FAQ — Questions
1) I’m not sure, but there are these:Dot Dutt wrote: 14 Aug 2018, 22:32 Two questions:
1) When I first saw Hogwarts.io ad in toprpsites, I saw that we can 'collect chocolate frogs'. How do we do that?
2) How do I know that when I casted a vote for Hogwarts.io, I recieved a point? Would there be a notification? Because I just casted a vote and I'm completely clueless *pouts dramatically*.
Thanks in advance for whoever is gonna answer my questions!
2) You don't receive a notification right away, but you’ll get it! I’m pretty sure someone has to do it manually. But you should get a notification saying “Thanks to your votes last week, you earned _ points. Thanks!”
Honestly, why do people judge? People need to learn to accept. To look past race, gender, age, sexuality, and appearances. To be open-minded. To give people a chance. To rid their hearts of hate and learn to love others for who they are. That is my wish.
FAQ — Questions
As for your third question, you gotta find the thread of suggestions, I think it's on the bulletin somewhere. I'll find it and copy and paste it for you.Dot Dutt wrote: Three questions:

3) Is there any ways to earn galleons besides getting it from dorms? I have a few suggestions as to how we can collect more coins. Where shall I give my suggestion ('cause I'm kinda sure you don't go around suggesting things in this forum)?
Thanks in advance for whoever is gonna answer my questions!

FAQ — Questions
Hello, Miss Dutt,
1) The chocolate frog cards are not out as of yet. In fact, there are quite a few systems still being worked on at the moment, because this site is brand new (opened February). The reason the front page has things like chocolate cards and pets is because hogwarts.io is the English version of a French HP site that has been around for a few years now. There, these systems are developed, but they haven't been able to transfer over to us English speakers just yet. Our staff is working on it though, so check back later.
2) When you cast a vote, you will not receive a notification every time. Instead, you will only receive one notification every Monday on the points you earned. If you remember to vote daily, you'll be awarded 5 points come the weekday. Points from voting are in fact received automatically, not manually.
3) Besides dorms, you can earn galleons by becoming a prefect or working on your house's newspaper team. There may or may not be other ways of getting galleons in the future, and we are always open for suggestions!

And I happened to get another question while I was browsing the site.
Can you change your character after you've been approved? I want to change my character's history, name and profile picture. I don't want this character anymore, but a newer, better version of it. So can we do it?
Thanks again for answering! ♥♥♥

FAQ — Questions
You can change your profile picture at any time, as long as it meets the expectations (must be human, cannot be a canon HP character). You can edit your bio/history at any time as well, but make sure it's appropriate. If you aren't sure what's allowed please make sure to owl a staff member.
As for your name, you must owl the Headmaster and request a name change - though this request being accepted may or may not depend on a few factors (the extent at which the name is changing and/or for what reasons it's changing).
You're welcome!

FAQ — Questions
1) Are there exams/OWLS/NEWTS on this website?
2) If I am doing an RP in a common room, then the characters decide to go somewhere else (say, the dorm), would I have to close that thread and make another one in the Dormitory forum?
3) What is the era of Hogwarts.io? Is Harry Potter alive? Did all that happened in the cannon books happened in this world, as well?
4) According to the bulletin board in Entrance Hall, there's a Masked Man roleplay going on. How can we participate?
5) How do we get detentions if we break a rule? (not as if I'm looking forward to it - or maybe I am, just a little bit)
6) Is there a beginners' guide? Where we could find all we need to find about Hogwarts.io?
7) Can we gift a player something from our trunk?

FAQ — Questions
1) Yes. There will be OWLs/NEWTs in their respective years (5&7). End of year exams for the rest of the years have yet to be decided. You can find homework assignments/exams by hovering over your portrait in the upper right hand corner and clicking on "Report card." However, this is only unlocked once you hit 10 days on site and 20 posts.
2) That is correct. Both players must state that they have exited the thread (preferably under reducio), and you can make a new one in the location of choice.
3) Hogwarts.io takes place in present time; 2018-onwards. Harry Potter is indeed still alive, but unlike the established official lore where he is the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Harry Potter in our storyline is on trial for supposedly killing Dolores Umbridge. You can read the Daily Prophet article here. So it is safe to assume that the things that occurred in the Harry Potter books happened in our storyline. The only lore that might be different are the things that happened after the books ended and those that we have enough wiggle-room to fill in for ourselves.
4) Come the start of the official school year, Sept. 1, certain opportunities will be available for students to interact and become a part of the main storyline. I cannot give the details of some of those but do know that they are to come in the form of threads or school events. Please note that you cannot godmod the Masked Figure nor can your character know about/listen in on certain professor-only threads about him (this one for example).
5) If you a caught doing something wrong and receive a detention, a professor or prefect will assign you one through thread or owl and you will be required to serve it in a thread. These punishments are IC only.
6) The encyclopedia and the bulletin board are great ways to start out. Joining the discord (x) is also a good way to receive quick answers.
7) Gifts, yes, but only second years and up can give money.

FAQ — Questions
Why is it that we have to wait 10 days (and have 20 posts) until we can do our homework?

FAQ — Questions
Lessons are a very in depth and difficult, time consuming thing that we professors provide for you students. In turn, grading homework is even more time consuming and difficult since each student can have 1-5 homeworks turned in at a time. Because of this, we attempt to weed out the players that are only here to 'check it out' and will abandon their students quickly without ever returning. By putting forth this delay we get a more pernament group of students, so that grading their homework will actually benefit them, since they are more likely to be around longer.Yong Yukimura wrote: 15 Aug 2018, 19:25 Why is it that we have to wait 10 days (and have 20 posts) until we can do our homework?
