Slytherin Prefect
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that one of our lovely Slytherin prefects will be stepping down to focus on real life. Over the past few years, @Ruby Cazares has worked hard behind the scenes. (I cannot believe it's been two years already?!). He will be staying on till we find a replacement but I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work. It has been an absolute pleasure. Hopefully, this will give you a little more time to roleplay or just have fun around the site. Good luck with everything though and we hope to see you around!
We will be accepting applications till the end of 17th June - and you'll be able to find more information here. Small amount of preference will go towards a 'male' candidate (which means access someone with OOC access to the "boys dorms" board) just to try and balance out the numbers. However, we are accepting applications from all Slytherin students so please don't hesitate to apply if you're interested. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Updates to Game Room Rules
The Games Room, that place where players play forum games have updated rules. Link
The most important update here is the fact that posts made in the Forum Games area do not effect your overall post count. Spamming games are now also allowed for those that just enjoy participating in spammy games, but please remember to not double-post. The Forum Games area does adhere to all site rules, so please keep jokes tasteful and consider the topics you bring up (religion, politics, etc) as well as what personal information you share on this forum.

Animagi and Patroni
We are quickly approaching our next term, which also means that the first of our students will graduate to 5th Year. Upon graduation, the ability to become an Animagus will become available to them to choose. You can find details about how to become an Animagus here.
Additionally, the ability to learn the Patronus charm, that will be covered in 6th Year DADA class, will be made available to those 5th Year students who have picked the Prodigal Defense Against the Dark Arts ability. For those early birds as well as everyone else interested, details about the Patronus spell can be found in this thread.
If you have any question about either the Animagus ability or the Patronus charm, please use our Help Forum or the #hogwarts-help channel of our discord.

Good News and Bad News
Today, we are saying goodbye to @Ruby Cazares and hello to our newest Slytherin Prefect. However...
Bad news always comes in... pairs? We have another prefect that will be stepping down in the coming month. The wonderful (OOC. Not so much IC) @Thomas Lestrange, our only male prefect, will be stepping down at the end of July for real life. We intend on getting every day we can with him so I am glad that we have another month together [not letting you go that easily, mister!]. Since it is too early to really say 'goodbye', I'll save my soppiness for now.
However, since we're doing prefect applications already and to save on having to rehire someone in a few weeks, the admin team have decided to make a special exception in this case. This means that we have opted to hire TWO Prefects from the applications, instead of just one. For the next month, we will have five prefects in the house - but don't worry, I will make sure there's enough work for them all! I mean uh... Ahem.
So, without further ado, let me present to you your two new prefects - @Alexander Varellion and @Percival Gray (yes, the monster who threw a newspaper at Nora IC... I don't know if this is better or worse than Thomas IC... Welp). Congratulations to the both of them!
I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who applied. We were blessed enough to have plenty of great candidates and this did make the decision rather hard. Thank you to everyone who was interested and I hope to see your application in the future, next time there's a vacancy.

Hogwarts Summer Camp
The Hogwarts Summer Camp is back again this year, taking place in the Campgrounds. This is open to Hogwarts students, as well as iNPCs and incoming first years. It will take place in August but honestly... everything you need to know about this event will be posted up in the global announcement thread [LINK].
And yes, this is just a glance into what we have planned for you.

The duelling 2020-2021 championships are decided. Congratulations to Slytherin for taking the championship for this year! We also want to give a heartfelt thanks to every single person who has ever had a hand in helping the duelling system become what it has so far. We have worked so hard, and it is incredible to see it so successful.

The Duelling team has designed their own summer competition allowing iNPCs registered as Duellists the chance to earn a stat point by beating the champions of the year. This year you will be taking on the Slytherin team better known as The Viridian Vipers.It has been no secret that over the 2020-2021 school year that Hogwarts made the decision to reopen its duelling club. In fact, Hogwarts has made it pretty apparent that their duelling club has been highly successful in completing their first championship.
So much so, in fact, this year’s Champions have issued a challenge to the rest of the schools in the spirit of a healthy interschool competition. Many other schools boasted at how well their students can perform, and the Slytherins wanted to see if it was true.
Put your wands where your mouths are and see if you can take down the mighty Viridian Vipers in a chess combat-styled duel this summer! Can the best of yours best beat the best of ours?
We will need a total of 15 iNPC duellists, we will be pulling from all schools, to challenge Slytherin in a total of 3 five versus five chess combat-style games. the team with the most overall wins (2 out of 3) will be awarded the stat point and those sweet bragging rights!
More information will follow when we have it ready, but in the meantime, any questions can be directed toward any of the duelling captains.

The Quidditch 2020-2021 championships have been decided. Congratulations to Gryffindor for taking the championship for this year! They have remained undefeated this past year and it is their hope that they continue their winning streak into the summer months. A thank you goes out to all of the dedicated players and moderators of Quidditch.
This summer Gryffindor will be playing against Koldovstoretz for the championship. Their confidence is second to none after this winning streak and it is unlikely to die anytime soon. Those who dare, this is your chance to attempt to push Gryffindor off their throne.
We will be needing iNPCs from Koldovstoretz to play a quidditch game against Gryffindor. In addition Quidditch players from the other three schools (Ilvermorny, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons) will also be playing a game of Quidditch for the honor of their schools. If Koldovstoretz does not have enough players, the game will still go on as we supply fillers from the other schools by all four schools will be playing quidditch this summer in one form or another. I encourage you to fill out your roster, stat points are rewarded to the winners!

Updates to Abilities
We have added several new abilities and we have made some minor edits to some abilities:
1. We have increased Healing Sage's healing to +30% from 25% and we now allow players to obtain this skill twice (for a total of +60% healing).
2. We have given the roleplay-heavy Sixth Sense ability something more statistically useful -- that being an immunity to the Charmer ability.
3. We have added new abilities: Impartial (an immunity to alluring and lovely creature), beast master (gives your pets increased utility), rapid reviver, paragon of health and death defiance.

Additional Information Regarding Monetary Transactions
Recently an inquiry was made regarding having a shop with in-character benefit. An additional post regarding this was made here. The most important aspects are as follows:
- The shops are OC in the Leaky Cauldron, so if you agree to use your PC to do something for them you need to RP it out. This would be meeting, learning that you would be willing, paying and completing the task.
- The admin and staff do not actively monitor and moderate the shops and these deals. If someone fails to pay, fails to deliver a product or delivers an inadequate product, that is between you and the other player.
