"Well, in most countries in Asia, we don't eat what you western or European people call a typical breakfast. Our breakfast is more like lunch for western or European standards," Mateo says.

He wasn't offended when Sabrina had horendously said the name of the Japanese style omelette wrong. But he could see that she really wanted to try it one day.

"Honestly, if Ancient Runes is given at Mahoutokoro, I'll definitely be taking that class next year. It seems cool," Mateo says.

Mateo was pretty sure he could take that subject at Mahoutokoro, but he wasn't entirely sure. He'll figure out next year though. Hearing what Sabrina said in reply to what he said about wanting to learn Parseltongue, he nodded his head at her before saying,
"Yeah, no, I can't learn how to speak it. But I'm pretty sure I can learn how to understand it or something. I'm not sure though,"

Mateo wasn't even sure if it was a possibility for him to learn how to understand Parseltongue. He knew it was passed down from generations to generations, but he never knew if his family contained the ability many many years ago.

"Wow, you sure do like a whole lot of food! I enjoy soup, miso and other types. Chocolate is honestly the best. Ice cream too. Though I'm not really keen on sweets, but I like some," Mateo says in response to Sabrina naming all the foods she liked.

Hearing her wanting to go up higher, Mateo looked up then nodded his head. Mateo swung his leg over the branch he was sitting on and began climbing. Once he found a decent height, he sat down. He was a few feet from the top of the tree.

Hearing Sabrina's question, he thought for a bit. Once he had settled down at the height he was at he then said,
"Well, I never told my crush that I like her. She has a boyfriend already, so I decided to support her. If he ever breaks her heart, I'll try to mend it by telling her my feelings. If they still exist by then,"

That was the only thing he never told anyone about. Not even his parents or his friends at school. He only told himself. Now it was time for Mateo to ask a question so he asked,
"How do you react whenever someone tells you something they think you don't already know and they tell you to keep it a secret?"

Sabrina hummed along as the boy remarked on the differences between their cultures. Soup for breakfast... that sounded nice, just as the thought of learning ancient runes. An idea formed in her mind, an idle though regarding the language. Maybe, if they both understood the runes, they could write each other letters in them? Smiling, she scooted closer to the trunk, legs swaying over the edge as Mateo climbed up, passing her. That's a nice thought.

Mateo was still talking, now answering her previous question. She let out a low wistle, eyes slightly bulging as she shook her head, reaching for the branch above her and pulling herself up into a standing position again before she replied.

"Wow, that is a good one," she replied, climbing after him. Her brows furowed slightly as she thought about it. She didn't have much experiences with having crushes - she didn't have any, actually. "I don't know, I've never had a crush before." she said just that, shrugging as she looked up at him, hopping up on the branch he was sitting on. Instead of sitting down too, she rather kept standing, folding her arms on a branch above it, high enough to lean against, looking over it and her hands down at Mateo, smiling.

"She must be really nice if you like her. I guess.. at least you're friends, right?" she shrugged again. If she were older, she could've given him some advice, or at least a bit more fruitful reply, but as of now, she didn't have much of an opinion - and frankly, even interest - on the problem at hand, but as of now, that was about as much as she could offer. Still, she knew it was always a big deal, and was glad, almost proud, that Mateo trusted her with it.

"Hm I don't know," she thought about his question, leaning against the branch infront of her, feeling it give in a little under her weight, but not enough to break," these hypothetical questions are hard. I barely know what I'll do this afternoon, much less in a made up contextless scenario" she smiled, " but I suppose if I knew about it already, I'd tell the person. If they think it's a secret, and I know it from someone else.. then I suppose the secret isn't so secret anyway, you know? And they deserve to know. If I didn't know before, then I'd obviously keep it to myself." she decided on. She wasn't secretive herself, and very talkative - but if someone confided in her, she knew how to keep her mouth shut. Or tried to, at least.

"What about you? What would you do?"

"I'm sure you'll find someone you'll like, maybe when your older. Yes, we are friends, and I'm pretty sure it's a one-sided love, but if I can move on, that'll be best for the both of us," Mateo says.

Mateo doesn't know much on love, and he isn't even sure if what he said would be the best solution to his one-sided love. Perhaps he'll ask his parents.

Mateo noticed that Sabrina started climbing again. They were pretty high up and he realized this when he looked down. He was fine with this height and might even go higher if Sabrina were to ask.

Mateo then heard Sabrina speak again and listened to her answer his question. He felt a tad bit guilty, since his questions were pretty hard for her to answer. Perhaps she'll ask her easy questions from now on.

Mateo listened carefully to the answer she gave and thought about his answer to the very question he had asked Sabrina. Once he knew his answer, he said,
"Sorry, I'm having trouble asking questions. I'll ask easier ones, or at least i'll try to. That's a fair answer. For myself, i'll tell the person the truth that I already know and if others know as well, i'll tell them that. I'm pretty good at keeping secrets, but I prefer not to lie to people that tell me those secrets,"

Mateo hoped his answer made sense. Mateo then realized he still had to ask Sabrina a question, but honestly, he had no idea how many questions he had already asked, but he decided to ask,
"What's your favorite season? I don't think I've asked this yet,"

"Hm, I suppose," she muses, eyes wondering up to the sky again. It wasn't quite obvious if she replied to his comment on her future love life or his opinion on the relationship between himself and his crush. What was obvious, was her lack of interest in the topic, case point: her short response. Yes, she was happy Mateo trusted her with such secret, but that was about far as her interest went.

"No, your questions are fine," she reassured him with a smile, "and I liked the last one, even tho it wasn't as easy to answer- actually prefered it, to be honest." she confesses, briefly scuffing one of her feet against the branch she was standing on, "noone has ever asked me that before, made it more fun."

The goal of this game was to get to know each other - so the game seemed to be on its right path with the more complicated questions they were slowly diving into. True to his words, Mateo's next question was relatively easy, a bit boring, even.

"You haven't! And it's summer," she responses, pausing for a moment before continuing,"or maybe Autumn." she adds with a smile, looking down at the boy, rocking back and forth on her feet, letting the branch she was leaning on support her.

"Okay so - what is the meanest thing you have ever done?" she inquiries, resting her chin on her folded arms over the branch.

After hearing Sabrina's short response from what he had said about his love life, Mateo immediately knew that this topic didn't interest the younger girl.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to bore you with that topic," Mateo apologizes.

Sometimes Mateo would apologize for something even if he didn't have to. But, he was able to control that habit of his.

Mateo turned to Sabrina when he heard her speak. A smile formed on his lips before he said,
"I'm glad you liked the question. Sometimes I can ask questions that you'd never think someone else will ask you. I'm not sure why I do that though,"

Mateo knew the goal of this game, which was to get to know each other. Complicated questions would be used if he had nothing else to ask. Obviously his next question was easy and boring, but that was the only easy question he knew. Upon hearing her answer, Mateo nodded his head before saying,
"Nice. I like winter,"

When Mateo heard Sabrina's next question, Mateo had to think to see if he's even done anything mean. Well, he did break the broom that his parents had bought him, but that wasn't exactly mean. Mateo couldn't think if anything so he said,
"I don't think i've ever really done anything mean. You?"

"No, it's okay." she said more on reflex than anything else. Sure, she had no interest in discussing either of their love lives, simply out of lack of interest in that area, but it was not something he should apologize for. Speaking of..

"You apologize a lot, don't you?" she snickered, looking down at him, cocking her head to a side. it took her a moment before realising that was a question. She lowered her head to hide her face in her forearms, groaning into them before looking up again, her frindge a bit ruffled now, smile as wide as ever. "I don't even know why I am annoyed - not like I am hoardering my questions or something," she admitted with a chuckle.

"Yeah, winter is cool," she agreed, "guess I like all the seasons, then." It was obvious that he had to think about his next answer a bit more than the previous ones. Honestly, Sabrina was already getting her hopes up, momenteraly stoping her swinging motion, paying close attention. When he finally answered, Sabrina rolled her eyes with a scoff, lightly kicking Mateo's shoulder.

"Now that was a blatent lie," she informed him, getting a better grip at the branch infront of her before bending her legs, hanging on her arms. Her feet were still on the branch Mateo was sitting on, but they were more for stability than support.

"Dunno if it was the meanest thing I've done, but I once threw one of my classmate's books into a toilet." she said, knowing her answer before even asking Mateo the question. In a very not-Sabrina fashion, she didn't elaborate, an indication of the fact that she somewhat regretted the action.

"What do you think of revenge? Like.. in general" she asked, looking away, the question a bit mumbled.

"Heh, guess I do. I know you didn't mean that as your question. I guess apologizing is one of my bad habits? But I mean it's a good one too. Just depends on the scenario, y'know," Mateo says after chuckling at what Sabrina had said.

Mateo wasn't actually sure if anything he was saying made any sense. But, he was sure Sabrina would understand what he was saying. Hearing what Sabrina said, he wasn't sure how to respond, so he didn't say anything. Upon hearing Sabrina reply back to what he said about winter being his favorite season, he chuckled again before saying,
"All the seasons are nice. It is hard to pick just one,"

After Mateo said his answer to her question, he saw her rolling her eyes and when she kicked his shoulder, he playfully clutched it and pretended he was in pain before saying,
"Ow, that hurt! Alright, guess I am lying. The only thing I can think of is when I was really young, I was flying around, and I went too high and lost my balance. I fell off of my broom and landed safely on the ground, but my broom had crashed into a tree. That was the very first broom i've ever gotten and it was from my parents as well,"

Mateo now told Sabrina the truth, and who knows what she'll say about it. Upon hearing Sabrina's answer he said,
"Wow, that's pretty mean. But I mean there's much more worse things than that,"

Mateo heard Sabrina's next question, and though it was a mumble, he still heard it. Once he found his answer he said,
"Well, for me, it depends on what the person did that you'll have to have revenge on them. Personally, I wouldn't want to have revenge on someone, but if they did something really bad, then I'd have revenge on them,"

Mateo then began thinking about the next question. He hadn't exactly asked another question yet, so when he finally thought of one he asked,
"What d'you think about pranks? Like, if somone were to prank you, what would you do?"

With a small smirk at his feign-hurt she rotated her hips to face him better, curious for his actual answer. Receiving it, she had to fight not to facepalm - and as a consequence, fall flat on her face. "That isn't mean, Mateo. That's just clumsy" she chuckled with a shake of her head, incredulous. "Okay fine, I'll let you have that one," she decided with a sigh. This boy.. who, in all honesty, couldn't think of one mean thing they've done? Of course, he could've been lying, but he didn't seem like the type to do that.

"Yeah well," another shrug "I don't know," she replied, her voice a little flatter, eyes fixed in the tips of her shoes, "Tell you what- she wasn't so innocent too." she mumbled, her sharing nature in conflict with her regret - shame? Probably a mix of both plus some left over bitterness. "But sure, there is always worse there to be done."

His answer made her laugh, the sound not quite as cheery as it was before, but bright nonetheless. "That- is quite contradictable. I am not surprised you can't think of anything mean you've done - you're too compliant. In a good way, like.. I don't think there's one thing I said you outright disagreed with or wasn't at least really understanding of," she began to explain, finally straightening again, rolling back her shoulders from the strain the hangining has put on them. "How is that working out for you? Being so- okay, with everything?" she asked, seeming genuiently curious.

She looked down on the branch she was standing and Mateo was sitting on, a slight crease to her brows. She decided to sit down, but wasn't sure how to go about it as Mateo was the one closer to the trunk, giving her nothing to support herself with when going down. "Hey," she started, an idea poping into her mind, "can I grab your shoulder?"

"I like pranks, actually," she confesed with a smile, "as long as they don't harm anyone - so if someone were to prank me, I'd most likely prank them back. Why do you ask? Planning on pranking me?"

"Yes, I know it's not mean. But that's the only thing I could think of! I'm not the type of person to be mean to anyone. Really, it's not in my nature to bully or be mean to anyone," Mateo says.

Mateo also wasn't one to lie as well. So though Sabrina's question had left him anwerless, so she shouldn't blame him. Hearing Sabrina speak, he listened before he said,
"Oh, I see. So, perhaps she was supposed to get what you had done to her. Sorta like payback?"

That wasn't the question Mateo had wanted to ask, it had just come out as a question form. Hearing Sabrina speak again, Mateo listened and took his time to respond before saying,
"Thanks, I guess. Honestly, I'm ok with whatever anyone throws at me. I usually don't really say no. I'm not sure why either. Perhaps that's a flaw that I have. I really need to change my ways,"

Throughout this game the two are playing, Mateo is realizing what flaws he has, and a lot of these he never knew he had had. Hearing Sabrina ask if she could grab his shoulder, he nodded his head before saying,
"Sure. Just don't push me off the tree. If you do, we'll probably both fall, or I'll fall myself and might break a bone,"

Mateo hasn't exactly broken a bone yet, so the thought of Sabrina accidentally pushing him off the tree, causing him to fall on the ground, and possibly breaking a bone in the process, worried him.

Hearing Sabrina answer his questions about pranks, he listened before saying,
"I see. No, I wouldn't prank you! Why would I? I actually haven't pranked someone before. Would you like to help me prank someone for the first time?"

Sabrina liked the original version of twenty questions. It was a fun way to pass time, but she had to admit, this was way more fun. Especially since she didn't really know this boy. Yes, an idea of who he might be had began to form in her mind, but it definitely wasn't near actually knowing him. It felt like filling in blanks in a half distorted text, piecing together a puzzle that shifted and changed shape after every added piece.

"Like revenge, yeah" she answered, his words bringing her back from her thoughts. Her parents said revenge doesn't solve anything, her teachers scolded her for it and as much as she trusted both, she just wasn't sure if they were right. In retrospective, she wasn't proud of what she had done. That time, she was wrong to do it - or at least in the way she had done it. But it didn't change her view on revenge as a whole at all.

"Maybe," she hummed, "I also rarely say no. But I reckon that's more because I don't get asked to do stuff I don't like." She thought out loud, crouching down, bracing her palm against Mateo's shoulder. "Thank and don't worry, I won't shove you off" she reassured him with a light laugh. Plopping down next to him, too fast to he entirely safe, she pat his shoulder before settling both of her hands at her sides for stability.

"I'd be honored to help you prank someone! Someone you had in mind? When are you leaving anyw-" the chimming of the castle's big clocks echoed through the open space, anouncing the end of one hour and start of the other " Godric- what time is it?" Sabrina exclaimed more than asked. "Divination- I am supposed to be in class right now-" she scrambled, turning to hop down on the branch bellow them in hurry. Halting, she looked up at Mateo with a sheepish smile. "I'll owl you, yeah? Maybe we could manage to hang out once more before you leave, finish our game."

With that, she swung down and in few short minutes was running back to the castle, waving back at him over her shoulder "Bye Mateo!"
