I believe so yes. Unless it's specifically stated in the rules of the homework that they expect a certain word count then it's whatever you want to do. More details though usually result in a better grade regardless though I think. You can also ask the professor in the FAQ or Questions section of the class they teach. Or ask them on discord I think too.

Hi so I know we already wrote our first instance of magic, but out of interest, would healing a wound unintentionally (whether the wound belongs to the wizard/witch/wix/herself, or another person) count as a first instance? The rules said it can’t be long-term, so would the wound go back to its original state after a period of time? Thank you.

No, it would be an actual heal as it makes something happen expeditiously (heal). If a book flew across the room (another example) then after the magic happens it does not fly back. When you transform something (like hair color) you are altering the fabric of reality, not just moving something from A to B, it will return to its natural state. If something is set on fire, the fire will not rage indefinitely nor will what was burnt suddenly be unburned after.
