Kevin Miller wrote: 29 Aug 2020, 10:24 Hi, I have two suggestions for helping new students:
Any student can answer any question by any other student. As seen in our FAQ thread and in the multiple threads that are created in the Encyclopedia area with questions about the site, many times the answers to settings or mechanics questions are given by our long-term players who have been on Hio for years and know their way around the site quite well. Some of them are even former staff members. You are also encouraged to ask questions in your specific house areas, where both the prefects and the older students will gladly answer any questions you have about Hio or point you towards a person who can in case they don't know an answer.

We also have a channel on our discord that is called hogwarts-help and is frequented daily to ask questions. Here as well, staff members will answer specific questions, but many questions about the day-to-day business of Hio are answered by other players who have experience with our site and can help newbies who've only been here for a few weeks or months.

You can always post in any open thread in any part of the site. If you are insecure about where to post first or where to interact with people, you can also visit the Games Room of the Leaky Cauldron where it's easy to get to know others in an informal setting with a few fun word games. I would also recommend you to join our discord, which has some general channels just for chatting and getting to know the community, as well as art and music channels to hang out and share common interests.

Last, again if you are uncomfortable interacting with groups of players, I highly recommend you to look into our RPG Partners Requests thread. There you can find other new players who want to find a partner to RP and have fun with.

As you can see, we have a lot of different channels for new players to interact with the community, even those who for some reason feel uncomfortable interacting with the staff team - which there is no need for, I assure you, as all of our staff members are friendly and like to help out players and get to know other community members. We do not want to isolate new players by pointing them to an extra thread or area where they would be isolated from the rest of the community. This is a very open community, so I encourage you to go out and meet people. I'm sure you will find other players who would like to play with you.

Cu ochii deschiși.

Okay, thank you very much, I didn’t notice all of these. I’ll have a look at them. So sure, if there already are these thread, it won’t be necessary to set up my ideas.

What if after homework is finished and has been graded by the professor, there was a new icon at the bottom of the lessons or a new button in the dropdown menu. When you click on it, you get brought to your 'notes'. These include all the things a spell can be used for, it's dueling info, things like that. Just a short, quick, overview of a spell, all in one spot.

If we could have that, it would be amazing. It sounds useful. But unfortunately, it would require a lot of coding that we cannot actually do right now, as well as access to information that isn't available yet. Since all of the systems (such as duelling) are also still being developed, most of the information isn't available yet. So, right now, we have a few years of development ahead of us to ensure the systems are fully developed before we could do that.

In the meantime, I'd suggest saving this thread, which has a short overview of the spells in one spot. Once the duelling spell list has been completely (it's still being tweaked and changed), maybe we can combine the two. Hope that helps in the interim.

This is my former staff account.
I also play: Serena Towers (Graduated PC), Arjan Oberoi (Graduated iNPC), Xiomara Torres (Current Student)

Hey! I know this is something that would probably happen a lot later, and would require a lot of work for the staff, but-
What if, instead of the other schools always coming here for events, we went there one time? Like, the other three schools always come to Hogwarts or the UK and that's really cool that we get to do that but what if there was an event at one of the other wizarding schools? Or maybe there could be an exchange program one summer? I know that the entire thing is Hogwarts.io, but the other schools would be really fun to explore and expand on, along with how our characters respond/react to travelling and stuff, and with some of our iNPCs in their natural habitat.
We could still do a thing (like what happened with the summer camp) where you don't have to go if you don't want to.
This suggestion is probably weird and unrealistic but I was thinking about it and thought it would be really fun if we could do it. :D

Can there be a dragon at the Autumn Ball? Please?

We all know something horrible is gonna happen at the ball- bad stuff usually happens at these events, especially with the foreshadowing of the beginning welcoming "speech" with the HoHs. Like, seriously, can there be a dragon please? It doesn't have to be a big dragon...

Just a small dragon, a teensy one if you will. I'm sure it'll be safe...
