"You can't choose your house, the sorting hat will assign it to you. It takes you personality and places you into the house you fit best in. Gryffindors are considered brave, Hufflepuffs are known for being loyal and kind, Ravenclaws are known for their intelligence, and Syltherins are known for being ambitious and cunning. My mother was a Ravenclaw, but she doesn't mind if I'm placed in a different house. But there is a good chance I'll be put there, but I don't mind getting a different house. Though I would love to be a Ravenclaw.

Mars stifled a laugh. Crystal sure had a lot to say. It was good though, being so full of energy. The witch had really grown on them, as much as a person can in thirty minutes.
They were glad though. It was one less decision they had to make for themselves, especially being such a seemingly important one. They wondered how legit it would be though, some magical hat taking a ten-second look into a brain they'd been trying to figure out for years to no avail.

Wyatt had seemed like he'd been listening but still, the second she'd finished, he immediately said,

“I’m going to be in Slytherin.”

Mars blinked at him. Hadn't Crystal just said it wasn't up to them? But then they smirked softly. With drive like that, it didn't seem like he could be anything but.

"I wish you all the luck with that," they said. Thinking about his immediate response, they wondered what house they might like to be in. From Crystal's description alone, none of them stood out. They'd always been loyal to their brothers, ambitious for a better life, smart bookwise, and brave to a certain degree. Well, they didn't fear anything. They couldn't tell if that was bravery, stupidity, or just being so far gone that they just didn't give a damn anymore. From their rough assessment, they figured they'd be pretty well-suited for anything.

They wanted to ask Crystal what happened if the hat couldn't put you in a house, but it felt like a stupid question. Before they could muster up the courage to embarrass themselves, Crystal pushed a piece of paper into their hands. The sketch. They'd forgotten all about it.

They looked down at the parchment. It was a brilliant rendering, soft and shadowed in all the right places. They grinned at the witch would had just finished giving the other two their respective drawings. They heard Wyatt's faint praise in the background.

"It's brilliant, thanks," they smiled. They'd always admired artists. They were hopeless in anything of the sort. They tack it up wherever they ended up staying.

Elodie got up after taking her drawing. The witch hadn't said anything regarding houses or the music. Well, none of them had yet, but Mars was waiting on it. Still, she walked to the door without replying. Oh well. Maybe they should have expected it.

She didn't have any bags, so it was empty-handed that she turned, opening her mouth. Whatever it was she decided against it though, giving a little wave instead. Then she was off. Mars watched for a second and then turned back to the other two, still reclining in their seat. Crystal looked back at them.

With a returning grin, Crystal packed her things up and got up to leave. Before she did though, she answered Mars' question.

An my favorite music has got to be by this one group called Pentatonix, they are an acapella group."

With that, she stepped out of the train. Mars watched fondly as she left. Pentatonix. They knew about them. They were good.

Wyatt was the last to go. Mars felt a burst of regret go through their chest. They would have liked to get to know the boy better. He seemed interesting. An enigma.

Nevertheless, he grabbed his back, saying, “I really like Rush. Canadian rock band.” Hmm, that was a new one. They'd have to check it out. They made to put in on their "listen to" playlist, but the phone came back saying there was no signal. Well, shoot.

“It was nice meeting you,” the boy said, startling them out of a furrowed brow. They raised a hand, wiggling their fingers as a goodbye. They sent a prayer to whatever magical hat deities there were that he'd get his wish.

Finally, it was just them. They stuck an earbud back into their ear, hitting play on one of their downloads. It still didn't work. Frick. Don't tell me muggle tech doesn't work up here. They fiddled with it for a few moments before finally giving up.

The noise of the train had died down. They reached under their seat, pulling out their duffle bag. Grinning as their heels raised them up an extra two inches, they stepped out of the compartment and stuck a head out of the train. A sea of heads bobbed on the station, heading in a smooth river to a couple of boats where three figures stood. If they looked hard enough, they could spot their three newly minted comrades.

Finally, they stepped out of the train. A gust of wind was the first to greet them, whipping their hair into their face. Of course. Pushing it out, they stared at the school in front of them. Grand towers and beautiful archways filled their view.

Grinning, they followed the wave of students. Well, it was the start of everything or the beginning of nothing. Guess there was nothing to do but find out.
Thread Ended.
