v I've always wondered...how long does it take to earn up for a pet? (If you were to collect the daily money every day)

^ Hm, lets see. 17 sickles make one galleon. You get two sickles a day just by collecting your scholarship. The cheapest pets seem to be rats and frogs/toads (they range from 5-7 galleons). It would take you approximately (correct me if I'm wrong) 9 days to get one galleon, which means a grand total of 45 days to get 5 galleons. This is of course if you were only getting your money from your scholarship.
