Snowflake Making Errand Closed

As the spell wisped out of her wand, hitting the paper snowflake. Immediately, it started to change colours. A smile started to appear on her face for a second, pleased it worked. It even looked half nice as it shifted between the colours. But the smile hesitated for a moment. The process seemed a little slow. It shifted from one colour to another a little more, not seeming to settle on just one. The smile faded as the colours started to hold, looking a little... odd? It was still kind of pretty but also... Why was it half black, fading into a yellow? Or a blue going into a green? Was it supposed to look like this? She was not entirely sure. As far as she knew, it should have taken one solid colour. Perhaps she did the spell wrong?

But this was a simple spell, right? How did she... manage to screw it up? A frown appeared on her eyebrows as she stared at it. She swallowed, the disappointment starting to sink in as she realised that she might have messed it up. Luckily, the Muggle Studies Professor was there before she had a chance to reflect on the matter.

A spark of relief and a bit of hope flooded through Serena as she heard the professor's words. Tie-dye, she claimed. Serena had not really heard of such a technique but it gave her hope that maybe, just maybe, she did not entirely screw it up. Looking up, she watched the snowflake, observing the tie-dye effect on it. It was actually not that bad. It was probably better than she first thought, in fact. Tie-dye. Right. She liked that. That... made everything feel a little bit better. It was not an intentional effect, of course, but there was something very relieving about the professor's words. Looking back over her shoulder towards the professor, she smiled politely, "Thank you, Professor," She replied with a firm nod, as she was grateful for the knowledge. In truth, she was most grateful that she had not completely wrecked the project. It was nice to hear something somewhat positive about it. Well, the professor did not criticise it or say she did it wrong, at the very least.

Looking over to the girl near her, who seemed to also be struggling with casting her spell, Serena twitched her nose. The snowflake did not appear to be moving, though Serena did not really know what spell was cast as she had not been paying attention. But nothing was happening, despite the girl's wand being out. She understood that pain relatively well. Not that she could do much to relief it but she figured she would try, "Hey, I really like your snowflake," She complimented the appearance of the snowflake. The cuts were interesting and it was very different to her own one. "Mine didn't quite turn out as I wanted though," She added, referencing the miscoloured snowflake, to point out that she had also messed up the spell. Even fifth years mess up! That was her point.

Wait - not that the girl would know how old she was or her school year... Ah wells, the girl would likely figure she was older. Maybe. She was the same height as uh other first or second-year students... In fact, the girl looked around the same height as her, maybe even a bit taller. Oh, wells! She was older, so it was her trying to comfort this random girl... Maybe failing but she was trying! "But yours is really cute!" She added quickly, trying to make sure the girl knew she was being genuine.
