Feasting on New Beginnings

“Oh…” Wes said, arching a brow at her, but still chuckled. It was a confusing. A simple thing really, goggles, while it could look silly he would never thought anything odd about it. “Well it helps see underwater and you don’t have to worry about them burning.”

“Most likely I’ll go home. We usually travel for Christmas. Last year we went to Australia for a warm one.” He paused and looked up at the ceiling that was bewitched to show the night sky. “I honestly prefer a warm Christmas. A Christmas swim is really nice, versus a cold dreary London one. I’ll be wearing some goggles. I’m thinking my parents said Germany this year, but I’m not sure.” Wes then laughed a little to himself. “But we’ll be flying in a plane, no broomsticks.”

He finished up his food, it had looked like everyone was pretty much finished now and the feast was coming to an end. “You have a big family then, I’m guessing?” Must be fun to get everyone together.” His family was not large, so they really did not have many large get togethers. So that is why they travelled, a nice break for everyone. Including his parents. Even though he grew up in the Muggle World, Wes did grow up fairly privileged.

Feasting on New Beginnings
Taylor was surprised, her eyebrows raising. The little boy seemed to do so much stuff during the holidays ! She didn't leave her country much - her vacation were usually spent in neighbouring countries or visiting family. The furthest she went was Italy, she thought.

But when she heard Wes describing Australia and a warm Christmas, it all felt a bit crazy to her. "Like, a Christmas on the beach ?" she asked in a giggle. The idea of a father winter on the Australian beach seemed funny.

"I barely traveled in plane. I'm kind of scared of it, and my parents like to watch the road scenery. At least that's what they say. I find it so long, waiting in the car."

She smiled at the image. In those long car rides, Taylor and her brother would usually play games, like finding a yellow car the fastest or playing cards. That, or find creative activities that don't drive the parents mad with how much she talks. Singing in the car is something she does a lot, she thought.

Taylor took a minute to answer Wes' question. Her family. "Well, yeah. My parents both have siblings, but most of them don't live in England. For the holidays we switch between the houses, but we always celebrate twice. Once with my mom's family and once with my dad's."

Then she thought again. "Three, actually. We do celebrate it once in our nuclear family. So my parents, my brother and I. That's when we get the big presents. Merlin, I love Christmas. I already can't wait !"
