Avery loved Hogwarts so far. It was beautiful. Especially outside with people strolling around the campus and owls flying high above the trees. Delivering messages back and forth to people. The sky was cloudy and dull today, but that didn't stop Avery have believing today was a good day.

Avery was taking a long walk outside enjoying the snow when she saw it. Red Sparks lighting up the otherwise cloudy and dull sky. Avery cocked her head in confusion. She couldn't understand why these sparks were lit. Something must be wrong.

She ran towards where she saw the sparks come from. Then she heard it. Shouts and cries for help rang through the campus. They were coming from the owlery. That's when Avery began to run. She ran until she finally made it to the owlery where she stopped in fear and shock.

Lying on the ground was an older girl with red hair. Avery thought she had seen her before, but wasn't sure since she obviously wasn't a first year.

Whoever the girl was, she didn't look good. Her chest was barely rising and falling. She was alive. But barely. Avery didn't know what to do. All she could do was stand and stare. She hadn't seen injuries this bad in a while. Her bones were most likely fractured with how they were bent.

Seeing the girl like this brought tears to Avery's eyes. Whenever she looked at this girl she saw her best friend. Broken and bruised in her hospital bed right before she died. Avery still couldn't get over that fact. Dead. She could barely even think about the memory since it was too painful.

"What happened? Is she going to be okay?" Avery asked.

She hoped the answer would be yes. She couldn't bear to watch someone else die. Watching one person die right in front of you is already too much to see for one lifetime. The girl was way too young to die.

Avery watched as people crowded around the girl. She also came closer. Hoping that she would be able to do something. Maybe I could get a teacher or help get her to the Hospital Wing? Avery thought to herself.

Avery couldn't stop thinking about what could have happened. Did she slip and fall? Sometimes the owlery could get a little slippery. Avery learned that lesson the hard way when she almost fell down the stairs when she wasn't paying attention.

Or could something else have happened? No. That couldn't be an option. If not that, then what could have happened? Avery hoped she would find out soon. She also hoped someone would come to bring her to the hospital soon. Without medical care she may not survive.

All Avery could do at the moment was stand here and wait to see what would happen.
