"I'm sorry but if what you were saying is true, I would definitely have remembered you being a detective before. But I only remember you as being the one who tried to steal my milk bottle. And if you're a detective, why is your reputation so shady? Unless, you're a corrupt one?" Maria asked with a raised brow. Alessio's advice as to how to be able to convince others easily didn't really help much. "I see. Well, then I should be getting the hang of it because I almost always tell the truth to everyone." She said with a little shrug of her shoulders. "Ow." Maria had forgotten she'd lost one of her arms and that little movement had reminded her of the new pain. This was going to be a pain in the ass and she didn't know how she would do it.
Why the hell had the culprit come after her?! Why not go after one of the others?
She didn't think anyone held a true grudge against her except for maybe Alessio if he was innocent. When darkness fell and morning light came again, a murder had taken place. Alessio. Who was revealed to actually having been the true detective. Well. That sucked. Maybe Alessio had been right about the killer wanting to pit them against eachother. Maria made a face. Even though she and Alessio had held grudges against eachother, it wasn't enough for either of them to want to kill eachother. Well, at least on Maria's part. She hadn't wanted Alessio to die, she'd wanted him to admit he stole her milk bottle and pay her back what he owed her. If he died, that didn't help her at all, not to mention the fact that now she wouldn't know the answer to any of the questions she'd asked her before.
Maria looked over at Sofia as she spoke to them.
"I am a very clean person and make sure my store is always in pristine condition and my stock is up to date. You will never find expired products on the shelves. I aim to cater to my customers at all times. As for secrets, I think all of us have them but the question is why should we reveal them? Even if we aren't the killer, revealing secrets would make everyone start suspecting eachother." She told everyone. What she'd said was true. Being clean was something that was very important to her. The last thing she needed was for someone to get sick because her store wasn't really doing as well as she wanted it to. Plus, if they tried to share actual secrets, the killer would specifically try and start something against someone else there.
To draw attention away from them. That much was for certain. "We'll be having a sale sometime soon, if you all want to come in." Maria added, not forgetting to mention this. Carlos chimed in and revealed he'd been doing some writings for the local paper. "If you've been doing writings, you must have some investigation skills. Who do you think the killer might be? Or for that matter, do you have any suspicions?" Maria asked, curious. She didn't know who to vote for this time as Alessio was out of the picture and so was open to any suggestions. If no one spoke up, she'd just have to make a random guess. With no other material to work with, what else could she do? There were quite a few people who hadn't spoken up this time which was suspicious.

Noah announced that the group hadn't quite reached a consensus about who they were going to place the blame on. And they had eliminated their detective. There was only one? Were they going to be able to track down the killer without him? Darn, Della should have listened to him more. And why had the killer taken a night off?
The conversation, however, was getting heated. And it was still mostly "Alessio" and "Maria" crying over stolen milk. Or maybe it was just the spicy drink Della had drank. Or maybe it was cute that she and Pax looked together in their matching outfits. Whatever was happening—this game was at least fun and intriguing. "Carlos" and "Sofia" began sharing their secrets.
"Sofia, your secret is a bit odd. Isn't that a normal thing any person in your line of business should do? And Carlos, yes, I agree with Maria, based on your journalism skills, you might as well become the new detective—any insights?"
"Not that my secret is really that juicy either. I've been volunteering at the orphanage—doing skilled labor for free. I just don't want my regular clients to know I'm willing to work for less, or else they may take advantage of the orphanage."
Della knew she was leaving out just what "Giovanni" did for his skilled labor—which might cast suspicion on him (especially from "Carlos") but she was feeling emboldened by the events so far.

Whispers of the Dark
10/19/24
After Vito spoke, he expected to hear a little more from Alessio on the investigation in which Maria lied. It was a stretch, but there was a chance that the investigation and the night’s murders could be connected. Instead, Maria then went on to defend herself. She accused Alessio of many things and Vito wished he had some popcorn for the improvisational skills. He surely didn’t get that much information in his role card, and if Maria and Alessio were the same then they were doing a damn good job at being the main characters of the night.
Though, Vito wasn’t sure about Maria’s defense. If she truly hated Alessio, then loss of an arm would only be a small price to pay. And thinking about it out of the game, Kaito and everyone else knew that there were no actual wounds, so the guy playing Maria could’ve just aimed the ‘bullet’ at himself if he wanted to blame Alessio and there would really be no repercussions. But if that was the case, then would the guy be playing so accurately to his character’s grudge, assuming Maria’s grudge was towards Alessio? Oof, Kaito wanted nothing more than the soft embrace of his blankets about now.
Suddenly, Maria turned to Vito and rolled her eyes, amp-ing up her tone because Vito ‘wasn’t listening’…? Kaito’s brows scrunched together, a bit confused by the order of operations and why Maria spoke like that towards him. He’d spoken before she defended herself from lying to the police. In the end he shrugged it off, assuming that Maria probably had a fixed dialogue like in a video game or something. And he was willing to move past it because Maria’s last words to him struck a chord. Vito wouldn’t respond, stuffing his free hand into his pants pocket and turning away. No one needed to know about his lies to the police. He didn’t think he was doing anything bad. As a matter of fact, Vito was providing an exciting public service that just so happened to be illegal. But he wouldn’t share that and risk being accused of lying too.
Alessio hammed it up once again, pulling out his detective badge and being even more convincing that Maria was a liar. Vito didn’t know what to believe. He didn’t trust law enforcement obviously, and a detective could absolutely be the killer. But within the scope of the game, it was unlikely that Alessio was guilty. Unfortunately for the group, the detective revelation came too late and Alessio ended up dead when the lights came on. Vito was about to groan out loud when his reading classmate spoke up, no longer engrossed in her book. She provided a good idea, but Vito had to agree with Carlo about people lying. At least they could watch for facial tells, though.
“Very respectable of you,” Vito nodded to Giovanni before addressing the group. “Maybe some of you know me if you frequent this neighborhood, but I run a bar a few streets over. Luca over there is familiar, I’m sure,” he jabbed a thumb over at the silent younger girl. “I like to think I know a lot about the secrets in town, but I guess I’m not as good as I thought. Didn’t know we had a murderer among us. Anyways, that’s about it for me. My bar’s just a decent place for social drinking or more, and for testing your luck a little.” Well, nobody said he couldn’t advertise.

Whispers of the Dark
Darkest hour, wake thy power, earthly and divine
Noah knocked on the walls, loudly banging on the solid feature as hard as he could. Whatever he would've had in his hands, Noah would've put down on the ground as he announced yet another blackout. He had plans for this fun little situation, something he didn't do in the last few rounds. The lights went off, a gun reflecting in the light, the same old same old, but with one difference. Noah pulled out his wand, pointing towards the ceiling of the dark room, and he spoke the incantation just as he made the wand movement.
An unseen raincloud grew across the ceiling of the room, embracing the darkness. A little rumbling of thunder could be heard. It would've masked the sound or ricocheting of the nerf bullets if they were shot. Noah hid the wand back in his pocket and banged on the walls once again. "LIGHTS ON!" He would proclaim. As the lights flew on, the room remained shadowy, but enough light was present for visibility. Raindrops would fall, smelling like peppermint, and every thud of the raindrop on some surface enhanced and made the smell stronger.
He didn't hear or see a gunshot, no bullets. There were nothing. Noah nodded, knowing the doctor wasn't needed. Well, if neither would happen, at least he could skip to the votes. "Elizabeth," He started, waving her over. "Unfortunately, you have been deemed suspicious and perhaps its your poison laced cupcakes, but you are now eliminated." As he said the word eliminated, he stabbed her in the back with a fake retractable prop knife.
Noah shot them a grin, now slightly pleased with himself with the fact that its raining on them.

Notice
Every mod post, you will notice that the light goes out every time there is a murder. The light stays out for 1 minute to allow the murderer to conceal the weapon in some way and to avoid suspicion. When the light goes out, you'll hear a bang from the nerf gun and if you feel yourself getting shot with a foam bullet, you have been killed. You may lay down on the ground and play dead. You may find a funny pose to be in, whatever. When the light goes back on, a vote will be held to accuse someone of the murder.
I've been accused of a murder! What do I do?
Well dearie, you would've been considered "executed" if the majority votes you as murderer. This means that you are out. The game is over when all of the players are dead except for the detective and murderer, or when the murderer has been accused and executed.
How do I vote?
Every round, you need to send me an owl of who you're voting or accusing. Additionally you MUST post otherwise your vote will be seen as invalid.
I did not post for a round or more, what happens? (if you don't send me your vote but post, it's okay, don't worry about it.)
The murderer will likely kill you the next round.
I'm the murderer! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your target via owl. In Character, when the lights go out, you can pull out your nerf gun and shoot your target. You will have the rest of the minute to hide the gun or conceal it.
I'm the detective! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. You cannot be killed.
I'm a doctor! What happens now?
Post each round. Send me your accused victim via owl. There will be a second blackout in the mod post in where you will have a CHANCE of healing the shot victim.
I was a shot victim! I was healed!
Good for you, you may continue in the game. However, one of your limbs have been ic AMPUTATED so in roleplay, you would not have that limb because the doctor amputated the shot limb.
What if I have to leave Out of Character and I'm the Murderer or a Doctor or a Detective?
That's fine, just please notify us at some point. We will owl another person and give them an additional "title" for their character that they are already playing. For example: Baker is now Murderer but still the same character, you don't gain another. When it comes to a detective and a doctor, unfortunately, we won't pass it on. The game continues until its over.
Please note: We are taking actions via owl so that actions and votes are anonymous to keep the mystery. What you choose to say or do in your post whether ooc or ic can be used against you so do your best to keep your "secret" role anonymous. If you are a detective or a murderer it can be used against you if you say it out loud. We suggest coming up with an undercover job to conceal the fact. Not required, you could be vague, but what you say and do whether oc or ic can be used against you.Mod Post Content: Mods

They/SheSuddenly, all eyes were on Pax. Though not negatively, that was a relief. However, it seemed as though their innocent little secret wasn't quite as innocent as they had originally thought. Now, on a night away from the stress and duty of leading a team, they had once again been thrown back into such a role. They would much rather be two frogs in a trench coat please ignore this reference, courtesy of @Mylo Atkins. Well, at least they knew that leadership was something, at least supposedly, they could do.
Though Della was also- no. This was going to be a fun night away from stress, at least for her, and Pax would keep it that way.
As Pax pondered on this, they kept an ear out as others shared their secrets, still unable to shake the feeling that someone was lying to them. At the very least, they were almost 100% sure that nobody here could be telling the full truth about what their supposed secret was. However, before they could make any more accusations or guesses, nightfall would arrive.
As the night quickly passed, a storm had begun to brew. Once the lights flicked on, Pax shot a glare over at Noah, thankful that their hat would at least shelter the hair that had taken them so long to style. However, this glare might've been overshadowed by the fact that yet another person had been killed - and not by any murderer this time.
"Sorry," they mumbled, shooting a small glance over to Elizabeth, before turning to the rest of the group.
"At this point, I think we're doing the murderer's job for them. We're running low on options. Maybe we should consider why the murderer's taken a break the last few nights? At this point, considering how badly we're doing, surely it'd be easier to just keep murdering and get us all taken out."Action: Trying to find a solutionReducioStats:

When the lights came back, yet again, no one was murdered. How suspicious of the murdering to stop murdering. Maybe it was a clever plot to let the group devour themselves while they sat idly by. In the center of the action, Pax had the full attention of the group. They, as "Carlos," were putting their investigative skills to work. They suggested what Della had been thinking—the lack of murders might just be the clue.
Della scanned the room. Who was being the quietest? Who was keeping to the outer ring? Her eyes landed on a solitary first year, who had introduced herself as "Luca"—she hadn't done much talking since then.
"As much as I hate to admit it, Carlos has a point. And one person has been eerily quiet this whole time—Luca! What say you?"
Della didn't mean to come off so dramatic. She didn't want to scare the first-year away, but it was a game after all. Though, she would be surprised if "Luca" responded to her questions. She did seem completely distracted with a spicy margarita. Della had already finished hers, so she promptly grabbed another and passed one to "Carlos" as well—trying to make it look as though they were a team, not just Della piggybacking off Pax's idea.

Whispers of the Dark
Blood and Tears and Bones
The pitter pattering of the rain was so calming to him. He felt like it was the most unique experience he could have gone through. He took a deep breath, ignoring what was being said for a second and exhaled. He repeated the process a few times, allowing the peppermint smell to fill his nostrils. It was really.. minty and he was not complaining. It was kind of cool.
The Gryffindor elder had nothing much to say so he might as well begin, right? There were only five people standing in the group so far: Claudia, Della, Pax, Tone and Kaito . This shouldn’t take too terribly long.. Right?
He slammed his hands onto the cold, hard walls with as much force as he possibly could, loud slapping noises, the skin peeling off of the wall as he retracted them. “It’s time to begin.”
The lights went out.
This time, the lights stayed out for approximately 3 minutes. When he felt it was time to turn back on the light, Noah gulped.
It felt different this time, even if it might have been the same thing as usual, something he should’ve been used to. Nay, it was nothing. Nothing big, nothing he should overthink.
He looked around for a bullet, and he did not see one. Someone was not shooting the gun. Who? Noah didn’t know. That’s not true. He knew who it was, he just didn’t know why they weren’t shooting.
He sucked the air through his teeth. Well. Time to announce who the eliminated is? Nah, no one is out. They’re still in. “Guys, no one has voted anyone out. There has been no majority.”

Whispers of the Dark
They/SheAs Della/Giovanni spoke, Pax had to admire their logic. Luca had been quiet for a suspiciously long time, and the fact they still weren't speaking up was only heightening their suspicions further. They felt Della/Giovanni push a glass into their hand, which they quickly grasped, trying to make it look as planned and natural as they could, trying to take a sip of the drink as in sync as they could. They weren't fully sure what Della/Giovanni was trying to achieve in that moment, but they were happy to go with it.
As Hiro/Maria began to list their ideas, Pax began to run through some of their own in their head, trying to recall everything that happened so far. Overall, the majority of the evidence pointed away from Hiro/Maria, and Pax was having a hard time not trusting Della. Maybe they were a bit biased, yes, but they had been very helpful in conducting this investigation.
With that in mind, that left very few choices for who it could actually be. At this point, they might as well make a list of everyone, close their eyes, and pick randomly. But that couldn't be the best solution.
"Yeah, Luca, do you have a defence? Or at least something to say that might make you less suspicious right now?"Action: Still trying to find a solutionReducioStats:

Now things were getting serious. Silence swept through the room—many of the loud voices were now calmed. Della realized her accusation was the thing that did it. They hadn't come to a majority, but maybe they were close? She took a final sip of her spicy margarita. She was happy to see that Pax was following her lead, also sipping theirs. She grabbed another. Was this her third? Her cheeks were probably beet-red from the heat, but she found the extra seasoning stimulated her thoughts.
"Maria" also joined their line of questioning. Maybe Della had stumbled upon the murderer—she thought her logic was sound, but then again, that might be the spice talking. Replying to "Maria," she said, "Yeah, I do think it's Luca. I don't see him answering my question. Maybe the spice took away his ability to speak, or he knows he's been caught!"
Yeah, this was fun. Accusing people, being mysterious, and drinking a nonalcoholic drink and imagining she was an adult drinking the real thing. Della looked toward Pax, a sneaky smile brimming on her lips. The broom racing captain thought that today's race was going to be the high point of the day, but having a date—undetermined if friendly or more—and actually enjoying a ball without her life being threatened was giving even broom racing a run for its money.
