next to Katelyn, listening to the shopkeep. They were pretty sure they had met her before, but they had never really talked to her much outside of purchasing their own books. Pyce decided that they liked her more, after all this.
Hecate walked just a few steps behind them, glancing over his shoulder frequently, as though he expected the girl to return. Pyce hoped she didn't. That was just asking for a full-on fight.
Once the shopkeeper was behind the desk, Hecate took up the space on Katelyn's other side, leaning on her a bit.
"You good?" He asked, a casualness to his tone that didn't betray the nervousness he had to be feeling. Pyce could see it set in his posture. But Hecate had always been better at playing it cool. They sighed softly.

Katelyn glanced up at Hecate and shrugged her shoulders in a meek display of indifference, though that was hardly the case. "I'll be fine, I think. Just hoping I don't run into that girl again...or really anyone else at this point if that's the reaction I'm gonna get."
Katelyn wanted to believe this was just a one-off incident. Still, with how little she understood the wizarding world, how many more incidents are there going to be of people looking down on her simply because her mother didn't bother to tell her she could do magic until it randomly happened, and it made her whole world come crashing down? She didn't ask for this; she was perfectly happy being oblivious to all of this.
"Now don't be like that, sweetheart, that girl was just a bad egg. Take the two kids with you; they stood up for you. I say they're worth keepin' around." The elderly lady said with a smile. She had a point; at least Katelyn met the twins, and they stood up for her when they hardly knew her. "I suppose you're right.." She mumbled.
The elderly lady soon gathered up the last books they needed, setting the stack of books on the counter. "Looks like the last ones you kids need are Magical Theory and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection." After she scanned the books, she gave each kid the last two they needed.

Hecate preened at the lady's words, looking like the cat that got the cream. He draped an arm over Katelyn. Pyce had already known that Hecate had marked Katelyn down as one of his new, bestest friends, but it was always something watching him draw another person in.
Pyce took their books, and Hecate got his. Once the trio had gotten their things, Hecate fished around in his pocket for the list.
"Alright!" He chirped. "Where to next? We've still got... Uh..." He squinted at the paper and Pyce wondered how on earth he could see. They hadn't noticed how smudged the lenses were. It made some sense, Hecate had a horrible habit of readjusting his glasses by the lenses, and he had probably had to fix them after he punched that girl, but goodness gracious.
"You need to learn to clean your glasses." Pyce said, taking the list and looking at it. "We still need our wands and remembralls. The wands will take the longest, being wands. But-"
"Buut, if we go into the joke shop we're never coming out?" Hecate asked, excitement glittering in his eyes. Pyce sighed.
"Something like that..." Pyce turned to Katelyn. "Any vote for what we get next?"

ReducioAh, Hecate and his smudged glasses. He actually also needs a new prescription, because I'm giving him my vision issues!! Kinda. Both twins are far-sighted, whereas I am near-sighted Anyway, seems like our time at Flourish and Blotts is drawing to a close! Katelyn let out a surprised grunt as she felt Hecate drape his arm over her shoulders, seemingly very proud of the old lady's comment. Gathering her books in her arms, she looked between the two as they conversed on where to go next. At least they were almost done; it felt like they'd been here for hours, which they had.
When attention was put on her to decide, she started panicking. Why did they have to pick the person least experienced in this stuff? She doesn't even know what a remembrall is, why ask her?
"Um...I guess since wands take a while, we can get the...remembrall? Whatever that is?"
Making sure she had all her books, she started to make her way to the front of the shop with the other two tailing behind, the elderly lady waved happily at them. "You kids have fun! And remember, there's always a place for you at Hogwarts." Those words were finally starting to chip away at the mounting anxiety she was beginning to drown in, she just hoped there wouldn't be anymore issues popping up.
