Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 1
Credit to Hanako Tone
Of all the spells she could cast at Meenauh, Confringo wasn't exactly at the top of her list. It was one of the more brutal things they could do to each other in a duel, and in any other context, she would regard the idea of aiming an explosion at her friend as a very concerning thought. But this was duelling, and she'd committed to leaving friendships for before and after, not during.
The facts were, both Dmitri and Astrea were down right now and she had to somehow offset the amount of destruction three duellists could cause. So brutal was her best bet. Still, she was glad to see Meenauh looked fine, though of course she'd dodged the worst of it, even doing a little curtsy. Bridget nodded back, a little acknowledgment, even as she started to worry again about how Dmitri was still bound and Astrea still didn't have her wand.

It seemed the Gryffindors had decided on a strategy. The Slytherins had power, MASSIVE strength in duelling. Jake knew that from watching Dmitri strike fear in the hearts of many. But they couldn't use that strength if they couldn't cast...Astrea was still going for her wand, a vulnerable target. Both teams knew it...and Jake saw the Gryffindors point their wands.
A fulgari zoomed towards Bridget, and she ducked out of the way. Astrea tried to grab her wand and re-join the fight before it was too late, recovering from the wind jinx and trip jinxes that had grounded her. But she wasn't fast enough. The spell aimed at her was surely going to hit! Jake didn't know what it was that compelled Bridget to act then, whether concern for her team-mate, a strategy, or just a spur of the moment impulse - but as she saw the spell going towards her downed team-mate she bravely leaped in front of it. The petrifying curse hit its mark perfectly, though not the one intended, and Bridget stiffened, unable to move. At the same time Alan, who was determined to stop the struggling Dmitri from entering the fight, sent another fulgari his way....Or so he thought.
Jake watched as Alan's spell curved, missing its intended target (Or at least what Jake THOUGHT he intended) and heading right towards Astrea! Unfortunately, a petrified Bridget stood in its way. Unable to move, the fulgari curse hit the Slytherin girl, tying her frozen arms together as she was helpless to do anything but watch. Finally she toppled backwards to the ground, just as Astrea rose to her feet, wand in hand, ready to rejoin the fight. A lucky miss from Alan? Or was he a devilish lion that had planned this all along? Jake scratched his head. It was often hard to tell with Alan.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 1

It seemed that her spell didn't go to desired location, but it might have helped others' spells go where she planned to. Bridget wasn't just evading her spell, it seemed she specifically stood in the direction of Galton's. That was bold. How could she possibly predict that Galton's spell towards Astrea would be worse than Meenauh's spell towards her? Meenauh knew that Bridget was awesome, but this was a whole other level.
But what she realised was the bounds that wrapped over her petrified arms. It was like some kind of death-close Houdini trap, she had to get out before a huge boulder crashes her into pieces or something.
She noticed Astrea, who picked up her wand, and Meenauh instantly realised the reasoning behind Bridget's move. Astrea was a death cannon and she was the only one unbound. Which was potentially lethal.
Only then she realised Dmitri was still bound. She even forgot about him briefly, as if she knew it would take so much time to break out from Fulgari. But at this point he was still bound. Probably not for long.

It was odd. Duels were never a place you wanted to feel any type of emotions for your opponents, less they cloud your mind. But as Bridget ran towards the spells aimed at Astrea he couldn't help but feel some admiration for the Viper. It was a very Gryffindor like move, though he was sure it could be explained away as a cunning strategic move. I guess His admiration almost made him feel a bit bad for her as she locked up and fell to the piste floor.
But there was no place for that. He couldn't let it snap him out of whatever groove he was in. His admiration could wait until later.
Action: Admiring... but not really

Similar to his previous duel, Dmitri settled with parking his butt onto the dueling arena floor while prodding halfheartedly at the bindings around his arms.
Ironically enough, the Slytherins always ended up the victors in all of the duels where his opponents preferred to keep him disarmed. Keeping this logic, Dmitri surmised this one would not be too much different. The boy decided just to trust the process.

There was something oddly thrilling about failing a spell successfully as he just showed to do. His aim was off completely and would have for sure missed Astrea just as it had Dmitri who had been his original target. Bridget however had thrown herself practically into his spell by using her body to block any spell even entering Astrea's vicinity. "I don't think you are meant to jump into our spells," he allowed himself to point out obnoxiously, spurred by the feeling of amusement and the hilarity of this turn of events.

As Alan felt the need to point out after the fact, the general rule of duelling was to not get hit. Taking hits lost you your chance to cast, it slowed you down, or it just hurt, so the best way to stay collected and concentrated was to go untouched. But. Bridget wasn't Slytherin Captain for nothing, she understood strengths and dynamics, and she was perfectly aware that Dmitri and Astrea both had an offensive edge that she'd never quite matched. Alone, she highly doubted she could maintain this tenuous balance. But if she could keep Astrea free of harm while she reached down to retrieve her wand... that could be a better spot.
So she took the spells coming for Astrea. Two of them, and both of a very similar theme of preventing movement. Not that she would have been able to brace herself when she tipped over, petrified, anyway, but her arms ended up bound, too, which all around meant she was very stuck. She wasn't the image of the dignified duellist right now, but if she could move her lips to smile, she would. It had worked, Astrea was untouched and rearmed. Now she just had to trust her teammate to use it.

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 1
It seemed they had been passing the baton back and forth between teams, perpetually reluctant to take the risky first step forward. Once again, it had become nothing more than a battle of numbers, skill and luck, with little of the flashy, explosive theatrics of both previous and future duels. It took little more than a glance, a mere moment of mutual understanding before Bridget was taking the fall before her -- the other eclipsing their opponents' direct line of fire just as a quietly grateful Astrea finally retrieved her precious wand.
Now with both teammates bound and one additionally petrified at that, the Gryffindor team must have found themselves rather clever to incapacitate the Vipers. But with Astrea newly capable and ever-severe, rising from the ashes of temporary disadvantage, they could not be without hope. It was this mental claim of potential victory that fuelled Astrea even amongst her fallen teammates, readying herself for yet another round of many.

Dmitri must have been itching to get back in the fight...little by little the Gryffindors were tying up the Slytherins, preventing them from casting, trying to keep them out of the fight. The Slytherins didn't LOOK very hurt, though Bridget's fall to the ground and the tight bindings that wrapped two of their arms couldn't have felt very pleasant. But beyond any pain, what the Slytherins PROBABLy must have been feeling was frustration.
The odd thing though was that they didn't look it. Maybe they still had a plan...? Jake watched them, but even Dmitri seemed to be just biding his time, waiting for the bindings to loosen. The clock was ticking, but it wasn't over yet. They still had time to even the odds. Bridget of course was taken out of the equation entirely...but Astrea had her wand again. And she took action quickly.
A gust of wind flew across the platform - enough to spread the storm cloud back over to the Gryffindor team, but the wind jutted off course - missing the intended target entirely, and being side-stepped by Galton. Galton didn't fare any better however, trying to fire back at Astrea, wanting to take her back to the ground after Bridget had thwarted him before. The Slytherin girl dodged just as swiftly. At this level of combat, every duelist was ready for anything that flew their way.
Just then, finally, Dmitri would feel the cords break - his arms free, he could re-enter the fight! As the Slytherin boy got up however, Meenauh would remember him at just the wrong moment (for him of course). His legs would fall out from under him and he would stumble. He would try to catch his balance, but Alan's fulgari spell would hit its mark, and once again, the snakes arms would be bound together as they'd been before, putting him right back where he started, the cords newly strengthened. At this rate he might NEVER cast.
If there was one consolation for the Slytherin team it was that Bridget would finally begin to rise to her feet...but her arms were squeezed tightly together, and perhaps the lions had what they'd wanted all along. Two targets that couldn't defend themselves but to try to avoid any barrage of spells that might come their way!

Slytherin vs Gryffindor: Match 1

She was happy to see Bridget stand up, but not happy that it seemed Astrea was going for her. She knew and did not expect at the same time. Luckily, it seems the aiming was off, and instead it went towards Galton, who managed to jump out of its way. The cloud, thought, also jumped on their side, and they had another enemy to take care of.
She was glad Bridget managed to quickly get out of the paralysis, but she still had to get out of the other binding. Meenauh wanted to take a moment or two to just have a pause. It was somehow exhausting. But it was the top Slytherin team, so she'd have to rest a bit later...
