"The age-old rivalry. I'd like to say it's been phased out, but I've met too many Gryffindors ready to pick a fight." Pyce heard their mother laugh good naturedly.

"Oh, you have a brother? What's it like having a sibling?"

"I like him well enough. He gets me in trouble, though." Pyce managed to get the cauldron full of supplies up onto the counter.

"School shopping, are you?" The lady behind the counter asked.

"Yes, ma'am." Pyce nodded. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could we get the phials wrapped?"

"Of course. These are more resilient than your everyday glass, but it is better safe than sorry, isn't it." She hummed to herself as she wrapped the phials in newspapers. Pyce wondered if Katelyn had ever seen a wizard newspaper. It was very mundane for them, but moving pictures were not normal for people with more muggle experiences. The shopkeeper put all of the things back in the cauldron and tallied up the total. "That will be a galleon, 16, 23." Pyce set the two galleons on the counter. The lady took them and handed Pyce back 6 knuts. They pocketed them swiftly before retrieving their cauldron.

"Thank you!" They chirped. Pyce turned back to Katelyn. "I have no idea why we don't use pounds." They said it so seriously. Because this was a serious issue, and Pyce lost their mind over it every time they thought about it. "You can't split a galleon cleanly. Impossible. Whoever made magic currency liked odd numbers and the rest of us suffer for it every day."

Why is currency such a big issue? Have you ever tried to split money with your sibling? Perhaps it's allowance money, maybe you found a dollar. Just- don't give the twins a galleon to share.

"Really? Must be nice having a sibling to get in trouble with. I'm an only child, sadly. And I highly doubt I'm ever getting a sibling..." Katelyn commented with a bittersweet smile, muttering the last part mostly to herself. Her attention was turned to the lady behind the counter. With some effort, she got her cauldron on the counter as Pyce paid for both of their items.

Katelyn watched the lady wrap the phials with newspaper; she could've sworn she saw the images on the paper move. She rubbed her eyes, thinking she must've been seeing things. She watched the lady put the wrapped-up phials in her and Pyce's cauldrons. After Pyce paid for their items, Katelyn carefully pulled her cauldron off the counter and into her hands, nearly stumbling back in the process.

When she turned back to Pyce, she listened to them rant about the magic currency they use. Chuckling at how serious they were about it, even if she still didn't fully understand it. Looking down at her cauldron at the wrapped phials, she saw something moving on the pages. Grabbing one, she held it up, getting a better view of a picture on the page, actually moving like it was on a screen. "Um..Pyce? Is...is the image moving?? But it's paper? How?-" Katelyn was utterly confused. How could the image be moving on paper?

"Yeah!" Pyce chirped, walking towards the door, glancing back at their mother every so often. It's not like they'd get in trouble, but at the very least, she was keeping Katelyn's mother distracted. "A lot of pictures move. Funnily enough, taking the picture is identical to when muggles do it. It's in developing the pictures where they start to move! It captures the moment, rather than just a snapshot of it." They readjusted their cauldron, hoping to hold the thing in one hand at least long enough to open the door. The thin metal handle was not comfortable to grip... "Wait until we get to Hogwarts! More than just the newspaper moves!" Like paintings! And stairs! And walls. Pyce had heard about the ever elusive Room of Requirement. More than a few stories were about their mother or Aunt Lea getting into trouble in there. Which, it seemed like the perfect place for tomfoolery. Maybe they'd get to see it! That would be so cool! But one had to wonder under what circumstances they would see it, if ever.

"Hey, you wanna learn about spells, right?" Pyce asked, glancing once more at their mother. "Because I know the perfect place where we can read up." They knew that the smile they were wearing was nothing short of complete mischief.

Pyce, you have noodle arms. Use both hands to hold the cauldron. Also, Flourish and Blotts anyone?

Katelyn was utterly baffled by the concept of moving pictures on something other than a screen. "Wow...I still don't fully get it but that's still cool." Katelyn put the wrapped phial back in her cauldron, making sure to keep her grip on her cauldron so she doesn't drop anything. She looked at Pyce when they mentioned a place to read up on spells, which made a grin break out on her face. "You mean the bookstore we need to get our textbooks from, right? Let's go over there."

Katelyn started to make her way over to the front door of the shop with Pyce following her. Octavia would notice Katelyn and Pyce leaving, calling out to them-but mostly for Katelyn. "Katelyn, where are you going?" Katelyn groaned in irritation before looking back at her mother, irritation clear in her face. "We're just going to the bookstore, we have to go there anyway. Lay off!"

Katelyn snapped at her mother before storming out of the shop with Pyce tailing behind her. Octavia only watched with a tired sigh. "What am I going to do with that girl?.." Clearly Octavia and Katelyn weren't on the best of terms with how irritable Katelyn seemed to be whenever she had to converse with her mother. It was clear Octavia needed some serious advice on how to deal with her daughter.
