General The Hufflepuff Table 2017 - 2018 Closed

Thomas sat down in one of the empty seats and glanced around the table, saw a Hufflepuff arguing with a Slytherin and decided to keep his head down and stay out of it. Instead he decided he would begin to collect the food on the table. he piled some onto his plate and began to dig in, the train journey and boat ride to the castle had made him rather peckish. 

Katina quickly sat in a spot around no one else. She started eating ignoring the arguing because she didn’t need to be in any drama. As she was eating she thought about how much she missed daisy and mom. She would have to write to her dad and mom later. She ate quickly and hoped none of the other kids  would try to talk to her. Unless they were nice. She also made a mental note to avoid Marcus or any of the other syltherin.

Ani slowly sat looking around at the others,glad she hadn't been in that mess before. She gave a nasty look to the Slythterin table then glancing away. Tapping her fingers against the wooden table. 

Serena headed over to the Hufflepuff table after being sorted into the house.  She was still in a bubbly mood, buzzing to meet some people and hopefully make a friend or two.  As she approached the table, she heard a little yelling.  A guy from the Slytherin table was talking to someone from the Hufflepuff table...  Something about a prank.  Serena honestly had no idea what was going on - she had missed the prank, she was probably being sorted around about them.  

In fact, she seemed to have missed most of the drama but it certainly looked like... well something had happened.  Not one to jump into judging people, she decided to stay out of it until she knew a bit more.  Instead, she scanned the table for the closest empty seat.  Approaching the table, she sat down on a seat that looked unoccupied and sort of just hoped someone would talk to her.  Awkwardly, she wondered how to start a conversation with someone.  Man, she really needed to work on her people skills.  Why did it make her so nervous and uneasy to just say hello?  Scolding herself in her mind about her own behaviour, she looked around at the people near her and decided to just go for it.  Should she introduce herself first or start with an icebreaker?  How did this work...?  Taking some food onto her plate, she decided to start eating whilst she decided. Then it hit her!  The potato she just ate could do with some salt and the salt shaker was slightly out of her reach.  Looking at her neighbours, she smiled and decided to start with an icebreaker, "Hi, could someone please pass the salt?"

Whilst she tried to make conversation with her neighbours, she curiously looked down the table to try and figure out what was going on.


OOC: Worded it so she could be sitting near anyone - so if any of you fancy chatting to her, please just pretend she's sat down near you!

Katina handed Serena the salt. 

Hi! I’m Katina. What’s your name? She asked in a quiet voice. 

Katina looked like she was ready to run the second anything bad happened.

Katina you need to stop making a fool of yourself everytime you talk to another girl. She thought to herself.

She sat silently as her eyes gazed around her at all the tables as she sat silently. She recognizes Katrina and waved at her in a friendly manner. She then afterwards glanced away, and tried to start conversation with some of the other Hufflepuff students making awkward eyes contact with each.

"Thank you!  Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Serena. Are you also a first year?", she replied she took the salt from Katina and added some into her potatoes.  The girl looked like she was about the same age so Serena imagined she was probably a first or second year.  Picking up her fork, she tried one of the potatoes and found that they tasted much better now.  Serena nodded and smiled to herself as she approved of the new taste.  Once she had sorted out the food, she looked back up to the girl who had passed her the salt in the first place.  The girl looked a little scared, which sort of comforted Serena a bit.  She usually looked very confident but always felt nervous deep down.  So it gave her a little comfort that it looked like Katina was also a bit nervous - so at least it wasn't just her! 

Deciding to make some conversation, she thought she'd ask about the one thing that was making her curious right now. "Do you know what's going on?" She asked Katina as she indicated towards the raised voices coming from the Slytherin boy talking to some people from the Hufflepuff table.

Nice to meet you to. I’m Katina. I’m a first year. 

Katina looked very nervous to talk to her. She kept looking at the ground.

I think Marcus pulled a hair loss spell on the table before I got here. Sorry if I act a little nervous to talk to you. At my last school people would bully and tease me cause I talk to much sometimes or not enough other times.

This girl seems nice. Maybe I found another friend! Katina thought to herself.

Another first year? Phew, that's a relief! Serena thought to herself, glad to meet someone in her class.  It helped calm her nerves if she knew more people in her year or class.  She raised an eyebrow in curiosity as she listened to Katina.  "Who's Marcus?" she asked curiously as she heard about the prank that he apparently pulled.  A hair loss spell...  Did she even know a hair loss spell?  No, probably not.  If nothing else, at least she had respect for the prankster (who may or may not have been Marcus at this point - Serena was reserving her judgement right now) and the fact he or she seemed pretty smart.  It was certainly a different way to go about it.  

"Oh, I'm so sorry!  That's awful." Serena felt a little heartbroken hearing about Katina's bullying.  She could relate to her - she often spoke too much or not enough.  Being bullied for it was awful.  She didn't expect the sudden openness, in all honesty so she wasn't sure what to reply with but she certainly felt sad.  "Well, I sorta talk too much - or perhaps not enough - myself at times... If that helps?" Serena said a bit awkwardly, not sure if that's an okay response to someone being so open and honest about something so personal to them.

Katina responded, 

Marcus is one of the syltherin. He started a lot of drama. 

Katina seemed very worried suddenly. 

I’m going to be late to charms!!! Bye nice to meet you! 

Katina then ran to charms. Before coming back a minute later.

I forgot my bag!!! Bye! 

Then Katina went to charms.
