If I buy something to be able to RP with it, could this even be a backdated RP?
Like I now have enough money to get item A. Could I use that item also in a thread before today?

And also for clothing like a suit, do we need to buy that in diagon alley or can we also just assume that we have this? (other clothes are also not bought, are they?)

Technically as long as it isn’t an official event or mod thing, you don’t need to have the item OOC. Correct me if I’m wrong

You do have to have the item OOC to rp it, for example if you wanted to rp with the Lover's locket you would need to have it in your trunk.

For clothes I'm pretty sure you don't need it in your trunk unless your saying you have that exact outfit, often i have said that Clair is wearing a outfit that I do not OOC own but it is also not in the shops (like a pair of jeans of something like that)

I am not sure about backdating and such tho sorry

I wanna add on certain clothes I THINK** need to be in your trunk- like Camo Cloak, Dream Pantaloons, etc. Since you get them from Hogsmeade and you need to go anyways to get them- unless you get them ooc and your parent sends them to you IC.

I'm gonna do the same for the dragon dung ngl so he doesn't break in anymore.

Map of Undergrounds of Hogwarts, Trenchcoat of Sneak, Bus Pass (are a few of the things I'm listing that open up spots ooc, that I'm not sure if you need to have OOC/IC to mention.)

Yeah if it's an item that you can IC buy from a shop, you need to have it in your trunk. If it's an item that you can't IC buy from a shop you don't need to have it in your trunk because it's not available to be bought. As for backdating after you have the item, I don't think you can do that because back then you would not have had it. Such as pets. If you bought your pet on October 1st, even though you now have your pet, you can't RP that you bought your pet back on September 1st. You didn't have it back then.

The only exception to this is if you wanted to bring your pet from home. You'd still have to do the IC rp to 'purchase' the pet from the menagerie. But you could say that you've always had the pet but just couldn't bring it from back home until now. I'm not a staff member so I can't say for sure but this is what I've gathered from things and I think this would be true.

Again a question out of interest, but if say a person applies for special race or talent, is it possible that they don’t even know they have this talent?

Yes, for some talents it is possible that they don’t realize it’s special, but I don’t think a person would never notice their talent. Such as being a metamorphmagus you may not realize that the talent is special. But, if you were a part giant, it doesn’t make sense that you think that you are just big and muscular and have an uncanny likeness to giants. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that’s correct.

For example, for a part-veela may not realise because she thinks she’s just naturally very pretty and draws attention? Or maybe for another race, they haven’t developed yet, like they realise in the middle of their first or second year.

For that question, I'd wait for an actual staff member to answer it since I don't think anyone who isn't a staff member would know the correct answer to such a question. Plus, you'd want to be sure.
