Card Decorating Table Errand

The Great Hall was… different. It was only September the sixteenth, so why were there Christmas decorations this early? Surely, I was dreaming. To check, I kicked the nearest table leg. “Oww,” I groaned as a swelling, stabbing pain emerged from my big toe. I was definitely awake.

12 giant pine trees were placed inside the vast room. Wreaths of holly were strewn over the walls, connected by thick, red ribbons tied into bows. Mistletoe bunches hung from the enchanted ceiling, and a huge banner clearly stated why we were celebrating Christmas so soon:

100 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

That was when I noticed that instead of the usual four tables, they had been split into three. One was designated for Ornaments; another for Cookie Decorating and a third for Card Making. I beelined for the Card creating bench. The Hufflepuff Prefect, Jrue Peterson, was snipping away at some pieces of coloured card.

As soon as I sat down, I grabbed a pair of scissors and started cutting a bright yellow card. I was going to send it to Mum after I finish the activities. I added a black heart in the centre with a hand drawn badger on it. Mum would love it!
Inside, I wrote:
Dear Mum,
I hope you are doing well. Hogwarts is amazing – the only reason why I would ever want to leave is you. Can’t wait to see you at Christmas!
Love, Willow xx
And then I left for Cookie Decorating, thanking Jrue Peterson as I went.
