Quidditch Gryffindor vs. Slytherin - Spring 2025

Percival bit back a sigh as he looked towards the towering towers that surrounded the Quidditch pitch. It felt like being watched by hundreds of tiny ants. Somewhat forgettable really, and by lady lucks standards he'd laugh. The boy gripped onto his bat tightly his brows furrowing. Hopefully he can make the sky run red today. A smile pulled across his face as he climbed onto his broom. Before taking off into the skies.

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

3. In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

Second-String Actions

On the bench, there was nearly as much action as there was on the pitch! On the Gryffindor side, two raucous boys cheered loudly for one of their captains, Ethan. Suffice to say Ethan would definitely be able to hear the mixing voices of Nicholas and Charles from where he hovered midair on his broom! As for the ladies of the scarlet second-string, both Oonagh and Avery G. stayed quiet, observant eyes darting over the pitch and picking up details that could be useful for them later when they made it to the sky.

The Slytherin area of the second-string bench had some similar actions... and one not-so-similar. The second-string Seeker, Violeta, was also cheering on her captain Dan, as if his exit from the game would not have offered her a chance at glory and success; she was certainly loud enough to hear from the pitch as well. Two other girls sat nearby, quietly observing their own details of the game: Charlotte and Remedy, the latter sunblocked and manicured. Finally, the lone boy on the bench for the snakes seemed to have brought some sort of a snack to his first Quidditch match. Certainly he was the first person ever to have done that! The food would give him a little temporary boost of energy, though it would probably wear off before he got the chance to fly.

The Quaffle

Following in the footsteps of the morning match, three lasses dove for the Quaffle as if it were the most precious thing in the world. Few often remembered that the shiny red leather ball also created points out of nothing, but today, it seemed that Alliasta, Koko, and Mellani all had that very notion on their minds! Unfortunately for the younger and newer Alliasta, the elder Slytherin girls managed to snatch the Quaffle from under her nose five times in a row - Koko thrice, and Mellani twice. "Oof! Bad luck there, Holista. Don't worry, we've all been there. But wait, what's Riddle doing? Clearly she's decided she'd prefer to score on hoops than guard her own!"

This was yelled out by the announcer because Koko had scored - "That's ten points to Slytherin from Riddle! She's not going down without a fight in her last match!" Mellani, too, was not to be counted out, and she too scored a goal - albeit just barely - against the Gryffindor Keeper, Kora, who seemed to be flying so fast she was barely a blur around the hoops. "Careful, Eliot, you'll make yourself dizzy!"

Two more from Koko sunk through the hoops, and it seemed like the announcer was just about to make another comment about Kora flying too fast when Mellani approached for a fifth and final time with the Quaffle and - "Wow! I take it back! What a high-speed catch from Eliot to keep the score at forty-nil Slytherin! She was not having that last one from Miller, eh, folks?"

The Snitch

The Snitch had decided to perch itself atop the Gryffindor Seeker's head. Perhaps not the brightest move by the small golden ball, but as it hovered above Aodhan's hair, it became increasingly obvious that despite his closeness to its flittering wings, he was not going to spot it. The commentator did her best to not disclose the Snitch's location through chuckles: "And it seems that some of the audience has spotted the Snitch, but we implore you all not to assist our players with any hints or aid!"

However, the experienced Slytherin Seeker - years older and, for some reason, with his dogs out on the pitch - noticed right away. Who was to be surprised, though? At this point, it would've been stranger if Dan hadn't seen the Snitch. "Aaand it looks like Palmer has spotted it, too. Big shock there! Now the fun can start..."

The Bludgers

The Bludgers were out for blud today as they whizzed from their box and into the sky, and three of the four Beaters on the pitch dove to intercept them. However, one Beater looked vaguely different for a moment, and the commentator gasped. "Oh my Merlin, is that - yes, I believe so. Smith is dual-wielding with Zhang's bat! When did he grab that? I don't believe we've ever seen either of these teams attempt this move!" Alas, despite Ethan reaching both of the bludgers first and swinging his two bats at them one after the other with mighty thwacks and cracks, neither iron missile found its target - with the first whizzing just past Oliver and the second just over Avery's shoulder. "Bollocks. No hits from Smith. Better luck next time with dual-wielding, mate."

The Slytherin Beaters were having better luck, or at least Percival was as he smacked a Bludger clean into Alliasta's torso; he was too accurate for her to even try evading, and she tumbled limp from her broomstick, which shattered beneath her from the sheer force of the blow. With no one on save duty, and two members of the lion team not yet in attendance, Alliasta had no choice but to fall unconcious to the ground. "Oh! And it's Holista, out of the match. Just bad luck for her. Can we get some Healers over here, please?"

However, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for the snakes - the Bludger had hit Alliasta in just such a way that it ricocheted off of her and towards one of their own, Maggie. It slammed into her with not quite full force, and she was older and stronger than Alliasta too, so she survived the hit, clinging onto her broomstick - but it still certainly must have hurt. "Yikes! And the hit off Holista ricochets into Hawkins, but she manages to stay in the match! Rainwood does know that he's only supposed to hit the ones in red, right? Do we think we ought to have him tested for colour-blindness?"

The last Beater to hit a Bludger was Oliver, who after avoiding Ethan's hit earlier decided to take out his revenge on Pax. "And the young Armani, fresh off the bench from last match, goes after Gryffindor captain Zhang - but they evade! What a skillful bit of flying. Well done there to both."

KOB Fouls

Each side had their own disgusting cheater of Blatchville, Tennessee, with Pax and Maggie setting their sights respectively on taking Dan and Ethan out of the match. Pax steeled themselves and headed straight for the formidable Snitch-spotting Slytherin Seeker, and for a moment it seemed as if he would dodge or they would miss, but no! A rowdy cheer came up from the crowd as Pax rammed Dan directly off of his broom, and even the commentator grinned slightly, for the Slytherin Seeker had made many a Quidditch enemy during his time at Hogwarts. However, no amount of vindication could allow for that kind of nasty rule-break. "Zhang! I mean, thank you, but c'mon, mate. Penalty lap right now!"

All of the anti-Slytherin fans who had cheered on Dan's demise would shut their pie holes in a moment as Avery C. swooped in to not only rescue him but also return him to his broom. Did the boy have some sort of saviour complex or something? Well, if nothing else, the blatch had surely felt good.

As for the injured Maggie, she went for the dual-wielder Ethan; ramming into him, she managed to knock him off the broom as swiftly and smoothly as a gust of wind, heading off speedily - so much so that when the referee went to look, it seemed as if no one had even touched the falling Gryffindor. "Oh! Er, and Smith's... fallen from his broom, I guess? Freak accident? Quick, at least toss Zhang their bat back!" Luckily, Pax would be able to recover their bat, but not their teammate, as they headed off on their pax-alty lap.

As the game began, Pax tossed their bat to Ethan. It definitely wasn't the most conventional of strategies, but new times meant new tactics. As the chaos swirled around them on the pitch, they carefully lined up, launching into Dan, laughing a little as he tumbled from his broom. It was only slight vindication, after all. However, that joy was short-lived when they spotted Avery waiting below, ready to save the Slytherin seeker.

"Damn it, Chen," they muttered, as they flew off to conduct their penalty lap.

The roar of the crowd was lost to Avery as she carefully watched the game. Calculating every move and every trick that each side played. She wanted to be ready and know what to expect when her time to be on the pitch came.

She winced as she watched two of her teammates get knocked out from the bludgers. Things were not in their favor at the moment as points were scored in favor of the Slytherin side. She knew it was only early in the game, but she was itching to get out there. But, for now, she would sit and observe the events of the game and carefully calculate it.

Koko and Mellani were damn good.

They dove after the Quaffle with no respite, not even letting the poor Gryffindor have a shot at it. When the Quaffle found its way into Koko's greedy hands, she easily tossed it into the hoops, a smirk on her lips. But when Mellani took hold of it, Koko pulled back and grinned, exclaiming, 'Yes!! You've got this!!' all while she excitedly clapped her hands. They traded the Quaffle well, and when Alliasta finally blocked one of Mellani's shots, Koko rolled her eyes and flew closer to her teammate. 'Clearly a fluke. You did great.'

She didn't even bother to look at Dan — she was certain he knew how to find the Snitch. He'd been doing it for years, after all. But what caught her attention was Percival, who had been hitting bludgers for years, but had apparently not gotten the fucking message: you do not bludger your teammates. She turned her broom away from Mellani and watched the fiasco — Alliasta dropped, thank fucking Merlin, and then clearly not any other Gryffindors!

'The fuck, Rainwood?' she muttered under her breath. 'We're the green ones...'

Her voice trailed off as she angled her broom back towards Slytherin's goalposts, as was habit. She kept an eye on the Quaffle just in case, but hissed through her teeth when she saw Dan falling through the sky because of...

'Pax!?'

The Beater's name escaped her lips before she could hush herself. She stared, dumbfounded, as the Gryffindor had to embark on a penalty lap. What had happened while she wasn't looking!? She glanced around, bewildered, before realising she would likely not find out.

Her smirk returned as Avery neatly returned Dan to his broom — by Merlin, she would miss that kid — and her chin lifted proudly as she shot a glance at Pax. 'Maybe leave cheating to the chasers, huh?' she called after them.

If they were offended, she could apologise later. Quidditch was Quidditch. Feelings, and people, would get hurt.

In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).

In the role of Keeper a critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice. A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.

Note: Critical failure and critical success chances can be expanded with certain abilities and skills.

In the role of Keeper, if the Keeper effectively blocks an attempt to score rather than obtain possession of the quaffle they can kick the quaffle at the user who attempted to score. This must be declared at the time actions are submitted. This would have damage like a bludger using an accuracy roll to hit and the user's strength score to determine the amount of damage done. If the quaffle hits or misses the target, a quafflegrab the next round would be necessary to determine which team has possession of the quaffle again.

The first round was going well, well-ish if he was being more honest. Slytherin scored 40 points compared to Gryffindor's zero. Proving that they were better, Oliver didn't quite know how to feel about that. He loved Gryffindor as a house, he was meant to be there. If he was they wouldn't be loosing. He had dodged a Bulger, then made an attempt to hit it back at someone on the team in red, sadly missing. But it was ok. It would be ok. They would win, and Oliver could tell his parents that he won. He shook off the miss, next time.

"Crap!"Charles whispered to himself as Slytherin broke through the defence and steered into the lead. His teammates seemed pretty frustrated, from what he could see as he looked around. Charles caught a glimpse of Ethan, who did not seem to have the morale after Slytherin's feisty manoeuvre. "Come on, Ethan, you got this!!!" Charles exclaimed, hoping to uplift his disappointment.

Meyra was a bit distracted that day. It frustrated her that on her first game as one of the players starting the game her head seemed to want to be live in the clouds. Maybe she was just too exhausted from all de assignments? She should have been more dedicated...now was everything weighing on her back.

She sighed, and shook her head, it was time to focus, no more day dreaming when Slytherin just scored forty points and they had just started loosing players.
