The Slytherin Table 2019-2020
He nodded back at the brunette who introduced herself as Madeline, but started involuntarily when he saw another girl glare at him.
Oops.
He quickly looked back at his plate. She appeared to be one of the older students.
Maybe he should have stayed quiet, the girl was likely very embarrassed from the attention. He sighed, pulling his glass back over again, swishing it around. His eyes wandered back up and stopped at a locket a silver-haired boy was holding before he pocketed it. Emerly had noticed him looking at it earlier, but didn't want to pry. It usually took concern out of other people's well-being to get him to open up, either that or a lot of fear about his situation, like during the ride on the lake. He had talked a lot then, mostly because he was trying to distract himself from the thought of there being something dangerous in it. He kind of wanted to compliment the locket, it seemed really cool, and admittedly Emerly was curious about what was in it, but maybe that was too much inquiry for today. He merely smiled close-lipped in the boy's direction and became very interested in a fray on his own robe sleeve. Would the food just appear too? He'd have to prepare himself for that one...
At that very moment an entire turkey appeared out of thin air directly in front of him, blocking his view. Surprised, he stared at it, and then lifted his fork and knife. Uh... was someone supposed to carve it? Or would it carve itself?
His face became observably tired again. Only in a place like Hogwarts would he wonder if a turkey would carve itself...

"Excuse me. Are you alright? That glass scratched you." A boy with brown curly hair had spoken shyly to Prim. What is his name? "Um....Yeah, I guess so...." she trailed off. Prim must have said it too quietly because another girl fixed up her glass then told Prim she could help her to the hospital wing. This girl introduced herself as Bridgett Collins "Um, no I think I'm fine," Prim muttered a bit louder this time. She looked down at her hands. They were starting to bleed. "But um...thank you for fixing my glass," Prim said nervously. It was truly amazing. Prim had never seen magic done by a person other than her mom. "Scorgio," she said under her breath. I'll have to remember that. The girl Madeline Doe, as Prim remembered it, introduced herself to Bridget. "I'm Madeline Doe....Uh, first year. Thanks for cleaning that up for us," she said. Madeline then picked up a glass, and as it instantly filled with water she placed it front of Prim. "A-accidents happen to the best of us. We can save your seat if you uh, need to get patched up." Prim felt a wave of gratitude for this girl Madeline. Prim was just a klutz, but Madeline was still being nice. Prim felt a single drop of blood drip down her arm. She immediately turned her head, realizing she hadn't done anything to stop the bleeding. She grabbed a napkin of the table and pat the small cut. It wasn't even deep! She was surprised when someone told her it was bleeding. She crumpled up the napkin and put it on the table. The napkin disappeared out of sight immediately. Magic. She thought. She very slowly picked up the glass Madeline had sat down and carefully took a small sip. No one was really paying attention to her anymore so she took the time to leave the overwhelming world and go into deep thought about the upcoming year.

Mentions: @Emerly Pine"Hey, Madeline. And Bridget," Thora greeted the two girls as her almost-friend walked up to the table. Where had she been? The Slytherin blushed as Bridget cleaned up the mess with a crisp Scourgify. Why hadn't she thought of that? "Thanks, Bridget," Thora mouthed. As she settled in her chair, watching Primrose talk to a curly-haired boy just off to their left, Thora noticed Primrose's fingers seemed to be bleeding. Bridget got to it before her, however, asking Prim whether she was okay. As the first year seemed to be somewhat discomforted and out of place by their incessant worrying, Thora decided to just leave it there. She sent Madeline a quick smile as she helped assure Prim that it would be fine.
Glancing around, she noticed Prim wrapping a napkin around her bloodied fingers. Thora wanted to leave her alone, but she just couldn't leave someone bleeding and hurting, off by themselves. "Hey, Prim," she said softly, as to not draw attention to the already embarrassed girl. "I can bandage that for you," the words spilled out of Thora's mouth. She was about to reach for her alder wand when she paused, waiting for Primrose to answer. Maybe she would be okay. But although the cuts weren't deep, there were many of them. That had to hurt. But as the second year herself didn't appreciate much attention, anyways, she would leave the choice up to Primrose.

Emerly was just about to reach out to take a bit of food when he heard some more voices further down the table. He didn't want to be a bother, but something made him glance back over. He was dismayed to see the same girl from before putting a napkin on her hands to contain the wounds. He quickly looked back forward.
She would definitely have to hop on over to the hospital wing and get that cleaned and bandaged well. The others probably knew what to do... still, just to be safe, he thought he'd say one last thing, "Maybe be sure to get that checked out as soon as you can, or ask a teacher. They probably have something here to lessen the pain, if it hurts." They could bandage it now as well, but having someone well-trained take a look would only help, "I wish I was already a healer, but until then I think some of these others know what to do and where the hospital wing is, antiseptic and stuff. I'm Emerly Pine, by the way. I guess as we're all in the same house we might as well look out for each other." He gave a tentative smile, trying not to be too loud, and turned back to start eating. Come to think of it, though it was a bit odd and he wasn't used to all these floating candles and food appearing out of nowhere, it was actually all really nice. Maybe he'd figure out how to make turkeys appear out of thin air as well, but until then he'd just enjoy it all, even if he didn't quite understand.

The Slytherin Table 2019-2020
Gwen's heart pulsed quickly in her chest as she tentatively approached the Slytherin table.
Raised like a muggle, her understanding of the wizarding world was limited at best. But being an inquisitive student, she'd skimmed through whichever magical texts she could get her hands on.
Isn't Slytherin for the bad guys? How could she have been sorted into the House that betrayed its school and scorned muggles? Her own father and brothers were muggles!
When she thought about it more, she realised that the ambitiousness and cunning nature of Slytherin were more than accurate to her own values. But regardless, the thought of the atrocities committed by the serpentine wizards in the past frightened her.
A sea of green and black writhed before her, undulating as students chattered and reached to fill their plates. Although she was relatively tall for a girl of her age, she felt tiny. Intimidated, even.
Finally, a familiar face. A girl, a first-year like Gwen. She couldn't recall the girl's name, but her light-brown hair was immediately recognisable from the sorting ceremony. Was it Prim? She seemed to be spacing out entirely, and was sat beside a friendly looking girl who must have been in the year above.
"Mind if I sit here?" Gwen asked, smiling nervously as she eyed the students.

"Yeah, no problem," Bridget said in response to the two girls' thanks. She now knew that the black-haired girl was named Madeline and the boy she had expressed an amount of annoyance towards was named Emerly. Perhaps she shouldn't have glared at him because his motives were obviously in the right place, but she couldn't help but feel protective for the poor girl whose name... whose name she still didn't have.Interacting with @Thora Larkston, @Primrose Mcarthy, @Madeline Doe, @Emerly Pine, and @Guinevere Brand
Luckily, Thora chose that moment to mutter a comment about how she could bandage the cuts for her, addressing her as Prim. Bridget wasn't entirely sure what Thora meant--perhaps she knew first-aid--although she did recall reading about such a spell in a book sometime last year. The girl she was starting to consider as a friend was pretty smart, so there was a fair chance she knew how to cast it.
Yet another first year made her way over to them. She was fairly tall, contrasting noticeably with Bridget's shortness, although she looked as though she was trying to fold into herself and disappear.
"Of course," the second year answered when the tall girl asked if she could sit with them. Internally, Bridget was starting to feel overwhelmed by all the people she had to attempt to maintain a conversation with, but she knew from experience the first years deserved a warm welcome. On her first trip aboard the Hogwarts Express, she'd heard several less than appealing things about the House of Snakes and had been quite apprehensive about joining them. Camille and Brynlee had positively adjusted her perspective though, and for that she was thankful. Anyways, hopefully she could work her four underclassmen into a healthy discussion of their own and then sink back into her usual shell.

The Slytherin Table 2019-2020
A wave of relief fell over Madeline. No one seemed to be giving her any bad looks, in fact she got a couple of smiles after offering to save Primrose a seat. Madeline took a few moments to eat, warmth spreading through her chest and into her belly. Her shoulders relaxed and she smiled slightly to herself. Suddenly she was pulled out of her food bliss, as another sorted student walked up, asking to sit. Bridget answered her and Madeline looked up and nodded to the new arrival, not wanting to speak with food in her mouth. She didn't catch the girl's name in the sorting due to the chaos but she looked nervous. Not too surprising. Madeline was wondering though... what made Slytherin so scary? She watched for a moment, as students going to other houses seemed pretty happy with some being upset or maybe sad. When Slytherin was called, it seemed more likely to be negative. Thora did say that they would learn a lot, which was vague but still comforting.
Madeline thought on this for a moment, before returning her thoughts to the table. Not sure who would still want to talk after the pause from the glass shattering. I mean, it couldn't hurt to continue conversation... maybe I just shouldn't come off so strongly. I never thought I would have to think about that. Madeline had been so passive after her sister passed, she forgot how assertive she used to be. Her eyes flicked to people randomly around her and she asked generally to the table, "So, how do you all feel about being sorted into Slytherin? I don't know a whole lot about the houses yet"-- she made a mental note to read up on her Hogwarts: A History later-- "but ours seems a little tenser than the others. I feel like this table gets some... I don't know, judgemental looks?" She said, attempting a nonchalant air, while pushing her plate away and finishing her warm cider. She liked to be informed, and to know everything about what she was working with, but she was trying to be a little more patient. Coming off too brashly didn't work last time. "My family isn't from around here, but from what little they know, they were hoping I'd be in this house." She added lightly after a moment.
Interacting with whoever. She's speaking to the table as a whole if anyone wants to jump in or continue talking to her.

"I can bandage that for you," said Thora. Prim nearly jumped out of her seat-Thora had woken her from her thinking state-making a little yelping noise that she immediately wished to take back in. Prim processed what Thora had said and looked down at her bleeding hands. Those napkins weren't doing anything. "Um...a-actually that would b-be great," Prim stuttered out. Though her hands did hurt quite a bit, she hated drawing any sort of attention to herself and no one would stop glancing at her hands with concerning looks. The boy whose name she did not know started speaking and honestly Prim was mostly blocking it out, but then he finally introduced himself. "I'm Emerly Pine by the way," he said. "I guess as we're in the same house we might as well look out for each other." As soon as he said this Prim immediately wished she had listened to what he was saying before. She gained sort of an admiration for him. For the whole of the people she had just met. They were all so nice! All of a sudden he sorting had started speaking again and cried another house. "SLYTHERIN!" A tall girl started toward their group of Slytherins. More people? She approached them confidently but spoke nervously. "Mind if I sit here?" The girl named Bridget said yes and the new first year took her seat. After that no conversation was occurring. Madeline started up some conversation but Prim had no intent of joining in. Prim felt so overwhelmed and began to freak out again. After about 30 seconds she realized she'd been holding her breath. She immediately let it all out with a loud breath and got quite a few weird looks from the surrounding people. Prim had no reason to freak out. No one here was mean or anything like that. But the worst possible situations were playing over and over in Prim's head. I need to calm down. No one else here is freaking out like I am. Not even the really tall first year who just came down from the front! I think I just need some air or space or something. Then Prim asked with her eyes shut tight looking down, "When will the feast be over? Can I go to my dorm?"

Mentions: @Madeline DoeThora raised her head from Primrose's bleeding fingers as another soft voice spoke up. A rather-tall girl had joined the small party and asked if she could join. Hoping that Bridget wouldn't send her away or anything, Thora opened her mouth to answer. Bridget beat her to it, though, welcoming the new first year to their table. Taking a deep breath, Thora fought not to melt into anxiousness. It was just too loud here. Glancing at the new first year, Thora smiled, "Hey, I'm Thora. And feel free to sit there." It certainly took more than Thora wanted to admit to step out of her comfort zone, to take a trip out of the box and be the welcoming second year. Last year, there had been no one to welcome her in, so the snek knew that anything--whether it be a helping hand or just a welcoming smile--would help out new students.
"Hi, Emerly," Thora nodded to the boy who had just spoken up. Honestly, she did need to get Primrose to a professor or maybe the Hospital Wing, but this would do for now. Maybe if nobody could distract her, this might just work. "Please work, please work, please work," Thora muttered as she drew her aspen wand. "Okay, just hold still for a couple moments," she instructed Primrose as she imagined the wand motion and incantation. She had only tried this spell once and it had kind of been by chance. "Ferula," Thora said firmly, tapping Primrose's bleeding fingers smartly. The second year cringed as more than a few people whirled around to stare at her. "Sorry," she squeaked, fighting the urge to draw back into her shell and just enjoy a good dinner alone.
Glancing back at her handiwork, she smiled in satisfaction as bandages magically appeared and wrapped themselves around the first year's fingers. "Hope that helps," Thora breathed with a smile at the same time Primrose said something about dorms. Did she not want to stay? Thora felt kind of bad for embarrassing her with the bandages, but obviously, some things just had to be done.
"Well, I would say to enjoy the feast, and then the prefects will come and take you all to the dorms. Are you fine?" Thora asked concernedly, as the girl was looking a little pale, with her hands clenched and eyes closed. The second year was undoubtedly kind, but she often had trouble conveying her feelings--much less sharing about her own experiences. "Um, don't worry, I know Hogwarts can be quite overwhelming at first, but it'll be fine. I'm not positive you've gotten your dorm assignments yet, but I don't know. Um, why don't you stay, I'm sure we can talk some," Thora stuttered out a painfully unconvincing plead. She knew what it felt like to be the odd one out, and she didn't want anyone else to feel like that.
Well, Primrose could decide for herself. Turning to Bridget, Thora sank down in her seat, finally starting on her dinner. "Well, hey, Bridget," Thora started awkwardly, "So, how have you been this summer?" One of the lamest conversation starters ever. Hopefully the two second years wouldn't talk for too long--she did want to talk with the new first years if she had a chance. Honestly, being a second year was just... too much. Social interaction was not her thing, but she did have to somewhat step it up. Maybe it was true, and maybe she just had too-high expectations for herself. Either way, being an overachiever, Thora would do her best to step out of her comfort zone this year.Abilities Used: Prodigal Charms Learner

The Slytherin Table 2019-2020
Another girl with brown hair joined the table. Emerly heard someone mention his name and he looked over in surprise, previously busy piling stuff on his plate. He raised a shy hand and gave a little wave, "Hi..." and trailed off. Had she said her name? There were so many females he was starting to lose track of everything, and he didn't want to call her the wrong name. As a matter of fact he noticed that almost everyone at the table in his immediate vicinity except himself and the blonde-haired boy who had a locket were girls, including the two he'd sat next to upon first arriving, both with black hair and seemingly pleasant demeanors- strange... was Slytherin known for favoring females? As if to make things more surprising he also noticed that bandages had miraculously appeared on Primrose's hands. He remembered her name, as it was being spoken very often. He was glad it had been dealt with, though he hadn't seen how exactly.
He noted that no one yet had answered the other girl who had inquired into the rest of the table, "You haven't heard of the Second Wizarding War? Voldemort? I mean, personally I don't see what the problem is- just because this house was known for its discrimination and villians doesn't mean it still has to be." he wasn't being impolite, just genuinely curious. She seemed a noble sort, maybe... no... but possibly... someone who had been raised in this world? Emerly quickly shut his mouth. He was treading into dangerous territory. He instead stuffed it with a few bites of food and looked busy.

@Guinevere Brand, she's next in line, and answered @Madeline Doe's question, mentions @Dorothy Clementine and @Yoshiya Masumi in passing xD trying to include the other first years (hope they don't mind) like before so I can break off if it's too big of a crowd here. Nevertheless, if nobody responds I can just continue on as it were.
