He bit his lip in though and nodded. ”Yeah I get what you mean... detention sounds tempting-”, he said starting to grin lightly. ”Then again I don't want it to be boring, I would rather get away with sneaking out after curfew”, he explained the other boy with a chuckle.

”Well, firstly because you know that what you have is actually valuable and it seems just plain stupid to fight over a piece of paper just because it has color and some weird value”. Of course carrying galleons could be stressful, but that was what a charmed purse was for. It was small and could hold a lot of money without gaining much weight. ”Do you have any Muggle money? I just have a few coins for the case that I need it when meeting a Muggle or going to a Muggle store, he explained and hoped to see what Lamik meant with the prints. He never noticed it when he held the paper money; he never pad much thought to it and just thought it was a weird system. But what the blond boy was saying did actually sound interesting. He just knew that different colors of paper money meant different value.

"Well you need to remember the price factor. It costs far more for muggles to make money out of gold and silver- they don't have all the magic that they can use to create those metals, and they definitely don't have the necessary resources to press what could amount to tens of billions of coins. Gold is also a lot heavier then paper, and Muggles don't have any magic to prevent that." Lamik explained. He genuinely hoped that he had gotten all the reasons right, because if he hadn't it would be somewhat embarrassing. He was the one out of the two who knew the most about muggles, after all.

Lamik nodded when Alan asked about whether or not he had any money. "I do. Quite a bit actually. I keep it in the dorms. Its for emergencies and stuff, but I can show you it if you want. There are some really cool stuff. For example there is a tiny quill hidden in one of them which changes from orange to purple depending on the angle that its held at." Obviously, there were much more impressive things then just color changing quills, but that little detail was simply the first thing that came to mind.

Again Lamik was right and Alan was kind of impressed how smart the other Gryffindor boy was. He, no lie, could have been a Ravenclaw and ALan would have never doubted the Hat's decision. However Alan was proud and happy to know, that he had people like Lamik in his house. The two of them could no doubt be good friends and Alan looked forward to that. "You are right, the Muggles would have to do all that manually so all of the machines and what not would take a lot of energy that the Muggles cannot simply remake by going to sleep or resting... Well that is somehow how I can see magic, you know? I get far worse at casting when I am tired", he exolained to the younger Gryffindor with a small smile. Was this just him or was it normal? Not that Alan cared for the answer. He was awful at casting, but his magic seemed to be powerful.

"I would really like that!", he exclaimed cheerfully. Those coins, right? They don
t normally have a lot of value in the Muggle world compared to the paper right?"[/b], he continued to ask, not even thinking that he may annoy the other boy with al the questions. But if he would notice the blond boy's discomfort, Alan would defenitely stop his questioning session and postpone it to another day. Well hopefully Lamik could understand his curiosity. Do you have any questions about the wizarding world, perhaps?", he asked to return the favor of answering all of them stupid, small questions.

Lamik chuckled nervously. "I have way too many questions to even count." As he said that, the boy went over some of the things that he still wanted to know: How does the ministry keep the wizarding world a secret? What prevents muggles from walking into the leaky couldron? Why does no one seem to notice that wizards literally run through walls when entering platform 9 3/4? Those questions (and many, many, more) had all been floating around for quite a while now, and Lamik could never seem to get an answer that satisfied him. Maybe Alan could help shed some light on what he wanted to know.

Before any questions were asked though, Lamik wanted to make good on his word. "How about we make a deal-" he began. "-I show you the muggle money and anything else you wanna see, and you answer any of my questions about the wizarding world." Lamik had a similar deal with a girl named Saskia Nicholson, where he helped her with the muggle items she didn't know how to use in exchange for help with his homework. It worked pretty well with he, so the boy figured it could work well with Alan too.

[quote]Alan nodded at the proposition of Lamik. That sounded like a good and fair deal. "I will reply the questions I know the answer to! We can switch, you one question and I ask one and so on-" Alan would explain it with such an enthusiasm as if he just created the best game. Then again it did sound like a lot of fun to learn more about the culture of his friend and his relatives.

So.. who is going to start with asking a question? Shall we play rock, paper scissors?", he asked and held up his hand, ready to begin with the small challenge, a grin beginning to form on his lips as he waited for the other Gryffindor to do the same. Lamik was his name or so, Alan was not the best at names, so he would have to come up with a nickname for a possible new friend. Alan would really like that, because Lamik sounded like a nice guy and was probably a great friend as well. He was a year below Alan, so he might be even able to help the younger boy with his homework if needed; in return he could learn more and more about Muggles and how the dealt with life.

Lamik was happy that Alan seemed enthusiastic about the idea. The boy knew that sometimes people weren't very keen on taking the time to teach and help others, even if they gained something from it too. It was strange, really, and Lamik didn't really understand it. Why not take the time? Even if you don't get any payment or reward, you're still helping someone AND possibly making a new friend. Either way, Lamik thought that both sides tended to come out better off then they were before. Maybe Alan agreed and maybe he didn't, but at least he wanted to help.

When the older boy offered to play rock paper scissors, Lamik raised his hand infront of him and shook his head as if saying hold on. "This all started with you wanting to see the money, so thats what we'll start with. We have the whole year for back and forth questions, don't we?" It still seemed strange to Lamik that wizards used money made out of gold. After all, gold was so heavy and expensive- even with magic, the boy couldn't really wrap his head around it.

hey! Do you want to end this thread and start another one in the Gryffindor common room for the money thing?

Alan nodded, when Lamik said they had the full year to go back and forth with questions. The blond kid was right and Alan was thinking about a nice nickname for the child. He would look at him and try to figure out what he found out about this kid; he was a Grffindor like him and knew a lot about Muggles, since he grew up with them. But he did not know much else yet except for that he rescued his feather and that Alan gave him his Hogsmeade Fake Permission Slip.

"Technically we have a whole lot of years until graduation to ask each other questions", he said correcting the other boy, not having found a fitting nickname for the kid yet. "We will see another around I think, maybe we could eat breakfast together or something when we see each other in the Great Hall?", he proposed gently, smiling at the other child and hoped that they could be friends. After all Lamik had helped Alan out and Alan was thankful for that; he had spend most of his pocket money on that feather ad was worried he could lose it. Well he did not, all thanks to Lamik and even found a friend, somehow. Or he hoped he had found a friend?

"Let's head back to the castle!", he said and began to walk back, after picking up the rest of his stuff.

"7 years isn't that much." Lamik said before quickly adding: "Or 6 in our case, I guess, since you'll finish school a year before me." For some reason, Lamik felt as though his first year had passed extremely fast- almost as if he had arrived not at the beginning of the school year, but on the 26th of March, a completely arbitrary date with absolutely zero meta connections. If the next few school years would go by as quickly, Lamik worried that he would barely be able to experience anything at all before becoming an adult and moving on with his life.

"What kind of friend would I be if I didn't want to hang out with you over lunch?" Lamik wondered out loud in response to Alans comment about seeing each other. "And ya, let's go to the common room. I can show you everything there." Lamik began walking after Alan, wondering what coin or bill he should start with. Really it didn't matter, but the boy needed something to occupy his thoughts and I needed something to bring me over the word count. In the end, he decided that he would begin with a simple penny. Why? Well, there was no particular reason other then his feeling like it.
