I don't think it was ever canonically stated, but I'm guessing, based on real rodents of a similar size, roughly 2-3 years, but some can be older. Just my opinion based on real life animals.Lucia Fox wrote: 12 Dec 2020, 11:00 What's the lifespan of a pygmy puff? I'm sorry if that was random haha

Idea for a rollable action that can add a lot to flavour to both main story threads and duels:
Protect
The user of this action selects a target to Protect.
The user receives a Actively Dodging buff.
- If a player selects Dodge as an Action, then 5 + 25% of the player's Evasion will be added to the Evasion roll.
Example
- Player's Evasion: 8
- Dodge Evasion: 5 + 8 × 0.25 = 5 + 2 = 7
- Final Evasion Bonus: 8 + 7 = 15
From Dueling Mechanics by Meenauh Silmataurea
The Protected Target and the User have their combined evasion stats averaged.
Example
Player's Evasion: 8
- Dodge Evasion: 5 + 8 × 0.25 = 5 + 2 = 7
- Final Evasion Bonus: 8 + 7 = 15
- Target’s Evasion: 5
- Averaged Evasion: (5 + 15) x 0.5 = 10
Attack rolls against either the user or the target are rolled against the averaged evasion stat of both targets.
If it misses, it’s self explanatory.
If a hit is landed, 1d2 is rolled to determine whether the user or the target is hit by the attack.

I have a suggestion to remove something this time.
I am talking about the statpoint difference of special races and humans. They don't seem to make a lot of sense lorewise and they give the special race quite a disadvantage in sports or against humans in general. Why would a parselmouth third year have the magical abilities of a second year?
I understand how there has to be some sort of disadvantage, as we would otherwise have tons of special races running around, but I personally think that the fact, that they can no longer be animagus or have abilities such as occlumency, as well as only half the abilities of own choice do their part for that.
Additionally, some races such as part-giant naturally have a magical disadvantage.
So, yeah, basically that is my suggestion: remove the -5 statpoints for races, as they give students a disadvantage that lorewise doesn't make sense

Hi again! I was just wondering if there had ever been any more info from Zach about whether it would be possible to somehow bring back shortcuts for things like bold, italics, and underline on Mac.Elaine Pendrast wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 21:15Zach removed the old shortcuts because they clash with existing browser shortcuts. You can read up on it here (all of his updates are shared in that thread).Jake Morris wrote: 23 Apr 2020, 21:06 Recently, the editor changed the shortcut commands for bold, italics, etc from ctrl+B to alt+B on Windows.
On Mac, it used to be cmd+B - but as far as I can tell, on the new editor there is no way to use the shortcuts (cmd+b opens bookmarks now, but before it used to bold the text) since there's no alt key and the opt key didn't work.
I was wondering whether new Mac shortcuts could be added (like opt+b), or whether cmd+B could still work on Mac like before if there's no alternative, even if it overrides the bookmarks.
As all the coding of the site is done by him, I am not sure if the shortcuts will be fixed. He does however read this thread, so he'll see your suggestion eventually. Maybe something can be done about this problem.

@Jackson Valentine I will bring your suggestion to the attention of the duelling moderators, but I should inform you that there is a spell which "protects" already. As for main-story adventures/events, there is no set list of actions that can be taken with mechanics attached because pretty much any action can be taken. It is up to the moderator of specific events to determine these actions and their mechanics until such a time that a list exists (if it ever does). For example, you can currently say in adventures that you are protecting someone as your action, but it is up to the moderator to determine how to mechanically carry that out. We will reference your suggestion should we consider adding a protect action.
@Opeila Winters The -5 stat points is what discourages the majority of new players from choosing a special race. It is essential in managing the population of these special races. The other disadvantages (not becoming an animagus or be an occlumens) do not carry the same weight as having -5 points, especially considering those abilities are not a huge priority to many players. We understand that you're dissatisfied with the -5, but it cannot be changed at this time.
@Jake Morris I don't have the answer to this at the moment, but I didn't want you to feel ignored. You'll be tagged by someone with an answer when we find one!

From what I understand, the top house point earners of every month as well as the winning house get to participate in a main story thread hosted by Lear. These threads are extremely fun, and can generate some pretty compelling stories.
I think we could add some additional incentive for being the top house point earners every month, as if you’re a member of the winning house, well, you don’t really get anything above the ordinary. I think that top earners should not only be able to participate in the events, but be able to bring along one person of their choice. Or maybe if the character is from the winning house, only then are they able to invite 1 other student of another house of their choice.
This could lead to more dynamic storytelling as there is now a more diverse combination of students that could be present in the main story threads.

Not every month, but once in a while. It's too much work to make it every month. The rewards are always different, sometimes special prize, money for something specific (like a broom), or early access to some system currently in development.Jackson Valentine wrote: 9 Jan 2021, 05:29 From what I understand, the top house point earners of every month as well as the winning house get to participate in a main story thread hosted by Lear. Usually, the top earners may get their own main story thread apart from the house, or some special role in the story for the house. It's not really a settled thing as Lear is very creative.
