The Unstoppable Force Vs the Immovable Object fin

“Nothing is the matter with me.”

Howard let out a low chuckle. He was anything but fine as far as Erin was concerned. There was this knot twisting up in her stomach as the seconds passed like hours and Howard acts as if there was nothing wrong. Was this what it felt like to be fucking normal? How in the nine hells was anyone empty! The agitation, the guilt and the worry were heavier than the larger student's grip as she trudged onward.

“We can fight if you want. You might actually win this time.”

"As if I ever lose," she totally lost more encounters than she won with Howard but her pride was not going to allow her to admit it.

“But something happened down there. I know you must have felt it to. They showed me something. I saw...no, felt a change coming. It’s hard to describe. Things will be completely different now.”

Yeah, she felt it and she did not like it. She thought she would. The pain that Howard had wrought was like a novelty for the selfish little girl. The problem now was that feeling did not go away, it was no longer a flicker of light in a dark room or a candle to lead her down an unlit path, it was constant and unyielding. It was overwhelming.

"It was a mistake," she admitted. The statement had two meanings. She should not have made that deal, this was a prize she never should have coveted and Howard was better before. Not when they were at each-others throats but even that would be welcome in comparison to the feeling he was giving her now. No, before this. Before she started playing her games with him to sate her boredom and to fulfill the want of a coven of crones. She missed Howie. Not that they ever could have been friends in either state, but there was this inner, moral sense that the world would have been a better place had she not intervened. "Fuck I am sorry," she repeated. Had she said that before? Yes she had, not that she could even remember. He wobbled and Erin braced him, her uncanny brawn useful for once.

“Is that what you ask for then? To be like me?”

It was true, she had said it before to him -- she wanted what he had. She coveted it like a man would another's wife. "Maybe," she muttered. Yes. That was what she wanted, so simple and so cheap. His grip tightened on her shoulders and Erin grimaced. How the hell does this Huff-puff have a grip after all of this bullshit she wondered.

“Go on...tell me. What did they give you? I can feel it, there is something different about you. Did they...try and fix you?”

He had already figured it out, that much was obvious. She caught the smirk out of the corner of her eye and looked away. "Somethinglikethat," she replied her mouth full of marbles as she said it. "I mean -- nothing," she snapped as she shook her head. "I was there for the lawls," she lied as she started to put her defenses back up.

Whatever they gave Howard, whatever they promised him, she knew one thing for certain it was a prize he only thought he wanted. It was very... very bad.

“Yes... It’s a tool. I’m not sure when I’m supposed to use it, but I know it will help in the change to come. Others will try to stop me, this I felt for sure, and with these I will be able to silence them.”

Her heart hastened, she was not sure why. She felt as if someone had punched her in the gut and let all of the air out. It was not the words he used but how he said it. She slowed her pace, the duo was quite the bloody scene, not that the Slytherin was ever seen as a part of a duo the blood was more common than the Professors and the Prefects would like to admit. Sometimes the blood was hers, sometimes it was not. This time it was not hers. She had no retort, just the sense that she done fucked up. She tried to change the subject, give them a destination because despite their protracted period of physical closeness this was not the prelude to an amorous meeting. No, she was going to try and get him some help.

She did not trust the Professors or the Prefects, she did not believe that they did not notice all of the students that disappeared and she refused to believe that their disappearances had no relevance. She did not entirely trust Howard either, but she could feel him and neither of them were really bright enough to keep a decent secret, but he came back changed. His transformation was simply coincidental in truth but she did not know that. She did not have any friends in Hogwarts, just her brother and while there was a love there for him he was absolutely useless. Geoffrey's fate was more likely to be a future trophy husband than anything great. Paracelsus, he tolerated her and well... he was even dumber than her by some awesome feat. There was Alex, that muggle-born hick. He was pretty useless and his recent discovery of girls made him even more useless, he failed to even help her test butterbeer dosing so she could subdue a giant. He would be of no help here. The only person that came to mind was that Ravenclaw that dragged her out of the Ravenclaw common area after Howard sliced her open. He had no reason to, he even seemed to give a shit, which was ironic considering where they met. He was also probably smart, smarter than the two of them at least.

He would know what to do maybe, she concluded.

“Yes...he spoiled our fun.”

"Yeah," she shifted under him, she was getting sore. "Fun," she echoed. Something she might have meant a few hours ago but the word seemed less fitting now. It was confusing, disorienting even. The tone of her voice betrayed her words of course, speaking the truth her words failed to. She took a breath as she told him where they were going, she did not want to have to fight him to take him there. Hell just froze over with that revelation. She did not want to fight him.

“Good idea. Take me to him.”

"Betting the library," she announced as they made it to the base of the shifting stair. The frazzled teen would look over at a pair of Gryffindors, they gave her a disproving stare. She steeled herself as she remembered to play the role she always had. "Fuck you staring at Gryffindorks?" She was laying it on a bit thick, even by her standards as she contorted her face into some sort of angry-seeming stare. Yes, she was off her game, her purple hair standing on end and her clothes splattered in the Hufflepuff's blood. She was tired and a bit sweaty, maybe even a bit dirty. She did not really bother looking herself over when they exited that dungeon. Looking over at Howard she released he was filthy. Merlin, she probably looked disgusting as well. Last priority now really...

Made a follow-up thread in the library. Arc is already aware. Bloody Expectant

Just a trick of the lighting they said...
