2020, Stage 1 Group A: Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff

Lydia's concentration was, once again, slightly off; she aimed her wand towards Pericles, the spell casted flying towards him, but her aim wasn't of the best this time, and the Ravenclaw boy managed to avoid her spell. Sighing, she managed to see Amadea accidentally hit herself with her Flipendo, before realising that Dealla had aimed for her.

Seeing the flames coming her way, for a second Lydia panicked, before she ducked to the left, getting out of the way of the fire. Despite the liking that fire seemed to have towards Hufflepuff, she wasn't too eager to get too close to it anytime soon.

Adjusting her robes, she looked at her next target and tried to concentrate as much as she could; it was time to stop missing her intended target and actually hit them.

𝓝ow that Amadea was back on her feet and no longer blindfolded, she was ready to get back into action in the duel. She smiled at Lydia and prepared to cast. The Knockback Jinx had been working for them in the duel so far, so Amadea attempted to cast it toward Pericles. Unfortunately, she must have been still concentrating too much on the last rounds of the duel as her focus caused the spell to backfire. Instead of the light flying from the tip of her wand toward the other duellists, Amadea watched in horror as it headed straight toward herself. The brunt force of the spell hit her with an oomph and she stumbled backward in shock. That was not what she had been expecting. Failure was something that had been so far from Amadea's mind that she didn't even know how to react. Her wand was powerful, as she had been told when it had chosen her, and she was certainly reminded of that now. She took a deep breath, trying to recenter herself from the hit and prepared for the next round.

Well, this round would be less than entertaining, to say the least. Dealla’s fever would be slowly getting worse and creeping up on her, clearly affecting her casting abilities as her Incendio Duo was dodged effortlessly by Amadea. What could have been interesting also failed as both Amadea and Lydia turned their wands against Pericles. It was clear they wanted the boy gone and no longer saw Dealla as a threat. Amadea might have noticed as she cast that she was still recovering from her backfire; while she cast successfully, it perhaps wasn’t as good as she usually cast. Lydia cast quite well, but Pericles would nimbly dodge both of their spells. He was not ready to go down, not yet.

A groan left Lydia's lips as she saw her Flipendo miss Pericles again; the young Ravenclaw was incredibly agile, she had to admit that, but of course that was completely counterproductive, since as long as Pericles kept avoiding their attacks, her and Amadea wouldn't have been able to win.

"He's incredibly fast, isn't he?" she said to her duelling partner, before looking towards Dealla; she felt kind of bad for her, the Curse of the Bogies wasn't nice, with the whole full nose and fever. "She doesn't look too good, does she?"

After that the Hufflepuff captain concentrated back on her duel, ready for her next move. It was time to win the match for her team and House.

Dee blinked hard, trying to stop her vision from blurring. How was she supposed to aim properly if she couldn't even see properly? Her spell, once again, had missed Amadea, and the only upside she could see to this was that both Hufflepuffs had failed to hit Pericles, too. But still... they were running out of time, she could feel it.

It stung her pride that apparently, neither of their two opponents even saw it worth their while to cast a spell at her at this point, but why would they? With that one, failed spell, she'd basically taken herself out of the game. They knew it was only a matter of time until her self-inflicted cold would force her out of the duel, and Dee knew it, too.

That thought, however, made the corner of her mouth quirk up in a grim smile. They would walk out of here knowing that the reason they had won wasn't their own capabilities, no - it was that one moment in which Dee's power had failed her. Neither of them had caused her any damage, and the way it was going right now, neither of them would.

But it also left Dee in the knowledge that her failure was the reason that things were looking so dark for Pericles and her, and despite her usually never-ending optimism, that was a tough fact to accept.

𝓣hings were getting intense now - Amadea could sense that both teams were trying their absolute best. She sent off a spell flying toward Pericles, hoping that the Knockback Jinx would find it's target. Unfortunately, Pericles was focusing on dodging this round, easily evading her spell. Amadea easily evaded the Fire Making Spell that was coming toward her as well.

"Yes, he's quite fast!" Amadea replied to Lydia. It was going to be hard to land a hit on Pericles. "And I know, I feel bad for her!" Amadea couldn't imagine trying to cast spells while also experiencing such horrible symptoms of a cold. Thankfully, that was the other team and not her though. She prepared for the next round, ready to cast.

It seems all rounds have been about trading blows with each other. This time, Pericles Dralt was the only one able to hit their target. All the others would be disappointed to see their spells fly off in the distance, barely even near their intended destinations.

Amadea Campbell would feel a little jolt as the Flipendo hit her in one of her legs, almost-but-not-quite tipping her off-balance. She would manage to stand her ground, though—the hit wasn't horrible, but it certainly was bad, considering the Hufflepuff fourth year was running on a third of her initial energy.

Would the next rounds fare just as well for Ravenclaw? Or will Hufflepuff manage to return the favor? The audience were on the edge of their seats, eager to find out.
