Blinking, her eyes could only see green sparks everywhere. She had successfully managed to hit the ball, somehow - which she could tell by the sound and the force of the impact against the bat. But she had no idea how far it went. The sparks affected her vision more so than she would have liked. Rubbing her eyes, she wondered if she could risk batting again. She could barely see, let alone actually aim. Smart move, taking her greatest asset away from her - her vision. Serena had no idea how well her first hit had scored. It was definitely much more than she imagined but with the sparks in her face, she could not see it.
Serena rubbed her eyes on the back of her hand as she pondered for a moment. Then she quickly dropped her bat, brought out her wand and decided to level the playing field a bit. "Fumos," She whispered, casting it towards the Slytherin group of students in an attempt to make it harder for everyone to see. It was the only thing she could do, given that she could barely see who was who and where she was meant to be aiming. The sparks had left an after effect of dots everywhere, affecting her vision too much. Perhaps this would help level the field a little.

Serena had heard rumors floating around the Hufflepuff Common Room that there was going to be a re-match between her House and Slytherin. Having not gone to the Quidditch match, Serena was excited for another chance to cheer on her House. But then she realized that it was open to anyone, not just the Quidditch team. This made her even more excited.
So, Serena walked onto the Quidditch Training Pitch with a pep in her step. Wearing a yellow-and-black jumper, it was apparent which House she belonged to. As she got closer to the game, Serena watched as a few members from each House picked up a bat and swung a ball as it came towards them.
She had never played or even seen this game before, but it seemed simple enough. How hard was it to swing a bat and hit a ball? So she patiently waited her turn before picking up a bat and copying the stance she’d seen the other students do.
“Alright, let’s go, Huffies!” She exclaimed.
A woman that Serena recognized as the Head of Slytherin House bowled the ball over to her. Serena fidgeted her fingers against the bat. Hopefully, she wouldn’t miss it. Serena had to hit the ball. She couldn’t let Hufflepuff down!

ROUND TWO
@Serena Towers decided to go for tactics this round. With a well-swung fumos, the field quickly obscured itself within a large swirl of smoke. Sadly, the poor child had not anticipated this would affect both her opponents and teammates. Be it due to her blinded eyes or concern for her fellow Huffles, she had made her move. And it would affect all players...
While @Thora Larkston might consider herself weak, today was the day she got to prove her worth for house Slytherin. As the professor threw her the ball, she gave it her all. With a heavy swing with her bat, she managed to get the ball a good and decent 10 meters further through the smoke. Earning herself and her house 20 points.
May “Mad eye” Moonstar would meet professor Jensen’s as she went in guns blazin’ on this round. The Slytherins to her had always been the more privileged. Them and Gryffindor would learn the worth of a badger today. With fairly good technique @May Moonstar managed to hit her ball and bring it to land a good 10 meters from her position. 20 points was not as good as last time, but still good enough to make it count.
Spells wouldn’t cut it according to young @Bridget Collins, so it had become time for the more physical approach. As insecurities started to fill her mind, she hesitantly reached for a bat. While miss Collins was quite familiar with the weight of this bat, today she somehow felt different about it. Perhaps it was because of her footing, which she generally did not have to worry about. Regardless, as she brought her bat to swing, she sadly failed to hit her ball. Costing her an opportunity to make a few points for Slytherin.
@Annie Morgan had chosen wisely with sticking to what she knew would work. With fierce determination she stood ready to hit her ball as she mentally let out a call for help. With the arrival of Serena Bowen to the field, this prayer was answered. It came as no surprise when the young badger managed to hit her ball and have it hit the ground a good 22 meters ahead. 44 points gained for Hufflepuff, as Annie Morgan proved her skill to her fellow players yet again.
Caradoc would offer @Persephone Barret an encouraging smile after seeing the girl look at her Head of House and she nodded towards him, giving him the order to go. In all her hopes of impressing her house’s caretaker, it would become clear that the path she was on would not be easy. The ball she was meant to hit, passed her by in a split second. Leaving her bat to hit the ground with no points earned.
Ah, @Erin Ryan. If there was anything that needed to be said about miss Ryan, it would have to be her fierce determination for her goals. When her mind had set on conquering the ball and thus owning the game’s outcome, she would not fail to procure it. Sadly as soon as she managed to catch one ball from Caradoc’s throw, she flung the ball to what seemed to be the weakest badger on the field. While Serena Towers certainly did not see the ball coming, it missed her almost completely as she stepped aside as soon as the little silhouette of a ball approached through the wall of smoke. In her own personal victory, she had sacrificed Erik’s ball in an attempt to hit a badger. Causing the boy to not be able to bat this round.
While Erik might not be able to hit a ball this round, he would certainly manage to hit it on with one of the young ladies present. @Santario Martin praised the boy for his marksmanship as he proved to be a valuable asset to the team so far. While the boy may have taken her interest in conversation, he would not divert her attention from this game. With clear precision she managed to hit the ball a second time and caused it to land 19 meters further on the field. Earning herself some well-earned 38 points.
In lack of knowing which target to pick or which spell to cast, @Teiki Laurent opted for the safer route of batting. Sadly, as much as she smiled at Slytherin’s last poor attempt to meet Hufflepuff on the batting field, she would not prove herself much better either. Failing to hit her ball mid air, she did not win any points for her team this round.
@Erik Tharaldson’s arrogance was growing. Regrettably, as much as he called out the professor and claimed to beat his opposing team. There never was a ball to hit for him. Erin Ryan had intercepted his ball and had ran off to find herself a badger to hit. For all his heroic behaviour, the poor boy would be left stranded with nothing to do. Awkward…
A white sweater would be thrown at @Serena Bowen’s face as she entered the playing field. “As much as I admire your pride for your house, if you’re going to play, it will be in the official outfit!” Caradoc interrupted. After having donned the sweater, the girl would be ready to bat. Full of excitement and convinced she would be able to hit her ball, Serena stood ready. As professor Jensen threw the ball directly towards the little badger, the young girl could actually feel her bat hitting the ball… only to feel it a second time as the bat swung past her shoulder line and hit her in the side of her head. The ball would land 5 meters ahead, earning herself 10 points and a mild headache. (HP: 460/500)

Well, that was annoying. Although Slytherin clearly had the advantage in terms of people batting, it appeared they weren't exactly making good use of it. Erin tried to steal the ball from Professor Browne's grasp and unfortunately succeeded, costing the sneks a chance--well, two chances--to bat. That wasn't to mention, while everyone had decided to bat this time around, only herself and Santario were actually able to hit the ball with their bat. Maybe it was bad luck, but the Smokescreen spell some Badger had cast certainly didn't help their cause.
Thora hoped that the smoke would affect the Puffs' vision as well, and although a couple missed, the opposing team still somehow managed to score many more points than the sneks. Huffing in frustration, Thora tightened her grip on her bat once more. She had managed to score some points last time she tried, and although it wasn't a lot, especially compared to Santario's 38 points.
"Good job, Santario," Thora congratulated the younger girl, shooting her a quick smile, before facing the Hufflepuff Head of House once more. They needed to win this, regain their pride, regain their humiliation. Quidditch had been a game of skill, and she supposed perhaps the Hufflepuffs had deserved the win. But this? Slytherin just seemed to have the worst luck right now. How else could they have missed and messed up so badly?

Walking to the back of the batting line, Bridget felt like her face was on fire. How had she missed? Perhaps she wasn't the strongest Beater, but she'd always been able to rely on her ability to hit the ball. And now, she hadn't even touched her target.
It wasn't entirely all her fault, of course. Erin Ryan was plain distracting and some stupid Hufflepuff had decided to cast Fumos. At least that was a spell that would affect the badgers too. Still, Bridget's specialty was blaming herself for this sort of thing, not finding other things to blame. And what did all those other things matter if they lost again?
Maybe she should've returned to casting spells, what she was good at, but with visibility so low she wasn't about to risk missing and hitting her teammates instead. She would have to keep batting, to keep trying to make up for their loss. In her head, she ran through all the things she would do to guarantee she hit the ball this time. Watch it all the way to her bat. Tune out everything else. And there was her determination too, her resolve to help Slytherin emerge victorious and make up for her past failings. Stepping up to bat, she narrowed her eyes. She was not going to miss this time.

Head of Hufflepuff, Mr. Browne could not hold onto his ball forever. He threw the ball. He procured the ball anew. There was a cyclical relationship between getting and throwing where the old man (comparatively to the youth) was controlling the game.
Erin was as stubborn as she was mad.
Eventually the Hufflepuff Head of House would have to relinquish his hold over the ball and when he did Erin would snatch the sphere, stumble then half-fall, victorious! She was now armed with a weapon, a powerful weapon considering the adult's refusal to simply let her have his ball. Erin took a few deep breaths, seeking to fill her lungs full of air. She refused to appear fatigued, to show weakness in front of her yellow-jacket enemies. Yes, enemies. Friends of the part-giant menace. Allies of the cannibal (Quinn Healy) that was consuming her peers.
Serena was obviously the weakest but in her heart, Erin meant the weakest Hufflepuff to mean their Head of House Mr. Browne. She intended to chuck the ball at Mr. Browne, the dark facilitator of all that was evil. He, like the others failed to notice the descent of her cognitive function. Presuming the child a brute, powerful and cracked at every seam. She did not lob the ball at the adult, as soon as she got the coveted object she had forgotten her intentions. The space between her temples pounded, it felt as if an ice pick was driven straight through from one side to the other. Her ears rang, drowning out most of the chatter by the other students. It was as if she was wearing blinders and the narrow line of vision she did posses was shaded red.
She did not even know that she was aiming at Serena, that alleged 'pure-blood' that did not act much like one. She was a former Prefect, former Head Girl her first year in fact. She, like Reid Kovacs, was likely evil. Her befuddled mind could not place where or what sort of evil the girl was, only that she was somehow either involved or complicit.
With a mighty heavy, Erin would try to bludgeon @Serena Towers with a ball. There was no satisfying *thunk* as the ball entered the cloud of smoke through one side, it would exit the cloud through the other side a moment later. She missed the wily Hufflepuff that evaded harm.
The field was shaky, like it was made of noodles. Her eyes darted between her opponents. Annie Morgan, Serena Towers, May Moonstar, Teiki Laurent, Serena Bowen and of course Mr. Browne. Of them, she was only certain that Serena and Mr. Browne were evil. The rest, likely future meals for Quinn Healy or fodder to grow one of the midget giants to full size. She wondered if Serena or Mr. Browne was a midget-giant, explaining their relatively short stature or if they were Death Witches like Reid Kovacs. Serena was probably not as smart as Reid, probably a brute under his command. She mentally assigned the girl, midget giant. Mr. Browne, he was just scary. He also was real good at magic. Giants were not well-known for their magical prowess despite being by definition 'magical creatures.' He was probably a Death Witch she decided. She wondered if Mr. Browne was the link between the Death Witches and the Midget-Giants, the man that made their ally under his iron will.
Mr. Browne was the real danger here, Erin decided. The drumbeat between her ears refused to relent. She was not even looking at the Head of House when she drew her wand, her gaze refused to set on anything. A mundane rod of power made of chestnut wood gripped in her small hand. She was not going to attack Caradoc, the death witch was likely far too powerful. She was going to attack the ground under his feet. "Engorgio!" She cried, her wand pointed at the ground below Caradoc. Why? Simple, to unsettle the earth to knock him over so that she might attack whilst his midget giant ally was hidden behind a veil of smoke.

Annie shook her head trying to clear her vision from the smoke Serena had caused. Good thinking on her plan to distract their opponents but it had a back fire affect on their team as well. Luckily she heard the whistle of the speeding ball and the bat connected with the edge of it, sending it flying, but not as far as her previous attempt. She simply shrugged, still happy she could even hit the ball as a few opponents and team members weren't so lucky.
The young witch stood by attempting to watch the other players through the smoke which was finally starting to clear off a bit. She then saw @Serena Bowen's attempt to hit the ball but instead got knocked up the side of head by it. It wasn't nearly as bad as a speeding bludger to someone's stomach but it must've still hurt. Annie barely flinched before going over to check on her teammate.
After some time Annie stood back up, dusted off her yellow "outfit" or whatever Doc called it. She was relieved that for now the other girl might only have a minior headache but it was time to get back into the game. The Hufflepuff looked around for her trusty old bat the lay on the ground. Annie bent down to pick it up and gave it a few good practice swings. "By the time this game is over I'll have hit the bat so many times with so much force it'll be a twig!" She gave a good hearted laugh at her own joke. Whether or not they ended up winning this game Annie knew she had enjoyed this bit of "friendly competition".

Santario grinned as the bat connected with the ball and sailed 19 meters, earning her team 38 points. She knew they were still behind Hufflepuff, but in reality, this was just fun. She thought she would have been more interested in the casting side of it, but she was really enjoying batting. A familiar voice caught her attention and she grinned. “Thank you, Thora! You’re doing good too!” The smoke certainly wasn’t helping, but she had a feeling that it was also affecting the puffs. It made sense that it would.
The question was, should she continue to bat, or should she use spells? Given that they were still behind on points, she wanted to bat again, but she noticed that Erin was still about distracting Caradoc and, since that had lost Erik his ball, she decided to pull her cherrywood wand and focus on Annie Morgan. The girl had scored enough points for Hufflepuff and, now it was time to stop it. With a flourish of her wand, she said as quietly as she was allowed to say the spell. “Tarantallegra!” It was time to see how well Annie could bat with her feet trying to dance out from underneath her.

Erik saw the ball flying towards him and he was ready. He eyed the ball and followed its trajectory to where the ball would connect with his bat. He waited and waited, but the ball didn't come. When he looked around, he saw a purple haired girl of what seemed to be his own house according to the green striped jumper she was wearing. She seemed to be oblivious to what she had done to a fellow Slytherin, but most of all to him. Shame seemed to creep up along his neck covering his cheeks and slowly the rest of his head into redness. At that instant someone seemed to have used the fumos spell and hopefully that had caused others not to see that the young Slytherin had been standing there awkwardly and ashamed as his performances had been severely lacking to say the least.
Erik shook his head and pushed down his shame, as he reminded himself of one simple fact. You're a Tharaldson. Act like it. When he looked around again, he saw that the purple girl was no longer in hold of the ball she had stolen from him earlier. No matter, she would pay for it though. He pulled out his blackthorn wand and aimed it at his fellow Slytherin. Everything else seemed to fade into the background as his venomous green eyes locked on her. A look filled with anger he shot at his prey as he yelled at her. Hey, Purple! This is because you stole my ball! Nobody messes with a Tharaldson! Flipendo!
Erik had lost his appetite for the game. This was personal now. She had made a fool out of him, but he would make her pay. Besides, if his teammates would scold him for his actions he would just say she was more of a liability than anything else. A loose canon. Nothing of value would have been lost. After all through the smoke it would be hard for others to notice him targetting his own teammates.

Serena blushed as she caught the white sweater that her Head of House had tossed to her. How had the badger not noticed that everyone else was wearing one? Oh well, at least she knew now. She quickly threw the sweater on and got back into her earlier stance.
Serena watched as the ball came closer to her. She swung and heard a crack of the bat connecting with the ball. But before she had a chance to celebrate, the bat struck once again. Only this time, the side of her head was the target. Pain immediately filled her head. She let go of the bat and brought her left hand up to the spot that was hit. She winced as even more pain rushed through her head. At least Serena had hit the ball.
