Selim' furrowed his brow at the suggestions, the owls could definitely work if they needed to speak to each other or meet up with no rush. But emergency summoning could be a tad more difficult.

If physical means were inefficient he supposed they'd have to think of magical ones. Mutely Selim raked his mind for any spells or enchanted items that could be used, scanning anything he could, even things that seemed like petty tricks.

Finally, he thought of one, straightening and lightly planting his fist in his palm in realization.

"One thing we could do is purchase those enchanted snowballs we can get in the Weasley Wizard something-or-other shop. They home in on targets so we could just use them for emergencies, send them to each other that way..." He rose one finger as he spoke, then rose a second one, smiling slightly. "Or we could use the summoning charm, Accio. If we make something for each other, perhaps a bracelet or necklace, or some bauble, then if one of us is in trouble we could summon the other's object. I'm unsure if it would drag the person with them or just the object, but either way works."

He scratched his jaw in thought. "If we use a bracelet or necklace we could attach something like a bell to it so it could ring to alert us before it's summoned." He looked at the dhampir, tilting his head.

"It might take a few tries with me though, I'm rather poor at magic. Despite that it could be a very efficient emergency contact solution, instead of using the house elves, a third party who reports to professors, or explosions... which would likely alert professors." He grimaced at the thought of drawing any of the faculty's ire, the mere idea making his skin crawl in discomfort.

He was rather scared of the professors.

"So we could use the Accio set up for emergencies, and use the owl set up for more casual meetings and communication."

He was rather glad that he had thought of it. Explosions and third-party use were very convoluted, though creative ideas, but they'd would be inefficient if one needed the other immediately.

"If we can pull it off it'd be subtle and effective. If it drags us with it then it'd be even more effective. What do you think?" He looked to the older boy for input.
