The Leroux family resides deep within a cypress shaded swamp, where they proudly maintain one of the south's most prestigious wizard cemeteries. For centuries, the Leroux families backyard has served as a final resting place for thousands of American wizards, a place shrouded in fog and steeped in history. Generation after generation, the Leroux family has tended graves and kept records- planted lilies and polished cold crypt stone. The Leroux family holds their duties above all else, living a life submerged in death.
"Tell the boys to start another one." an all too common phrase in their household. Ondine's great grandfather, Berenger, is a seer- the perfect breed of wizard to keep the cemetery, and a shining example of exactly what a Leroux should be. A man of uncanny intuition, a knack for seeing the end, a pride for his name, and a head of flaming red hair (before it turned white, of course). On his command, Ondine's brothers would pause whatever they were doing, and begin constructing the next crypt. It was a rarity that the plot would not meet it's owner within a weeks time. This ability has aided the Leroux family cemetery for centuries, a seer emerging within the family tree every 100 or so years.
Ondine's duty is quite simple- tend the lily gardens, and prepare the flowers for burials. She is wonderful with plants, finding some of her only moments of absent minded joy in tending the loamy soil, taking in the sickly aroma of ivory colored blooms. Perhaps it is the life- the fact that even in a place as dark as the Leroux Family Cemetery, she could relish in tiny moments of light.
As a young girl, Ondine spent her days in quiet rebellion, skipping atop crypts and stepping on memorial offerings, catching fireflies in preserve jars, shaking them until their flames began to falter. Her father, Armand was entirely emotionally unavailable, and Melisende was far from the warm mother figure that Ondine craved. Melisende was simply the dictator of the house, the decision maker, the final say. Unfortunately for Ondine, her mother favored her other children much more than the cranberry haired misfit. This longing for acceptance from her parents paired with her constant need to rebel from them and everything their name means has created a severe rift in Ondine, leaving her without the kind of stability girls her age need to thrive, and with deep-seated resentment for the family that has never held her.

As a young girl, Ondine would often search for wild iris near the swamp's edge. One day, while carefully picking blooms, a pair of black, beady eyes met hers from between the reeds, sending fear down her spine. It was a young alligator. With no thought, the girl let out a scream, one so loud apparently, that it could completely incapacitate those who fell victim to it. The creature rolled right over, belly up in the mud, limbs twitching, rendered helpless from the scream of an 8 year old girl.

The gift of sight has run through the Leroux family for as long as any of them could remember. This gift was the reason the families cemetery was constructed, and one of the only reasons it has continued to run smoothly through the years. The only living member of the Leroux family known to posses the sight is Ondine's paternal grandfather, Berenger. His visions come unexpectedly, like rogue waves crashing untouched shore. It is not the death that he sees, rather the arrival of the family, the weeping, what remains for the living in the wake of the loss. Knowing the Leroux's can more than likely expect guests, Berenger will send the brothers to the field, and Ondine and her sister to the gardens, to prepare the lillies for the arrival.
Ondine has always felt that she saw the world differently from those around her. She felt as though she had fine-tuned senses- that her perception was just stronger than the other children. She also felt that unlike her, none of her siblings truly paid attention to the things that they could and could not see. They made her feel silly, like she was too much- like she was mad.
"I don't know, guys. Something just seems... off." the girl would speak, only to be silenced with the groans and chuckles of her less attuned siblings. Ondine was seen as the buzzkill, her knack for sensing danger ignored and portrayed as cowardice. If they had seen it how she had, if they had listened, then Bastien would never have been bitten by that cotton mouth last summer, and Isabeau would have never fallen from that gnarled cypress. her warnings were never heard, leaving her questioning her intuituion, fueling her angst, and anxiety.
Melisende didn't want it to be Ondine. Any of the children would have sufficed, any one but that one. When Berenger began to notice the girl's budding gift, he went straight to her mother. To his surprise, the womans face immediately faded to grey, her expression quiickly morphing into one of deep dissatisfaction.
"that one cannot handle the gift, Berenger." Melisende spat "She cannot even keep her clothes tidy, there is no way she is the next in line." Berenger didn't have much to say, he had seen what was to come, the rifts, the pain of seeing deeper, the emergence of Ondine's true potential.
At only 12 years old, Ondine's gift is still in it's infancy. Most often, the girls intuition manifests in small, insignificant moments- being just a little bit too good at card games, predicting how many fish Bastien would return home with correctly every time, having an uncanny sense for finding long lost items.
On rare occasion, Ondine's sight manifests in cryptic dreams. In her slumber, the girl will find herself traversing terrain unknown to her, only to come across the same landscapes in her waking life. She would meet people in her dreams that she would not actually know for weeks, or months. Her dreams often slip through her fingers though, leaving her with a feeling of emptiness, loss, like something has been ripped from her; her newfound knowledge fading into the mist. Because of this, she often wakes with a start- heart pounding, eyes peeled open, hands clutched to her chest.

On rare occasion, Ondine's sight manifests in cryptic dreams. In her slumber, the girl will find herself traversing terrain unknown to her, only to come across the same landscapes in her waking life. She would meet people in her dreams that she would not actually know for weeks, or months. Her dreams often slip through her fingers though, leaving her with a feeling of emptiness, loss, like something has been ripped from her; her newfound knowledge fading into the mist. Because of this, she often wakes with a start- heart pounding, eyes peeled open, hands clutched to her chest.

They had a strong bond and are like two pees in a pod, they were inseparable. Rayne’s mom was an incredible healer, taking her job seriously no matter what. She mastered using every herb, potion and spell she had ever knew, and became very good at her job. Rayne’s dad was a stay at home dad, caring for Rayne and his sister whenever his mom wasn’t home. Overall Rayne really loves his family more than anything.
First Magic: Rayne was about 4 years old growing flowers with his Mum, but it had been about a week and the flower hadnt bloomed. It was later discovered that it had died, Rayne was very sad and angry and he started running inside leaving a trail of flowers behind him as he ran.

History: Summer West is one of Ellie's childhood friends. Their parents had been friends at Hogwarts so Ellie had known Summer for a very long time.
Ellie and Summer had been inseparable that is, until they turned five. A few months after Summer's fifth birthday her father had to move to America, taking his whole family with him. While the two girls stayed in contact via owls, it was very rare that they saw each other. Their parents promised that they would one day meet again but they kept getting busy.
Over time, though it took a while, Summer got used to America and to her new city of New York, with its hustle and bright lights. That's what she gets for moving to the city that never sleeps. But losing her best friend took a toll on Summer. Even in her little learning group, while all the other kids had friends Summer kept to herself, not wanting to lose a friend like she had lost Ellie.
Back before Summer had left, the girls had a tradition, every summer they would have one sleep over and, in the morning they would be allowed to go shopping and get whatever they wanted. Their parents would also let them get their hair dye, this is a tradition they still do. While they only knew each other for five years before Summer left for America and never came back, they had become really good friends, seeing each other almost everyday.
First Magic: It was soon after Summer had to move away from England. She been in America for only one week and she was not enjoying it. There was all sorts of new and weird food. Weird people with weird accents. Summer's mom had sent her to a wizard tutor who had 5 other kids to teach and rarely paid attention to Summer. It was time for a lesson and since this lady was a muggle born witch, she would teach the kids math. Summer was, and still is, good at math or actually, good at any subject in general. The teacher put a math problem on this little board she had which read 23+6.
"Can anyone tell me what 23+6 is?" The teacher asked.
She was met with blank faces, confused looks, and no hands in the air. Except for Summer. Her hand was high and she had a big smile on her face. This was easy. The teacher looked right at Summer.
"no one? I guess we will have to step it out then!"
Summer raised her hand higher. The teacher looked at her but said nothing and walked towards the board.
Before the teacher could do anything, the chalk floated up and wrote 29 on the board. The teacher looked around confused. The kids were confused, they didn't know the answer! But one girl did. Her father was a different story.
Charles Sinclair loved his daughter, even as he failed her by needlessly spoiling her. Every tear sliding down her cheek was a dagger to his chest, so convinced was he that his daughter was nothing less than perfection incarnate.
Sutton grew up in the lap of luxury. House elves, a carryover from the Sinclair family's time in the UK in the sixteenth century, and squibs served the Sinclair family loyally, earning very sizeable salaries so long as Sutton was satisfied. When Sutton called, servants were at her side before she needed to repeat the call for assistance. The servants were hired with but a single instruction: Sutton must be as happy and content as she can be. All other duties within the manor were inconsequential compared to Sutton's happiness.
Of course, she grew up arrogant, thinking herself above all others. Not because of her blood status, but because of the luxury in which she was raised. While others lived and worked for every penny they earned, Sutton ruled a small, glorious kingdom in the outskirts of muggle Los Angeles.
Sutton had no love for hard work, and no desires or lofty dreams. She only wanted to live as she already did, for the rest of her life. However, her dad did insist on her attending school, and he didn't ask her to do much, so she obliged. She had a soft spot for him, after all.
She took her studies seriously, but they weren't difficult for her. Magic came naturally to her, given her prestigious blood line, and she couldn't let herself appear to be anything less than perfect, so she practiced diligently, surprising the servants in the manor.

Sutton was quite content, eagerly laughing as she opened her presents. Then, the cake came out, but right as it did, her dad received an owl from his work, asking him to see to an emergency with the MACUSA.
He left with an apology and a kiss to Sutton's head, but her good mood immediately left with him.
Staring at the three-tier birthday cake, it was no longer sufficient. No longer perfect. She wanted more.
She wanted her dad, but her six-year-old brain didn't realize that. She just knew she wasn't content, so she demanded the only thing she knew she could have.
"More cake!" she demanded, despite knowing she wouldn't even finish more than a slice of this one.
The servants hastened to the kitchen to make another cake, but Sutton's screams and crying grew by the minute. Her eyes were closed as her hands banged on the table, and, at last, when she opened her eyes, the three-tier-cake was now significantly bigger. So big, in fact, that the top was squishing into the very high ceiling.
Sutton sniffled and stared at the cake, not understanding that she'd just done magic by mistake. All she knew was that she'd gotten what she'd wanted.
