New Mentorship Program
Hogwarts is offering a Mentorship Program. This program is designed to assist new or returning players in becoming acclimated to the community. We are a popular community that has drawn in a large number of players, more players than a staff team (even one as sizable as ours) can accommodate. Players have been unofficially lending us a hand for some time as they attempt to integrate and on-board new players which has had to some drama, some repetitive efforts and well as some miscommunications that have left new users confused.
In an attempt to give new users a better "new player experience" we have developed a Mentorship System that players can be a part of. These mentors will have additional (different) accesses and be compensated for their efforts.

A Minor Update for Bean Lovers
Because we have no control over where the bean travels as the bean goes where it pleases with the exception of Houses and the Ministry I have moved staff forums to the Ministry in an attempt to reduce the number of publicly inaccessible forums. There will still be some forums that can have a bean that would require a higher year or a special item (such as Hogsmeade) or being a part of a sports team (such as the Gryffindor Quidditch Team) but it is our hope that this will make beans more available to the players collecting them.
As this is mildly more inconvenient for the staff, I have also improved the aesthetic by reskinning the background so you at the very least have a prettier place to work.
If the beans continue to show in the staff areas in spite of the move or the site bugs due to the move, I will have to move the forum back. This is merely an attempt to improve everyone's experience.

dNPC Updates
We have updated the information we have on dNPCs so that hopefully players will be able to better understand their use in our setting. Please remember dNPCs are relevant entities to your story but they are not the focus. We do not need to determine their commute to work or varies details of their ordinary day. They exist to facilitate (without giving an advantage) your character.

iNPC Updates and Applications have been opened.
Updates are open and will remain open until March 27. Applications and updates are available for all schools we have released lore on. Please remember that you can only have one iNPC attached to your student account. You cannot swap out, so please think carefully about your selection because you will be keeping this character as long as you have your player character. If you lack the time, do not create a character in haste that you are unhappy with.

Mentees Reminder
Mentees - please remember that for a Mentor to be considered done with their Mentorship with you, you need to have completed three things:
- Registered with Index
- Have at least 1 roleplay thread with someone, preferably them.
- Complete 1 homework.
You are getting individualized attention and assistance often outside of these three subjects as some of you are asking about social aspects of the community, the iNPC system, etc. I have gotten a report (already) of some users feeling that they are "too lazy"/never intended to complete one of the above (such as doing the homework) as they are only using their mentor for one of the other things (such as getting registered). I would like to gently remind those users that you are burning your mentors by doing this, because they have objective criteria for compensation. So entering a program only a few days ago (as this is brand new) with the intention of only doing part of the completion requirements is not particularly kind of you so I encourage you to reconsider this course of action.

A rare instance where I talk about a ban. I just banned a user [Thomas Boulan] for asking people by owl if they want to make love. I am going to be unequivocally clear here. Don't solicit sex from my members. I will ban you before I even tell the rest of the staff. I will announce your name on site and if the target was a minor God-help-you I will verify your country's laws and if charges can be filed I will file them with a smile on my face. I will cooperate on every level with law enforcement. The victim that reported in this case was not a minor, but if anyone else has been solicited please report. If you are a minor please contact me.

Blossom Ball
Some important dates have come from the Blossom Ball Committee.
Sign up for your iNPC and join the shenanigans with your player character and/or your main player character. Romance, probable disaster and drama await. There is also the Hexwizard Tournament. The Champions have already been chosen and are aware of the fact that they have been chosen. They have been working hard to develop relationships with their Champion. Once we announce the Champions they will be starting to build their teams. For those interested in participating that have not made an iNPC yet, I recommend considering one of the newer schools that does not have as many players so it is very likely that the champion will want to partner with you and your character.
- March 19 - both out of character and in-character, students from the other schools arrive at Hogwarts. Expect arrival threads for each school.
- March 20 - The Goblet of Fire will be brought out, students will be invited to cast their lot and dare to become the Champion for their school. The Goblet much like in the canon will remain at this location so that students can cast their lots into the Goblet in character until April 2. Out of character we will leave this thread open until the champion is out of character announced (April 23) for those that want to roleplay placing their name into the goblet of fire.
- April 2 - This is the day of the Blossom Ball.
- April 23 - Approximately the third moderator post of the ball, the Champions will be announced. April 23 is the out of character date, however this information has been communicated during the ball on April 2.

Professor of Astronomy
I am sorry to announce the stepping down of Professor Nigel Read, our Professor of Astronomy. Professor Read has been with us since 10 Jul 2021 and will be dearly missed by players and staff. Nigel plans to remain with us to assist with grading on the weekends (so there might be some delays in grading and we appreciate your patience) while we seek a new Professor.

Broom Racing - Second Match
Good job on your first race. The second race is fast approaching. On April 9, the day before everyone leaves for Spring break we will have our second race.

Thank you to those who have applied for the Professor of Astronomy position. The applications have been submitted to the Professor team for review. Applicants should have gotten a reply (receipt) from the HOH that they sent the application to (or one of them in any case). If you have not gotten a letter from at least one of the HOH then please reach out to myself or your HOH to make sure that we have gotten your application.
Votes take approximately 1 week to accomplish but sometimes they take longer, we got a lot of applicants for this role so sometimes it takes longer to discuss everyone and sometimes the vote is very close.
