2020, Stage 1 Group B: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

Maria thought she’d gotten used to being knocked back by an incoming Flipendo, but alas, every blow felt just like the last. Her only consolation now was that she’d managed to graze on of her opponents – the same one who failed to cast last round, while the partner stood practically unscathed. She was afraid she wouldn’t last long, as she’d taken a quite a few hits by now. Maybe she wouldn’t, but she wanted to as least go down fighting,

One last exchange of spells, one last show of power.

It seemed that for those last few seconds, suddenly every duellist on the stage was focused, for all spells succeeded - and all spells hit. @Maria Dee had seen the end coming, and had decided to show the Slytherins what she was capable of. The jet of flames from her wand hit Erik precisely, it was almost like she'd known where and how he would move, like she had foreseen it, and after the spell had ended, Erik's shoulder was aflame, flickering merrily.

But the Hufflepuff paid dearly for her success. Both the green flames from @Illowy Magnard and @Erik Tharaldson's final Knockback Jinx caught her, throwing her back and onto the floor. She wouldn't be getting up anytime soon.

Dee let out a quiet breath and stepped forward, her face serious. "Halt!" she called, voice strong and clear. "This duel is over. Slytherin won, congratulations!" She then turned towards Maria, her wand drawn, and muttered "Extinguo!" under her breath, watching the flames go out while she waved forwards the helpers who would escort the Hufflepuff to the Hospital Wing.

She had gone down fighting, truly.
