They had been tactful. They used nuanced magic and made complex decisions in the heat of the moment. But this round would revert them back to a baser instinct. One that every duelist knew from day one. You can always beat the snot out of the other team with flipendo. All but Lucia would have the impulse.

Lucia would have the mind to heal herself. That magical healing had looked oh-so good, and if she was to stay on her feet, she would need a dose. Lindsey, on the other hand, wanted the opposite for her opponents. Reparifors and flipendo - salvation and suffering - it was a poetic duo. Lucia would feel some of her bruises lessen, while Lindsey let a particularly wild looking jinx go.

On the other side of the piste, the only wild things were the looks in the Ravens' eyes. They wanted Linsdey gone, and they wanted it now. Lucia would just be a bonus for now. Both would mutter the incantation for flipendo, and while Pericles would conjure two bulbs of painful magic, Samantha would produce something of pure power.

Lindsey 's wild flipendo would haphazardly fly towards Pericles. Intentional? Hard to say. But its target would have no problem sidestepping the bundle of magic. Samantha's perfect flipendo would be accompanied by near perfect aim. The burning girl was, in every sense, on fire. To make matters worse, Pericles seemed to also have honed in on the duo, with both flipendos set to connect with the Badgers. Galton knew what was about to happen, one arm began to shoot up as the other pointed to the medics. No sooner than the second flipendo landed on Lindsey had the words began coming out of his mouth. "PAUSE! WANDS DOWN!".

Medical staff would see to the unconscious Lindsey. As brutal of a knockout it had been, it was nothing a warm hospital cot and large doses of candy magic couldn't fix . When she was clear of the stage Galton would swipe his hand down from its raised position and yell "RESUME!"

A sole Badger now stood against two circling Ravens. Was there room enough for the birds to fall from glory, or would it be as easy as just descending upon their prey?!

Edit note: swapped actions on accident

"Do you really not have any other spells to choose from?"

Pericles paused at the jab. He glanced to the side at his partner, trying to catch her attention for a wink, then drawled "If you'd like." A trio of Flipendos rocketed from the Ravenclaws. While Pericles spread his out between their opponents, Sam sent a particularly potent one towards their prime target, taking poor Lindsey out of the game. Pericles' arm retracted as Galton paused the match. He took the time to slow his breathing, cool his head, and assess his partner's status. The boy was wise enough not to gloat; this wasn't over yet.

Action: As strategized.

It had been clear Lindsey wasn't doing too well and Samantha took that opportunity right away. Her wand was aimed at the older Hufflepuff student as she casted flipendo. With pure concentration, the brunette managed to create a perfect spell. With a big grin she watched as the spell hit amd knocked down Lindsey. When theother girl was removed from the stage, Samantha tirned to thw boy. "High five!" she said as she raised her hand. This duel was looking great for them and Samantha was confident they would win.

She knew it was all over when Samantha’s Flipendo hit her (as well as smacked her to the ground) but her own did not. And before she could even act, a second Flipendo came. Lindsey was feeling bad, every muscle aching and screaming, her head dizzy with pain. “Oh…” She hissed, trying to at least stay conscious. But she would not. Darkness fell, a thick invisible black fabric first enclosing her eyes and then wrapping her body up, when nothing more could be remembered.

The duel had heated up, so much in fact, that it seemed to dominate the minds of each duelist in some way. Flame and smoke would be the name of the game.

The Ravens would try to encompass the full range of fire and fire byproducts for all to enjoy. Pericles would work up a Incendio duo for Lucia, the brutality of what they'd done last round would not be stopped. All the while, Samantha went for the after effect of fire - smoke. Not only would the resulting spell cover the piste in a fine layer of cover, it would be done with masterful ease.

The lone Badger, Lucia, would not be one to miss out on the fireworks though. She would conjure up her own Incendio duo and aim it towards Samantha. She seemed set to keep the Raven aflame as a nice, concise enunciation produced a clean ball of heat.

As smoke slowly seeped into every edge of the piste the fireballs crossed the stage, barrelling toward their marks. The green balls of magic would cast wondeful shadows across the stands as onlookers awaited the chaos that was to come. Chaos that would never arrive. Lucia's would make it a fraction of a centimeter away from Samantha. The heat would only tease its target before spiraling off and dissipating. Pericles' duo would not come as close. Lucia had been prepared to be the sole target, and evaded the spell easily.

The piste was now a hazy blob of grey with a few rough silhouette moving throughout. While the bout had been far less damaging to the participants than the previous, a key move had been made to stack the odds ever more against the lone Badger. But they were still standing and casting - it was not over yet. Would the smoke trap the Badger? Or would it provide them the cover needed to defeather a few Ravens?!

There was only one target left for the two Ravenclaws to aim at. Pericles would send the fire-making spell toward Lucia, while Samantha created a screen of smoke. The young girl hoped it would make it a lot harder for the badger to hit them. Even though she noticed Lucia's spell in time, she was almost hit.

Pericles used the pause to meet her high-five: a charming custom common among muggleborns. He grinned at the gesture, but was just as quickly unsmiling again, focus fixed across the piste once the round resumed. Lucia sent a fireball at his partner, and Peri cast one right back. Both roared harmlessly past their targets. As smoke obscured all sight, he couldn't help but sigh, catching his breath now that they were concealed. "Alright over there?" He squinted through the smoke towards Sam.

Action: As strategized.

Fumos. Lucia had encountered that spell in her very first duel, but never seen it since. As one of the few spells that negatively affected the caster as well as the targets, it was rare to see it cast on the duelling piste. It wasn't the only spell the Ravenclaws cast, though. Lucia spun out of the way of an Incendio Duo, only for her eyes to fall on the crowd. To fall on one specific member of the crowd, in fact. @Eun-ji Lee Hunt was sitting there, right there in the audience, very clearly watching Lucia's duel. For a moment, Lucia forgot what was happening. Why would Eun-ji be here, after all she'd said before? If the Ravenclaw was looking her way, Lucia would accidentally catch her eye. One, two beats went by - or maybe not even that - and then Lucia remembered what she was doing. "Incendio Duo!" Lucia's aim was surprisingly good, but she wasn't astonished when the spell missed. She needed to concentrate. She couldn't think about Eun-ji being here. She needed to win.

The audiences sight was blurred, a hush came over the crowd as they strained to hear what would become of their beloved duelists. Would all three emerge? Or would someone be laying on the piste when the smoke settled?

Lucia would provide an answer to that question as fast as possible. She shot a ventus into the thick cloud, making use of the utility side of the spell. The smoke would begin to whip around and thin as the magic had its way with smoke.

The Ravens would try to optimize their strategy around the cover the smoke provided. Samantha would resume on the offensive, while Pericles took a moment to patch the team up. Flipendo and Reparifors, the second use of the combo this duel. The stands would see a purple glow emulate around the two duelists, and a ball of blue magic move off towards the other side of the smoke.

There would be no grand finale to the flipendo. Even through the smoke it would be trivial to see how easily avoidable it was. Or maybe it was just how good Lucia's footwork was. The blue light would exit the thinning smoke and dissipate with a plunk onto the wooden stage.

The duelists seemed to be in a similar place when the smoke cleared. The Ravens looked a tad fresher than they had - but otherwise things were unchanged. Galton glanced the clock - time was ticking, was it still anyone's game or had time run too thin?
