The Start Of A New Chapter
The mad scuffle when the train doors opened was rather nerve-racking, to say the least. Hundreds and thousands of Hogwarts-aged witches and wizards almost trampled each other in their mad dash to the doors. Renelle hung back, deciding to wait until it was less crazy to get off the train. She wasn’t about to risk death in exchange for getting to the school a few minutes early, and at any rate, she was quite sure all first years crossed the lake, together, so there was no need to be in a rush.
Hopefully.
Hogwarts castle was truly magnificent— not even the best writer could have done it any justice on paper. Even the most well-off wizards and witches would have been impressed.
As she walked with Alexa toward the middle-aged woman who appeared to be the one to guide the first years to the school, Renelle thought back to the train ride. She had to grudgingly admit, it hadn’t been all that bad. If it weren’t for that one second that felt like a slap in the face, they might’ve really become friends.
But what happened, happened. Surely Renelle couldn’t change her like now, when she’d already decided to shun Alexa a potential friend.
No, the moment they got sorted into their houses, Renelle was going to never see the girl again. Well, they would probably have classes together, so she was most likely still going to see her, but not be her friend.
“I’m pretty excited.” Her response to Alexa’s inquiry was standard, vague.
With her mind fully set, Renelle headed toward the small, rickety looking wooden boats, a heaviness in her chest that had nothing to do with the upcoming introduction to her new school, the sorting, or anything like that at all.——- END——-@Alexa Hale
