It's all all a matter of light physics. To see, light needs to hit your eyes to imprint the colors the light is set to on your retina.The color signals are sent to your brain upside down, and your brain makes it right side up and sends it to your vision. If something is invisble, technically, that means light is passing through the item, and the light does not imprint apon the colors of the item, so your eyes do not see it. If your eyes are invisble, though, it's a whole different matter. Light needs to hit your eyes, and the light will just pass through. Light hitting the nerve connections do not work. So that means no signals to send to the brain, rendering the subject blind.
