There are only three fonts - Cursive, Signature (?), and Typewriter.

FAQ β€” Questions
Oh yeah, if that's what you mean, you can copy and paste things like images that have different fonts. But in general if you want to use a particular font that is supported on HiO, there are only 3.

FAQ β€” Questions
To hopefully prevent any more possible spamming over the same topic… here is a summary of the three fonts we offer onsite asides from the default font.

1) Typewriter
2) Cursive
3) Signature.

You just have to use the text code in order to change the font onsite with that.

And if I recall correctly- some couldn’t read certain fonts- it was costing a bit to have fonts that barely anyone used- etc.

Yes- as Lear said- there are 3 fonts- not the multitude we had in the past. And as for copy pasting text- I generally don’t because it could potentially conflict with lack of legibility.

Plus- not every font you copy paste will count for your word count as for some reason they might count as an image.

I hope that clarifies everything on the font- more info can be found with the fonts info in rules. However, if I do happen to be wrong- please let me know. I wanted to make jt clear so we didn’t have to necessarily spam for the same answer- putting it all together.

So yes- again- Lear, Kim, and Lily are right

You've gotta break some eggs to make an omlette, something something.

FAQ β€” Questions
I got a question about rp:
is it necessary to have posted an rp in a thread about something to be able to reference actions that happened there?
to be more specific, I want to catch up with some things that happened since September (as I signed up only in December but I think there are some important points for Edward that must have happened in that time. First classes, flying for first time...)
but I was thinking whether I have to make a thread everywhere where I want to have some action taking place or if I could just go to the owlery and write a letter to his parents, telling them about the first week(s) and all the exciting stuff that had happened without having made a thread everywhere about everything? Since I think I would do mostly some solos about this, I wanted to avoid having multiple 1-post threads in all those places he probably visited in the first weeks and instead just sum it up in one or more letters. is that a valid thing?

FAQ β€” Questions
Thank you very much @Lily Blaze

other rp question: On IC knowledge.
What exactly is possible that a character knows? so they have the textbooks, in which they could read about a lot of things. If I look at hp wiki and find what they would learn in first year or what's in which book, then I could say he knows from reading book x?

also the headliner and prophet are they IC? so could I write that Ed is reading the headliner and interact with it? (there is this self care advent calendar and I thought it might be nice to try out a thing or so IC, but for that of course it needs to be ic)

and then there is the lore info in the encyclopedia. is that accessible to characters? like is it possible to let them read a book about these subjects? I don't have a specific application for this yet but I was wondering.

and one more thing: what about the events of Harry Potter etc. so this all happened in the past, right? so it might also be possible that there is a book about those events? (maybe even the HP books from real life just not as novels but as kind of history books)
so is it possible to reference them or having read about them and see Harry Potter as an idol or something?

FAQ β€” Questions
On writing things 'off-screen':
Use common sense with this one. Many things are implied by nature of you being in school. You can assume you are doing homework, studying, eating, talking to people, and spending time around the school as yur character would want to 'behind the scenes'. Threads should canonize things that change your character, things that would not have happened had there not been some kind of impetus. For example, I wanted Flash to learn an instrument, so I created a thread where he began to practice and learn. Many things can be implied and referenced (like saying 'Edward had been visiting the library after class every day' in a thread, which canonizes this fact) but it should not retroactively change anything that is not intuitive or not already from your background story.

For the RP question:
You can only RP knowing what you know from finished and approved classes. For example, first years learn incendio in herbology, but you cannot say you understand the spell/ have cast it/ or practice casting it unless the homework is finished and in your trunk. This is a mechanics thing, so you will have to work around some suspension of disbelief there. The Prophet and Headliner are IC and you can read/ reference them all you like. Harry Potter is involved somewhat in the main story, so you may want to read up on that before referencing him (he is in jail currently) but you can assume you know the gist of the 90s wizarding war. Just do not say you know intimate details that would not be obvious/ only things he could realistically have learned through adults, because I don't believe history of magic teaches about it during first year.

FAQ β€” Questions
@Lily Blaze Cats, ferrets and so on are a different matter. They do live in the dorm with you.

@Oliver Brown Define "Hang out". Living in your dorm? That might get you detention since the dorm is not really a bird friendly environment and your bird will inevitably cause a mess.
If you take them to your dorm for just a bit that should be ok.
