Vladislav Liam Gunther wrote: 15 Apr 2026, 13:06 I'm fine. I have had a lot of red flags in my life but also moments where people would not treat me the same as another person because I was considered "disabled" and that honestly hurts me a lot more than the red flags in my life. I have always wanted to be seen the same and to feel like I'm a separate species suck.

Anyways. Lol. Yes. I'm fine, I just had problems in my life with homelife, grandparents.., religion, school, friends... and often times, I'm the one getting hurt in the end.

I do want to clarify that I was not always the one that took the L, I was a problem child back in elementary and middle school. I used to be uhh. mean. because I thought I was funny. I remember thinking I was funny making fun of someone until they cried, and when they cried, I realized I screwed up and I apologized but it didn't stop and I was sad that it wasn't funny to him but rather hurt him.

I did the same things my first friend did, and he was the same person I had a sleepover with too, the only person. But he was a popular kid, anyone he mistreated were not. Yes, it was a small class and it shouldn't have mattered but that was the way it was. I was popular for a brief moment, even if not high in the hierarchy. I stopped being mean to the people at the deaf school because I realized I was hurting more people than I was trying to lift. And believe me when I say that I never meant to hurt anyone. I was just.. a jerk. It stopped when I met my second and third friend of my life, of whom I've only gotten to know for two years before I mainstreamed.

In seventh grade, when I mainstreamed, I picked a fight with someone, called them names and all and it annoyed them to no ends until they finally decided to fight. Of course, I was not a strong child. Yes, I lost the fight, I didn't care. I got one day of detention and he got three. It was this time that I realized two things- they were treating me different than regular people because I was disabled, and two.. I needed to stop being the problem or I was not going to be on good notes with the school and wouldn't make friends.

Well, after the fight I made two friends, the same ones that I later blocked and had to lowk unfriend on socials (the same ones I were talking about above)- I was still as problematic. But I was toned down from how bad I was actually at the deaf school.

I stopped making big problems when I turned into a freshman and after that my only big 'bad' moment was literally when I skipped Spanish 1 for like a month or so. Literally didn't check in. He got worried and called the office to ask why i wasn't there for so long. I was skipping it for theater.

The other problems were minor, like I was stupid and didn't care what the contract said and emailed the superintendent of schools and complained about the school monitoring the chromebooks. His response was literally having IT lock all of the pages >.> <.< I'm still annoyed he did that ebcause I couldn't even access google.com, until I apologized. And I did then he unblocke deverything.
I hope you feel alright!!

You seem pretty sad

Longish rant
Reducio
my rant on being treated different because I am disabled bothers me but it's that way because people treat people with disabilities differently because they're being kind but what they're really doing is just protecting their own feelings rather than respecting mine. Maybe it's an unfair view but..

If you confuse accommodation with lowering expectations, you are basically doing this..
instead of thinking 'how do we give this person equal access', you are thinking 'how do we make things easier for them because they must struggle.'
That mindset alone will lead to lighter punishments, letting someone win all the time or most of the time, not holding someone to the same standards and really it's just not equality, it is just condescension dressed up as uhh compassion.

In addition people are scared of being seen as the bad guy or the problematic person as they overcorrect because they're scared of the complaints, lawsuits, accusations of discrimination or hurting the person that is disabled. With that in mind, it feels more you are being treated like a liability than a person and it felt like if they messed up, that made you a risk to them and nothing more, and it feels dehumanizing.

Further, people also, not saying everyone does, but there are peopel that assume that having a disability means you are fragile. If someone is letting you win because they don't want you to feel bad or anything, they're still going to make you feel bad when you find out that they did that (whether they make it painfully obvious or you find out later). What they're doing is projecting their own discomfort and can't imagine being disabled so they assume that being disabled must be tragic or fragile or painful and treat you through the lens that they see you through.

Moreover, they want to feel like heroes or like they did something good as if those with disabilities weren't the same as them just with some differences. Letting you win and giving you special treatment or going easy on you or whatever makes them feel like they're doing something noble while it isn't exactly noble, it is patronizing. Most people look for a fair opponent, someone who isn't in it for a "good" reputation or clout.

Society also teaches people to see the disability before they see the person themselves. Lemme make it clear when I say that I am deaf, I am blind. I have something called Usher Syndrome Type 1B. It is a genetic mutation and is recessive, it came from both sides of my family even if it skipped my parents and all. All of my siblings have it. We just thought we were deaf up until my brother had to go to the doctor for them to go through his genes or whatever (i'm no medical expert) to find anything more than just the seizures. Or what causes it. They discovered Usher Syndrome Type 1B (MYO7A) and then we got tested and found we had it too. I grew up around other deaf kids that had more than just deafness as a disability, but some only had deafness. I volunteer for two nonprofit organizations that deal with children with special needs. I see the people before I see the disability. That is the whole point of this. You can talk to me normally on the internet not knowing I had a disability but if you found out I had a disability, would your reaction change? What if you saw the disability before you talked to me, before you got to know me? Once the label of disabled is in someone's head, it stays. It's not fair.

In my mind and in my car, we can't rewind, we've gone too far. (Video Killed The Radio Star - The Buggles)

Re me seeing people treat me different because I was disabled, this appeared a lot in highschool and lowk it hurt me because I always wanted to be treated the same and if they were treating me different- what they said, what they did, whatever- letting me win instead of letting me earn the win, they were treating me differently. I didn't want that. I can take a loss, I'm not going to cry about it like someone's three year old little brother.
Aww. People can be so cruel. Hope you are okay *hugs*
