Her wand was still in her hand, having not been used that round, and Everly cringed as Delilah cast Lumos Maxima, covering her face so she wouldn't be blinded by the light. Peeking out from behind her fingers, she noted that Robert hadn't cast either that round.

It seemed that her partner was the only one that had been affected by Delilah's Lumos Maxima.

Crap.

Everly readjusted her grip on her wand and prepared for the next round.

Not a whole lot happened this round, Everly and Robert both covering their eyes as Delilah attempted to blind them. Of course not wanting to blind Robert, just the other two. although she only succeeded in blinding one of those two. A spell was also sent her way, but missed unsurprisingly, nothing had yet hit her in this entire duel, hopefully it would stay that way.

Somehow both Gryffindors still managed to stay on their feet, although not without consequence as Jackson would see a black ribbon shoot out of Delilah’s want and wrap around his eyes, plunging him into a world of darkness. Robert would send a Flipendo towards Everly trying to finish the young lioness off, but it would seem that the effects of the illness that he was now wracked with took the better of him, and he missed. That would not be all of Robert’s troubles this round as his forehead started to feel warm and snot began to dribble out of his nose.

Moving around while blinded was impractical, but amid the bleached textures of his surroundings, he could make out movement, and the swish of a wand.

Soon, that blinding white turned to dark as a blindfold wrapped itself over his eyes. Instinctually, his hands clawed at it, raking the tips of his nails into the soft fabric. Yet, there was nothing so dreadful as the feeling of knowing that something was coming thereafter, but being entirely helpless to stop it.

Suspended and untouched for a few seconds of trickling time, Jackson Valentine reflected on the journey that had led him thus far, from being a dueling initiate to a lamb to the slaughter.

By this point, Robert wasn't really expecting his latest spell to hit its target. It would have been nice, sure, but he was mostly just passing time while Delilah flawlessly executed Part 2 of their disabling plan. A bright light might make it hard to see, but a black cloth wrapped over your eyes makes it impossible. "Nice, Del!" he shouted over to his partner with a smile, voice embarrassedly nasally from the curse. He could feel it getting stronger with every passing moment, making his chest a bit more constricted, his nose a bit more dribbly. With a loud sniff, he pushed it to the back of his mind and focused on the duel.

Jackson seemed to be taking the brunt of the disadvantages that round. While Robert's spell didn't land on her, Delilah's Obscuro seemed on-point, and Everly watched as the blindfold wrapped itself around the boy's head. Everly's hopes were dashed little by little, but she had to keep going. Hopefully they could pull through.

This duel was a lot more tame than her last with the slytherins. Although to be fair, this duel was a lot more, ravenclaws shoot, ravenclaws miss. Rather than the last, Slytherins kick the butts of the ravenclaws and knocked her teammate out within 20 seconds. This one had lasted a lot longer, it would be great if it would keep going like this rather than any sort of come back.

Ravenclaw was not going to let this opportunity of having Jackson blinded slip away. No, both Ravenclaws would fire off Curse of the Bogies, and despite the fog that would be clouding Robert’s head, he had managed to not only cast a little quicker than Delilah but also hit Jackson. Delilah’s own spell was only seconds behind and hit Jackson square in the chest. Everly would have the same idea and recognized that Ravenclaw was going to gun for Jackson. She was not wrong, but unfortunately for her, Delilah was ready and dodged her spell with ease.

Jackson was not having a pleasant time during the duel, to be sure. First, he was light-blinded by a Lumos Maxima, which still plagued him even If it was fading away. Then he was literally blinded by a black cloth that clung to his face like a xenomorph facehugger. Jackson clawed at the fabric for seconds, though it might feel like minutes before his fingers finally slipped under that fabric, and he successfully ripped it off his face. Much like its previous compared lifeform, it had not been removed in time to spare the life form it had attached itself to. Just as Jackson could see again, all he would see would be two sickening green lights slamming into him from the Ravenclaw side. He would feel his mind start to get fogging as a fever descended upon him, his sinuses would congest to the point of annoyance, and of course, his nose would start to snot.

Valentine had long conditioned his mind for situations like this. It was like the night of the train wreck when most of his body had been badly burned in a freak miscasting. Were he fully invested during the moment, the pain would have been so intense that it rendered him incapable of moving. Rather, he withdrew inward on himself just as he did then, entering a state of blankness guided more by muscle memory and instinct than proactive decision making. His thoughts consisted of motes of personality that simply existed with nothing to tie them together. Deliberately, he pieced his mind and senses back, freshly expunged of the taint of horror. The light in his eyes was gone, replaced by an ocean of darkness.

Try as he would to mitigate the mental strain of the curse, his body could not be fooled into thinking that it was alright. His grip on his wand was beginning to tremble, and his vision was starting to blur. Well damn, they did pull out the trump card after all. Neither he nor Everly had reparifors, so he was practically done for no matter what he chose to do.

The ravenclaws both cast at the same time, ensuring that one of them hit jackson. Although they both followed through and hit the poor first year square in the chest. Soon after both spells hitting him, Delilah found herself dodging the exact same spell that she had just sent off. It was a curse of the bogies show down. But she managed to dodge it no problem. Hopefully this duel would come to an end sooner rather than later.
