Fly high
@Amber BullhornThe boy snapped out of his daydreaming state with Amber's arrival - he got distracted analyzing the broom handle, thoughts going all the way to his first memory of flying and finishing his homework. He was all over the place, to be honest. Leaning against the broom, he let out a hearty laugh as she picked herself right back up.
He could tell she had the spirit to play sports and that was great. A lot of people either gave up due to low self-esteem or refused to lose, too competitive to the point of losing a grip of reality - himself included, in that last part.
"For sure," Edmund smiled at her suggestion, running his fingers through his messy hair. "We just need to be careful not to get caught and end up thrown in detention," He faked a shiver at the thought.
He'd love nothing more than race and play around whenever things got too monotonous. It would be great practice for both of them. As much as he had learned growing up, he had to keep practicing or he'd soon forget all of it. Plus, Amber was a genuinely sweet girl who knew how to have fun, unlike some other students he had met before.
Edmund looked around, adrenaline still pumping in his veins. He should go to the Owlery and write Granny a letter. He promised he would every few weeks. He wanted to practice a few Charms before their next lesson tomorrow.
"I have to go now," He said, turning to Amber. "I'll take the brooms back on my way, if you want,"

Fly high

"Honestly, I'm surprised I haven't been put in detention yet..." Considering how often she could mess up in class, her habit of exploring places she probably shouldn't and just generally having an untidy appearance - Amber considered herself lucky to have a clean record so far.
Since Edmund offered to take the brooms back, she handed hers to him with a grin, "Awesome, thanks." He had somewhere to be and Amber figured she could head back to the common room now. There was probably some homework she had forgotten to do in all the excitement of meeting Edmund and racing brooms.
"I'll see you around?" She says with a hopeful smile. He was definitely a lot of fun and Amber could see them becoming good friends if they had a chance to hang out more, "If you see me in the common room, or at the table in the Great Hall, feel free to say hi or to sit with me." She adds, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
Making friends was just as easy as that, huh?
She took a few steps back towards the castle, but she would go a different route to Edmund, "Bye Edmund, see you later!" She waved and took off, her excitement at racing a broom and making a new friend carried her all the way to the common room.
notes: end!
