2024/25, Stage 1 Gryffindor V Hufflepuff: Match 6

Ok what was going on, why couldn’t she move? Was this cowardice? Was it uncertainty? She was nervous and she could feel the stares from both her teammates as well as the hungry gaze from her opponents who seemed to be picking up on her… frozenness? She wasn’t sure why she kept freezing but she was determined to stop. She wouldn’t be a let down…

Theo missed his knockback jinx by a large margin, having lost focus due to the shouting he was doing. Determined not to blame himself, he looked to his allies and saw Siobhan hesitating again. "Put some spells down range!" He said sharply with a tinge of frustration in his voice. This did nothing for his own focus and he continued to look across the arena at his own side even as he raised his wand to cast another spell.

Violet was feeling slightly better given she was able to cast her spell although her energy was draining. At this point, she was feeling so tired that she just wanted to get over it. It was not as if her mother could care anymore if she won. The fact that she got no reply to the letter she sent the previous month suddenly dawned upon her.

Round 5

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

With the fifth round underway, things were not going how either team had hoped for themselves. Atleast the lions had a breath of relief when Siobhan from their side came back to her senses. "Good for them" he thought to himself as it seemed as if it was now a puff's turn to go AFK in the game. "AFK" what in the nine hells was that? Prat learned the word from his muggle cousin, it meant going away from your keyboard. A Keyboard is a quill that muggles use to write, perhaps in order to bridge their literary gaps for their inadequacy as a writer.

This time the duellist zoning mid game was Nico, Prat watched as spells flied, Emily managed to hit Theo with her incendio, albeit he nearly made his escape. Meanwhile Sere Nade's spell backfired on her, sending her sprawling back from the impact of her own very strong flipendo. Other lions had seemingly decided that their best target was Violet as both Theo and Sio decided to attack her with Flipendo and Incendio. A better surprise was the already beaten up looking Violet managing to dodge both those spells. "Was this adrenaline?" Prat wondered. Only moments later however it seems the boost was out as Violet managed to have her incendio backfire at her. Putting her out of the game. "STOP!!" shouted Prat with his wand out as he went on to check on Violet. The round had ended and so did violet's presence on the piste as Puff duellist for this game.

Emily gasped when she saw Violet thrown back across the stage and out of the match - both metaphorically and quite literally. She wanted to rush over and help her out but after nearly being Flipendo-ed across the field, it seemed her attention was still needed with her opponents, especially now that their third member looked like they were ready to finally fight back.

Nico was the one who looked like they were away with the fairies this time, with no attack or defence to come from his wand. Emily frowned. Now wasn't really a good time, especially now that since Violet was out of contest.

Sweat beaded on Emily's forehead. "Oi! Eyes forward!"

One of these Gryffindors had to be knocked down, to level the playing field as her now developing duelling mind told her.

"Huh?" Sere raised her eyebrows when she saw the light that emerged from the tip of her wand looked quite strange, it was different than the line of blue light that should have appeared when the Knockback Jinx was casted. Before the Gryffindor girl could finish her confusion, she was immediately pushed back a few distance from where she was standing. Oh God! At that moment she realized that her spell had failed. Her hunch was right that this round was not going to be good.

Sere looked at Violet with a sigh of disappointment, but she couldn't hold back her surprise when Violet also failed to cast her spell, and worse, she was knocked out by her own spell. Sere straightened her back again, regaining her confidence. I have to do better on the next round.

Siobhan let out a huff of frustration as her Incendio missed. What an embarrassing moment. First she had been completely out of it and now she had missed on the last attempt. She could feel the badgers eyes on her seeing that she was now back in the game but wasn't landing anything. She needed to draw the attention away from herself without hindering her teammates. She heard Sere fly backwards and she barely had time to register the poor girl's confusion. Theo seemed to be faring no better this round as his spell had also missed Violet.

At least one of them was out. Two more to go-

For some unknown reason, Theo did not feel as good about seeing Violet knocked out as he had done in the previous match. Before it had been about revenge and now it was about desperation. Seeing Violet blow herself up came as a shock, even to him, his eyes wide, his teeth grimacing. "Is she-" He started, but he cut himself off noticing he had been hit himself. He patted his robes down quickly to try and distinguish the flames.
