2024/25, Stage 1 Gryffindor V Hufflepuff: Match 6

Round 3

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

"Time for the Third round," Prat shouted, his twelve year voice echoing through the arena. It was visible how pumped and eager the lad was, to see the exhilarating plays continue from both sides. The energy on the field was nothing compared to the second round he had moderated. This time each duellist looked like they were out for blood. Their case of battle nerves had perhaps gone past them and was no longer a concern for each team.

Violet, one of the Hufflepuffs, took off her blindfolds, it was perchance a small victory for her but could prove to be a crucial one for her team. Nico Romano, the huff duellist tried casting Wingardium Leviosa on Theo, but to his misfortune, Theo Dodged. Emily, however, perhaps brought lady luck to the duel. She aimed her spell at Sere nade (her gryff opponent) and cast Flipendo, knocking Serenade backwards flying. The hit was solid and might even act as momentary boost for the Hufflepuff team.

However, The Gryffindors still had tricks of their own under their sleeves as all three of them. Sere, Sio, and Theo decided cast Flipendo on Violet, sending the poor girl sprawling again. Poor Violet was having a rough round, and Prat couldn’t help himself but feel a tad bit sorry for her. Quickly checking on her to make sure she was okay. She was dazed but still in the game.

Despite the chaotic and uneven round, he could feel the tension building. This match was turning into something memorable.The spells, the unexpected turns, the intensity—everything was aligning. As the third round finished he as well as the audience couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation.

There was clearly something in the water of Gryffindor tower, as Theo was impressing even himself (A difficult feat.) He dived suddenly to avoid a jet of light from the opposing team. Then countered with a knockback Jinx towards his rival Violet which landed its target. "The cup is ours!" He shouted. "It belongs to Gryffindor!" He continued.

"Ah, so it's you..." Sere raised her eyebrows as she glanced at the girl across her, knowing that it was the girl who attacked her all the time after a Knockback Jinx was perfectly casted on her. Let's see... The girl silently marked her lovely opponent.

Sere grabbed her wand tightly, scanning the condition of the three students in front of her and saw a good opportunity to cast the spell on the other girl who was still blindfolded. "Flipendo!" It seemed like her teammates were also thinking the same way as the succeeded triple Flipendos flying to that girl. The British-Korean girl formed a crooked smile as she heard Theo's sudden excitement. I've never seen him in such a mood before.

Violet ignored her rival shouting feeling her energy drain. She struggled to get back up having been hit with three knockback jinxes in a row, but at least her blindfold was removed. Defeated or not, she was not going to take anybody's mockery especially not from someone like Theo. Her skills might not be polished enough to stand upto her mother's standards, but she was ready to take in everything that came her way to be who she wants to be.

Emily was a believer for sure, but for something like this she was definitely going to be more attuned to logic. Though no amount of logic could explain the uncountable luck she had been experiencing so far in this duel. Maybe Beginner's Luck was a thing after all.

But poor Violet was running out of steam and Emily flashed a small look of concern her way. At the same time it must have finally clicked with Sere who she was up against, for better or for worse. Emily swallowed hard, akin to a frog croaking when their eyes met briefly.

A sign that this was the part where Gryffindor and Hufflepuff truly declared war.

This wasn't going well. Not at all, merlin this was a nightmare in fact. Violet was running on pure fumes and whatever adrenaline was left now, anyone could tell. It was common knowledge you wouldn't exactly be doing well after three knockback jinxes landed on you successfully in repetition. Whatever these Gryffindor's had against Violet, Nico decided it was best to blame Theo for now. He didn't know any of them, but he wasn't deaf to the taunts.

"Are you alright?" He called out to Violet, hoping she still had enough gas in her to cast another spell. Grip on his wand faltering slightly, he needed to be more alert. Casting a glance to Emily he nodded more to himself then her. At least both of them were yet to be hit, they could work with that. There team hadn't been backed into a corner just yet, they still had a chance. Holding his wand firmly now, he turned to face his opponents once more. Readying himself for their next onslaught and begging inwardly for some much needed luck.

Round 4

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

"TIME FOR THE FOURTH ROUND!" Prat's voice echoed through the arena, not quite as charged with excitement as the previous round but nonetheless the spirit was still there. The crowd buzzed with anticipation as they eagerly waited to see the next parts in the event.

Prat saw as the duellists wasted no time in casting their spells on their respected opponents, well most of them at least. Nico attempted to hit Sio with an Incendio, but with his aim was off his spell missed her by a lot. Theo retaliated with a Flipendo aimed at Violet but she managed to dodge it by a huge margin. "These duellists are either very nimble or their opponents have buttons for eyes" Prat remarked silently as he observed.

On the Gryffindor side, Siobhan remained in her spot,almost as if she was out of it in the duel one again. Prat was not impressed but rather worried if she was alright. For Puffs however Emily and Violet had the same plan, both women determined to turn the tide for Hufflepuff as they chose Sere Nade as their target, While Emily missed her Mark, Violet she cast a powerful flipendo at Sere Nade, what seemed like another miss, went ahead and hit her, sending her crashing back.

Sere's eyes narrowed, staring intently at her-lovely-opponent's next move and dodged after the girl casted a spell. The hazel-eyed girl's attempt to cast Knockback Jinx indeed failed, but her attempt to get Sere's attention clearly succeeded. Sere didn't even realize the other girl had opened her blindfold and managed to push herself back with another Knockback Jinx. Sere hissed in disbelief.

Observing her other two teammates; Theo with her missed Flipendo and Siobhan who seemed statued once more. Ugh, this is not good. Sere clenched her teeth.

"Ehh?? I missed?!"

Another shot at the Flipendo trick backfired as Emily watched Sere masterfully dodge her strike. It appears in duelling, even Lady Luck can't guarantee lightening in a bottle twice. But she did guarantee another chance for Violet to bounce back as her Flipendo struck brilliantly in Emily's stead.

She had to give it to Sere; she was taking it all well... Or at least, as well one can manage when getting struck with multiple Knockback Jinxes back-to-back.

Nico appeared to be standing strong against Theo, whom Emily had no shame in admitting that she was a little intimidated by. Then again, she felt that with a lot of the duellists on stage with her. Must come with "First Match Adrenaline," she thought.

She quickly reassumed her stance as she sought desperately for a new plan. And it had to be a good one if she were to knock at least one of the Gryffindor pillars down a few more pegs.
