Afternoon Slot

Alyssea let out a breath. "'Miracle' is certainly a word for it." Her tone was sympathetic. While there were a few games where being the last one standing meant victory (like.. Simon Says!), there were more games where being the last one standing was a curse. Duelling aside, dodgeball as the last person standing was a total nightmare.

But Pyxis' wish for a miracle did come in the form of a backfired Knockback Jinx and a hit on a lion. Siobhan must've gotten too caught up in a victory that she let her guard down. Not only did her spell hit her instead of Pyxis, but now she was dancing to a sort of shuffle... Alyssea couldn't pinpoint the style of dance, but the constant moving of her legs would likely not help for future spells.

"Well, I think Hellebore just got themselves a miracle," Alyssea chuckled. "McCarty's dancing! There's a proper place for that just across the hall on this floor, if anyone wanted to check it out." She nearly said the Fourth Floor, forgetting that the Duelling Club was also on the same floor as the Rehearsal Room and ballroom. Speaking of the ballroom, would this year's spring ball actually use that venue for once?

Sere was still focused, though, as she lit Pyxis' clothes up. Well, you can't always have miracles, can you? One miracle was better than none.

Siobhan's Flipendo backfired, giving the remaining opponent a little taste of advantage. Just a second after, she could see the grey-eyed girl got hit by Pyxis' spell and started to dance a kind of shuffle. Sere massaged her temple, "I said keep it up, not spice it up." Grumble, a sign that Sere Nade has unconsciously started to feel comfortable with the presence of the teammate next to her.

"Alright then," Sere threw her Incendio Duo, hit Pyxis squarely and even managed to set the Viper aflame. Great, at least this could give her team a balance.

The backfire from her own wand combined with the attack from Pyxis had knocked her around enough that she felt a little dizzy as her feet shuffled aggressively. Sere commented on the attack. Obviously she hadn’t tried to have it backfire. Pyxis was turning out to be quite the thorn in their sides

And so much for an unscathed streak. She hadn’t been hit by any sort of spell- her dodging and evasive techniques had always helped but her backfire had caused those to backfire. She rubbed her eyes trying to adjust them to the light. Her eyes had become difficult to manage and this backfire was annoying the heck out of them.

That referee has an odd way of defining miracles. Sure, he'd made Siobhan do some sort of shuffle with his charm, but he was also on fire. And it was already singing his skin. Maybe Alyssea counted the act of forcing one of his opponents to dance separately from being burned alive. As far as Pyxis was concerned, he just didn't see the previous bout of spell slinging as having gone in his favor. But there was really no time to be wallowing right now. The duel wasn't over until he was sprawled out across the piste, unmoving. He hoped the gods would have mercy and allow him to collapse in a pretty position if he did get taken out.

Not gonna lie, some of these lines were fire. Theo's line about Prat's name was a bit of a shocker for reasons that were opposite of the kind nature, but Sere's "keep it up, not spice it up" was genius. Alyssea mentally filed that one away for future use.

The miracles would end with that one backfired Knockback Jinx as hell continued to rain down upon Pyxis. In an attempt to evade two attacks from the lions and an impending storm cloud above (which was honestly the least of anyone's worries with how quiet the rumble was. One would even think it wasn't there to begin with), both spells still hit their mark. Though, one had just grazed past their shoulder and didn't do as much as Gryffindor likely hoped, but they still hit!

Siobhan's dancing left as quickly as it came, much to Alyssea's disappointment. Soon enough, Siobhan had her footing again.

Alyssea crossed her arms. Well, there wasn't much to say about this round, though maybe it was worth pointing out that Sere was still unscathed. Had anyone actually tried to target her? She hummed. Siobhan had been hit with a few awry spells and some dancing; Pyxis had been knocked back a couple of times and was still aflame; three were now lying in the Hospital Wing unconscious; but Sere was still in perfect condition like she'd just arrived. Wow.

Well, it hadn't hit as hard as she had hoped but it had been enough to knock Pyxis back as Sere hit him harder. She avoided what he had thrown at her but only just. Thankfully he seemed to be losing steam which meant it wouldn't be long until the victory was theirs.

Another Knockback Jinx hit the target perfectly. Her performance was pretty good today. Previously Sere didn't even dare to think about it because it would seem so arrogant, but after half of the match passed she could finally admit her ability inside herself. Although this felt a little bit strange, that she wasn't being targeted by the opposing team, the Gryffindor girl was grateful on the chances to focus on her spells without having to divide it with some dodges.

Pyxis didn't know what else he could do at this point. Either his team was woefully under-practiced or his luck had truly run out. The pain of being blown back by two Knockback Jinxes was only comparable to the flames biting at his skin. All this suffering made him jealous of Prat for going down first. Being the last one standing wasn't a great position to be in for anyone.

Afternoon Slot

In a last ditch effort to get a grip (not in a "crashing out" or sassy way, but in a duelling way to turn the duel back in your favour), Pyxis threw one last Knockback Jinx. It probably could've knocked out Siobhan — last ditch effort spells were filled with a determination that could only be matched to an opening — and it almost did! But then, right at the last second, she dodged and that was that. As much as Alyssea hoped to see it hit (not because she had a vendetta against Gryffindor or bias for Slytherin, just empathy), there was no coming back from that.

Alyssea grimaced as both of Gryffindor's spells hit dead center. Combined with the lingering flame on Pyxis' robes, it was no surprise when they dropped to the floor and never came back up. Of course, even if you do expect it, it doesn't take away the shock of actually seeing it.

Alyssea cleared her throat. "Time! Hellebore is down. With all three Slytherin duellists knocked out, the victory goes to Gryffindor! Congratulations." She clapped. "Good work, everyone. Go see the nurse in the Hospital Wing now. As for the audience, have a good rest of your day!"
