Social interactions had gone rather well for the blonde so far, but not everything was bound for perfection. Where she put in a great deal into her classes and acquiring of knowledge, human interaction could sometimes be something of a chore. Anxiety wasn’t unknown to the young Ravenclaw, and as her rival essentially called her foolish, something tightened in her features, though she didn’t leave just yet. No, she could ignore Rain, especially when there was talk of Maria V. Snyder.

“Must be a pretty great owl,” she responded to the turquoise haired girl. “It’s a great series, we should discuss it sometime,” she added. Honestly, she hadn’t meant to stop, hadn’t meant to snoop. Though information could be valuable, there were things that went beyond what she was comfortable hearing. Despite trying to focus on the girl she had crossed paths with, she had no intention to hear about killings. Nope, she would not be accessory to some child’s delusions.

“Anyways, if you ever want to chat, feel free to come talk to me when we cross paths, I uh, forgot my Charms notes in class. I should get those so I can get to work on my homework.” Without much room for further discussion she left the corridor. There was no point in lingering where she wasn’t comfortable being.

[font=Abadi MT Condensed Light]And the random ravenclaw was off, fun, "See ya."

Elena, as she often did, flipped back into there's something more interesting happening mode and went back to watching what the dhampir did. She'd heard something about killing something?

"If there's something you need to kill, have you done any research on it? Forewarned is forearmed, after all." Elena asked, going back to humming something by Queen, "Or I suppose in this case Know Thy Enemy, whichever fake-deep and metaphorical philosophical comment you prefer I suppose."

Elena went back to being quiet, not bothering to continue on anything, all that was needed to say was said and all that. Also dumb ravenclaws was about right, she'd met more smart gryffindors and slytherins than smart ravenclaws. Not that they were uniformally stupid in an IQ way, a wisdom way? Yes, common sense was lacking, often.

Voicing absolutely none of this, Elena went back to wondering if she could in fact compare herself to the song Killer Queen, and which character from Journey To The West she was. Not being able to decide between Sandy and Sun Wukong. Not Tripitaka, and she wasn't nearly lazy enough to end up being Pigsy, now all she had to do was figure out if she was impulsive enough to be the Monkey King.

Looking forward to the Fens? Not by a long shot. He didn't want to go, he wouldn't be planning on going if he didn't have a good reason though, which he had. It was a reason without much reason behind the reasoning that formed it, but it was still a reason, and in the boy's eyes, a reason that was worth dying for. Well, maybe not die. But something pretty close and almost as horrible, like being burned at the stake until near death. Yes, near death seemed very much more reasonable.

"No. -But I'm not scared. I will win."

Scared... When was he not scared? Scared was something that had permeated his very being since the incredible young age of something-or-another, he really couldn't remember. Still, it must have been a very long time ago, because Kaegen could scarcely hold a memory between his fingertips that wasn't laced with fear. That bothered him, or rather, that scared him.

River's tiny slip up of expression was lost on Kaegen. He could barely pick up on the large changes, the little shift, the tiny opening was nothing to him, it didn't help him at all, he didn't even know it had happened.

What was bothering him now was the slytherin girl. She asked if he did any research on it as if he could possibly consider not running in with at least some knowledge. Her statement of the obvious, or perhaps, her insulting jab at his intelligence, then changed into a weird humming tune that he didn't really like, mostly because it shouldn't be existing just then. There were many times where humming should be heard, such as in the music rehearsal chamber of commerce, or whatever it was called, or maybe while you ate. But to hum in a conversation such as this?

"Know thy enemy isn't metaphorical, it's literal."

It was the only comment he could think to make. It was just so out of place, all of it. All of this. Kaegen slowly backed up, inching away from the group towards where he had come from. The corridors were still empty of people. They didn't even have to see the Ravenclaw to know that he was right around the corner. For most, that was enough to make a hasty retreat.
