The Spring Tumberton - Part 1
Dennis was happily surprised that the chaos of his family didn’t shock her or make her pull her hair out or make her run from their home in a panic. Throughout the dinner and the sometimes idle, sometimes embarrassing chitchat, Dennis had come to really admire his friend. She had a difficult life, one that he was still having a hard time understanding. A father who kept her in school even on exigent weekends, a mother who…for all Dennis knew was gone but not gone gone, at least he didn’t think so. A grandfather who was dying of Dragon Pox that she dearly loved and a cousin whom she hadn’t seen for a long time but still seemed to miss terribly. With everything going on in her life, he wasn’t really sure as the days got closer if bringing her home to meet his family was the right move.
However, it seemed like she eased into life at the Tumberton House with relative ease, even letting his super annoying little sister attach herself. Dinner past without argument, which was something he was grateful for. Lizzy or Seamus always did something to upset someone but it seemed they were all on their best behavior.
Dennis would spend the rest of the evening finishing up dishes, showing Avery around the rest of the house and trying to keep her out of trouble with Lizzy. When the morning came, Dennis had plans with Meyra so he would bid Avery an early farewell on her travels. “I hope your vacation goes well, Avery! I hope to see you again soon! Take care!” He would say as they left the house and parted their separate ways.
