Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff 𝙲𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚝𝚎𝚍

When people say they're on the edge of their seat, oftentimes they just mean they're intrigued or interested. But as Edme clung to the bench, her knuckles a bright white, they began to realize where that saying originated from.

A multitude of players had been knocked off their brooms, and thought that benefited them, Edme still shivered at the thought of being on of those unlucky victims to be punched around. For a moment she didn't wish to be on that field, but after a bit of thinking, they decided that it would be fun to be a part of the action. For now, though, she enjoyed staying off to the side and hoping they could pull a few more points.

Repositioning themself, she yelled a few encouraging words to the team and prepared to watch the next round.

The first thing River Turned her attention to was looking for the snitch. Trying to spot it as early in the game as possible. Apparently, her attention would have been more useful elsewhere, as she did not spot the snitch anywhere, neither did she notice the blatching attempt headed straight for her. Now this had become a habit of hers apparently, free falling to the ground below. It was almost… peaceful this time. Well not really, but before she could truly comprehend her fall, she was picked up by a reoccuring saviour of hers. Sylvain of course. She gave him a pat on the shoulder as she sighed of relief, “Ah, good to see you Syl”.

The match was underway and Lavinia began with her usual disregarding of the quaffle. Even though she was a chaser, it was a rare occurrence for her to even go after the quaffle. Her skills were better utilized elsewhere and she would do whatever it took to win.

This time she had the task of blatching Hufflepuff’s seeker off their broom. Fortunately for her, the beater defending Ethan got hit by a harsh bludger from Jorah and fell of their broom. Lavinia had a clean shot at Ethan and made the most of by pushing him straight off his broom. Listening around for a possible penalty lap, Lavinia let out a sigh of relief when there was none. She could cheat and get away with it almost as easily as Ravenclaw could win the house cup. Looking down at the pitch, Lavinia noticed just how many bodies there were, this match was already full of carnage.

As Ethen's eyes darted around looking for any sign of the snitch, he could feel the pressure mounting. As with most of the other games, the aggression was clear from both sides. There seemed to be a disregard for the rules and a willingness to do whatever it took to win. Which only served as a reminder to Ethen that he needed to work fast to get the snitch. He was at risk from the moment the game started and he knew all to well what it was like to feel the hard and cold embrace of the ground.

There was a smile that spread across Ethen's face as he noticed the familiar flash of gold in the distance. His eyes began to instinctively follow the snitch wanting to ensure he didn't lose sight of it. Step one was complete. But distracted by the stitch, he hadn't seen Lavinia closing the distance. The collision was brief but he completely lost his grip on the broom. Again Ethen found himself plummeting through the air to the ground below. He half expected one of his teammates to catch him but any hope was quickly dispelled as his body landed with a thud on the ground.

As much as Atlas had trained to stop anything that would be thrown through their goal posts, she was increasingly finding some enjoyment out of scoring. There was a certain rush to being on the other side of the points. When it became clear that there was no threat to her own posts, Atlas had rocketed forward to contest the Quaffle. Despite not being quite quick enough, she was still pleased to see Howard scoop it up to begin bringing in some quick points.

As she drifted back towards her own posts, she watched the chaos of the game unfolding. It had just started and already people were colliding and being hit from their brooms. It seemed even more aggressive of a game than the last couple. Other than Howard it seemed like the interest in actually playing Quidditch had vanished. Instead it became which team could beat the other team off their brooms faster.

While Atlas watched, her worry began to grow and she felt increasingly inclined to join the action to protect her teammates. But nothing spurred her on more than watching Ethen get hit out of nowhere. Again she would have to watch her boyfriend flying through the air with no one there to save him. It looked like a nasty hit and she knew that Ethen had been so hopeful that this would be the game he survived. But even if that wouldn't be the case, she had a renewed drive to defeat the other team. If they were suffering losses already, she wanted to make sure they could still bring home the win that they so needed.

Cutting right to the chase, that was the kind of strategy that put Ravenclaw's wit at advantage over their opponents in their previous games. That and his team mates' willingness to endure setbacks in order to tip the balance of the scales in their favor. It was clear both teams wanted more than anything to score, but in order to score it seemed they both had a few ideas on how to even the odds first. Guess we'll just have to see how we adapt.

It was not surprising that River needed his help, but it was pleasant to rush to her aid and feel like a champion rather than wait to witness her fall. Seemingly, Hufflepuff had a better plan for Jorah and poor Damion didn't even get a chance to participate before Syl had to motion the others off of the bench. Only thing left to do for the both of them was bring good news to the infirmary.

"Does that mean you spotted the snitch?...or on second thought maybe we should could come up with a code for that?"

Well this was a mess. Just an absolute disaster for both sides, really. How was it possible that all four Beaters were knocked off their brooms? Really, it was just a nightmare situation, and if Ami was still fully conscious right now, Cecily was sure the Hufflepuff would be freaking out just as much as the Ravenclaw was. At least River was still flying, thank Merlin-- or, thank Sylvain. As their young second-string Beater entered the pitch and Cecily shot off on her penalty lap, she vividly remembered the desolate season in which Ravenclaw was full of brand-new, first-year players every game who were no match for their opponents. But this would be different, right?
