*Bookshelves*
Enter Room
Read Task List.
Choose task.
Eyes up, not at your feet.
Breathe.
Help out.
Yolanda hoped no one noticed her robotic movements. Div-Diviniation… she’d never even heard of that before. But it wasn’t the magic she found overwhelming…
Enter the room.
She scanned the room; trying to stand close enough to see the Task List but not so close as to block anybody. She couldn’t help but wonder where to stand or what to do.
“Pay attention.” Her mother’s voice rang out in her mind. Yolanda tried to focus.
Read Task List.
Crystal balls?? She dare not touch those.
Rubbish? Uh she always got that job at home, being the youngest – no thanks.
Fold Curtains? She was not finesse enough for that.
Organize Book shelves?
Task chosen!
Carto- Card–o–man-see
What was Cartomancy? Whatever it was related to she was going to organize it!
Grabbing a pen she scribbled her name in messy writing beside ‘@Iris Athanasiuo’ and the bookshelves. She noted the girls name as she recognized her from the Ravenclaw common room.
Iris Athanasiuo – and most everyone – was in relaxed attire. She looked down at her own Robes. She had stayed in Uniform and would continue to stay in Uniform. She quite liked the Wizards style and it made her feel like part of Hogwarts. As a muggle she still felt a bit like an outsider.
The girl was finishing up the books bookshelf as Yolanda wandered over. Iris seemed very careful and methodical as she finished placing her books.
“Hi – Iris,” eyes up. Not at my feet.
Yolanda smiled trying to put on a confidence she didn’t have. “Nice job on the bookshelf; looks great!”
She hoped not to startle Iris too much.
“This is great for our House points. I just wanted to help but that’s an added bonus. I heard Slytherin got a hat trick last year. I want Ravenclaw to win three in a row! That would be so cool.”
Yolanda stopped herself from rambling – she often did that.
Breathe.
She didn’t know much about Iris other than that she was an older Ravenclaw. She didn’t even know much about Slytherin – although she highly admired their drive. She hoped Iris was friendly but decided to not bug her too much.
“Well nice to meet; gotta get on task!” Yolanda hopped away over to the interesting bookshelf.
She slowly made each spot a shelf on the shelves – organized – reorganized – and then gave a few final organizational touches. She had tried to focus and gotten into a groove until the task was done.
She was glad she had come to help.

Rose was enjoying getting into the groove for this year. Classes seemed to be going well, she was learning more than ever, and she was looking forward to the next dueling stage, which was coming up soon. Rose had been going through a pretty rough year, but finally, things seemed to be looking up.
When she heard about a little cleaning day in the Divination classroom, Rose couldn't help but go. Sure, she had some homework this weekend, but a nice cleaning day sounded kinda fun. She even heard that her friend Mylo was coming, too.
The redhead climbed the ladder into the Divination classroom, and cast a glance around. There were already quite a few people in there, and, admittedly, the classroom did need cleaning. She wondered if it was just because of the new school year and all the chaos that came with it, or if something had happened more recently that caused such a mess, but the cleaning day did not seem uncalled for. It was good that lots of people had showed up, though, because as Rose's mother liked to say, many hands make light work.
The chalkboard outlined a few things that could be done, and Rose noticed another blank next to a few students' names, including Mylo. She picked up the chalk, wrote her name next to the task- cleaning crystal balls, windows, and mirror- and approached the students there already. As she arrived, she overheard Mylo asking a kid around their age about what he had done already, and then being bumped into by a bubbly-looking girl, who asked them how he was.
"Hey," she said, greeting the four already there. She was going to ask Mylo how they were, but the girl already had, so she decided to just join in on their conversation rather than try and just talk to Mylo. Rose cast her gaze at their cleaning objectives- crystal balls, mirrors, and windows. The boy she didn't know seemed to be currently working on crystal balls with his wand, and the mirrors seemed pretty clean, too. "I'm probably going to start on the windows, if that's okay?"
She pulled out her own wand, and directed her attention to the nearest window. A couple of them seemed to have been wiped down already, but not all of them. "Scourgify," she said under her breath while moving her wand in an S shape. She carefully guided the spell up the window, watching as the dirt and grime was magically cleaned. The window seemed to almost sparkle, in comparison to the one next to it.

437/200|helping @Emily Shepard , and @Ophelia Northwell find the missing tarrot cards
𝓙n the morning, on October fifth, Brookline sat on her bed, a ripped book propped on her small nose. Reading about healing, her short brown, white, black, checked dress spread out neatly on the bed, and her long black sleeves, peeking out of the dress’ shoulder straps, matched evenly with the fall aesthetic. Then hopping out of bed, Brookline tossed her book on the bed before tying a knot in her hair with a hair tie.
The Ravenclaw had heard about the “fall” cleaning the Divination professor. Clairmout, @Sereia Clairmount if that was her last name, had some issues last year where sly students thought it would be funny stealing or damaging the Kind professor owned in her pretty classroom. And Brookline wanted to help. Cleaning was fun. Not much funner than homework or reading, but much better than some awkward or weird thing some weird kids did. But. Whatever. Did Brookline care? No. She just wanted to clean. It struck her as something she really wanted and kinda had to do. Anyway... she was getting stiff. Again.
Luckily, the Divination classroom wasn’t too far from the Ravenclaw tower. In fact, the quite real Divination classroom was in a tower too! Just north! So crossing into the North Tower, where two classrooms, and an office stood. Brookline entered the Divination classroom, with nothing to lose. It was a pretty good classroom. Better than most classrooms, that’s for darn sure. She walked over to the task list, and peered at spit with dark blue eyes, figuring out what she wanted to do. Finally picking “find the missing cards from my tarot decks”. Soon, Brookline scribbled her name in her sometimes messy handwriting.
So Brookline walked over where two girls stood. Both of them had deep brown hair, and the Welsh pure-blood knew who they both where. Ophelia and Emily! The birthday twins! Their joint party was about month ago, and Brookline had attended. Emily was a good friend to Brookline, the Ravenclaw met the Hufflepuff when she’d gone outside to find the Hufflepuff gawking over different plants with mushrooms. And Ophelia was Brookline’s roommate, and their kittens couldn’t be happier! They love playing with each other, one time this year they escaped to play with the other.
“Hi Emily and Ophelia! Nice to see some friendly faces here!” Brookline’d chirp, her smile small, but bright, then while humming a tune her mother used to sing, she started looking for tarot cards, wherever and whenever she could find them. As her dark blue eyes did the work, her brain would space out and think about the healing book she’d just read.

Zach heard a voice from behind. @Mylo Atkins. His fellow prefect of Ravenclaw. The way he introduced himself, Zach couldn't help but blurt out a giggle. “Yes, Mylo. Feel free to call me Zach. And nope. My eyes are fixed to these beautiful crystal balls.” But a girl @Elizabeth Stonewall, that Zach knew was also from the Ravenclaw, took her part to clean the crystal balls. An “oh” came out from his mouth.
Then another girl @Alliasta Holista, he didn't know who she was, bumped Mylo. Zach winced when it happened. He was too late to grab Milo aside. “Ouch,” he whispered faintly. The girl said sorry and asked if Milo remembered her. Pretty interesting. Should Zach leave his work to see what had happened or would happen between them?
And another girl @Rose Moon, who seemed like the eldest there, approached the four smaller kids that worked on cleaning the glass things. Zach remembered her even though he had never talked to her. She was a duellist and a member of Hogwarts Headliner, both of the extracurriculars that Zach left due to his burn-out. “Hello,” Zach nodded at her greetings. She asked if it was okay for her to clean the windows. “I see no problem,” Zach answered. A smile followed after the words.
Zach looked at the Ravenclaw girl that was now cleaning the windows. Oh, right. The crystal balls. He looked if there's any crystal balls left. “Scourgify.” He cast the Scouring Charm again after he found the others, almost at the same time as the eldest student.
Zach looked at Mylo and the girl who bumped him. “Let's clean clean before we have nothing to do left.” A wide grin bloomed on his face.

So far taking of care a large castle full of rowdy teenagers had been quite the responsibility. Magic (and house-elves) goes a long way, but Ruckus still had his work cut out for him as the caretaker. Not to mention the amount of discipline the average Hogwarts student required. When Profressor Clairmont asked him to help her with her classroom, and the job entailed watching students clean, Ruckus jumped at the opportunity. This would be the complete opposite of his experience so far: students behaving themselves and leaving the castle cleaner than they found it. It was a vacation of sorts.
Upon entering the divination classroom, a short jaunt from his own office, he was met by Professor Clairmont and Professor Lennox (another volunteer he presumed). He nodded to both, not sure how to begin the customary small talk. The hardest part of this job, an unexpected part, was just how much younger the staff all were. Ruckus was homeschooled, so he wasn't sure what the norms were, but seeing such young people become full-blown professors and whatnot did warm his heart. But also he did walk into every room feeling like the dad, or better yet, the estranged uncle. (Not to mention, he was probably old enough to be a grandfather to some of the student body.)
Professor Clairmont offered tea or coffee, giving Ruckus a much needed directive. "Aye, I'll take a cuppa tea. Thanks."
And Ruckus would stand there quietly, surveying the students and their work, happily drinking his tea—unless given another directive by student or professor to engage in conversation.

One of them they kind of recognised, but he couldn't place where from, but she was busy with the mirror at the moment so that wasn't a top priority.
What was a top priority was Zach's response, which came quite quickly once they had asked their question. Although Mylo didn't quite understand what was so funny about what they had asked, did they say something wrong? But before they could dwell on it too much they felt someone bump into them, not hard enough to knock them over but they did lose their balance ever so slightly, regaining it quickly though.
As she introduced herself they realised where he knew her from, the two of them were on the same team for the race they had done during the summer. "Oh, uhm. Hey. Yeah, no worries, it happens. The mirror looks nice and clean though. I'm doing good though, you?" Cringing at the way the words flowed out as smoothly as the cloth they were currently holding onto. They had noticed the room had become increasingly busy and it was starting to get ever so slightly overwhelming. Taking a deep breath they looked around at what still needed to be done and saw Rose, they hadn't noticed her coming up to them at all, with everything going on around them. Some of the tension they had been holding in dissipated ever so slightly "Hey. I thought I'd heard you might come, although I'm not sure how much more is left to do." A small nervous chuckle left them, noticing there was not much left to do. Especially as Rose then also used a spell to clean some of the windows.
"Okay, so I guess magic is the way to go. At least there's still some window for me to do". They thought, worrying a bit of the hem of their sleeves between their fingers and taking out their wand, pointing at some of the dirty windows and copying the other two spell casters. "Scourgify".
It was a lot easier, but there was something about cleaning stuff with your own hands that Mylo just couldn't explain. The quickness of magic did leave them wondering what to do next.

Divination had to be one of the prettiest classrooms in the school. All you had to do was see the way the little crystal balls shone in the light to agree. And yet it was a place where Maisie hadn't spent a great deal of time there as a first year.
In fact, she hadn't really given much thought at all to the subject of this room: fate. She was too busy, just trying to get to know the castle and perhaps make a friend or two. The cosmos and her place in it were elusive at best.
But she was not too shy to try and help—especially if chocolate frogs were on the line. She'd said as much to one of the girls she'd met on the train. After all, if you were going to spend time cleaning up, it was best to do so in a team. That made the time go faster.
When she arrived, it seemed plenty of students were already getting a head start on the tasks at hand. Squinting, she tried to take a survey of what might be left: folding curtains, locating some missing tarot cards, throwing out rubbish and some basic organization of the shelving in the room.
Swallowing, she was starting to move in the direction of the shelves, when she noticed the tea bags and hot water on offer. "Thank you," she said, "Just some peppermint would be lovely." When it was ready, she cupped her hands around the cup and set off towards the bookshelves first—they seemed the most essential for any classroom.
On her approach, she noticed two other girls were already making good headway on the shelves. She vaguely recalled both of them in the Common Room, but could not place their names. One looked completely finished with the shelf she had been working on. "That looks great—neat," Maisie said (perhaps a little too on the nose) as she came over. The other girl seemed very friendly, if a little nervous. "Do you need help? I'm Maisie," she introduced herself before looking around to pick her shelf.
"Seems you have the books in order," she explained, "I'll work on the candles."
And with a nod, she went over to start organizing a shelf full of candles. At first she was unsure what was the best way to go about doing it. By color? By size? By the smoothness of the wax? She thought about asking, but didn't want it to seem like too stupid a question. Maybe if her friend from the train was here, they'd have a plan. Until then, she just used her own artistic sensibilities and started to weave a rainbow out of the candles on the top row.

It had been a while since Evelynn had properly set foot in the Divinitation tower, not since she had finally decided to drop the course in favour of a more manageable timetable after the professor-at-the-time had been less than courteous about their--frankly unfounded--opinion that attempting to educate Evelynn on the finer points of the art was a waste of their breath. That encounter still frustrated her. In a moment of defeat and acquiescence that she need seek guidance from one more experienced than she, her doubts about hearing voices had been mocked and thrown back in her face. Not only had she left without any answers to the questions she'd sought to pose, she'd been humiliated and belittled. When the professor had taken leave of the castle--or been dismissed, she could never quite prove one way or the other--she had considered attempting to make a return to the eclectic classroom, but to do so would have meant having to choose between Ancient Runes or Care of Magical Creatures, something she ultimately couldn't do. And so she'd kept away.
At rumor of an errand to help the current professor refurbish a bit, however, Evelynn's curiosity had been piqued. A classroom was an opportunity to assess various facets of a professor. Were they neat? Orderly? What sort of decor did they prefer? Or none at all? How did they arrange their class? It was a way to figurately glimpse at the inner workings of their minds. And since Evelynn had already glimpsed the inner working of @Sereia Clairmont's mind once before in the form of a heartwarming memory of the holiday, it seemed only apt to compare it against her classroom. Plus, Evelynn did have a certain fascination with various forms of divination, drawn to cartomancy in particular.
Upon entry to the class, her eyes wandered its interior. It was largely the same as she remembered it, yet also entirely different. More inviting, in a way. Scanning those present, she noticed several familiar faces: @Emily Sheperd always seemed to find her way to such activities, the ball of sunshine having been an interesting addition to her improptu educating of younger years in near the forest the previous year. There was @Rose Moon as well, one of her long-time teammates on the Gryffindor duelling team. The two had never really properly, but were distantly acquainted in a sharing the same classes sort of way. Most of the others were younger years whose faces were vaguely familiar but whose names she would have had to fish from various memories to recall.
They were not what intrigued her in that moment, however, feet immediately gravitating towards the shelves. Two girls (Iris and Yolanda) seemed to be chatting amongst themselves as they organized and tidied up a pair of bookshelves stuffed to overflowing with various tomes and texts. Evelynn's fingers tingled with a desire to peruse their contents, to see if she could glean any novel notions from their titles and wisdom, but propriety dictated she exercise self-control and at least wait until the two had cleared away. A third girl (Maisie) had started puttering with the candles on one of the others and trying to arrange them in a coherent and pleasing way. Evelynn slotted herself next to her. It wasn't the candles that had drawn Eve's attention, however, but rather the cartomancy supplies. She only had a single deck, herself, a gold-leafed one with beautiful imagery. She had employed the deck for several readings for her tent-mates over summer, more for entertainment's sake than anything True, but the way she handled the professor's cards and items to imbue a reading with power and intuition suggested a desire for something greater. To See, to truly See and understand the visions and words and sensations that came to her. That would be the greatest gift.Action: Reorganizing cartomancy/other materials on the shelves

♫ back when we were card sharks, playing games ♫
✰
The Divination tower was somewhat of a refuge for Aly at times. There was no drama here other than half-baked, often ludicrous predictions of death, destruction, and random happenings that more than Aly liked turned out to be real; she was no Divination non-believer like some of her classmates, and she actually enjoyed the class, so much so that it had become one of her favourites over the course of the last year. Sure, weird stuff happened in this tower, but weird stuff happened everywhere in this school, didn't it? At least here, the weird stuff was supposed to happen.✰
Thus, she was more than happy to spend part of a Saturday cleaning up the place. Aly wasn't much one for organising - that much could be said with just a cursory glance at her trunk up in Ravenclaw Tower - but maybe this activity could help her learn to keep things just a little bit neater. Plus, she could definitely stand to walk across the Divination classroom even once a month without tripping over a stray teapot, and she would have loved pick up a single full deck of tarot cards throughout the previous year. So a bit of cleaning up couldn't go amiss.
Reminders of the many times she had grabbed a deck of cards, only to have to put it back and search for one that had almost all of its number, in the previous year egged the Ravenclaw sixth-year towards searching for missing cards in the professor's decks. Seeing a few of the younger years already peeking around the classroom, looking under tables and along the cracks in the floor, Aly naturally gravitated towards the shelves where tarot cards usually sat; maybe some had fallen behind the shelves or into the books, a cartomancy necessity lost in its companions. She had only scanned two bookshelves when - there, just under the third, a corner poking out.
Aly dropped to the floor and crawled, on her hands and knees, over to the bookshelf; using the corner of her fingernail, she pushed and poked and scraped at the card until it became visible enough from underneath the wood to grab it fully with the pads of her index and thumb. Yes, it was definitely one from the professor's decks, though her gaze strayed upwards to the person standing at the next shelves over before she could notice which one - and her heart stopped in her chest at the sight of scarlet curls... delicate, pale hands reorganising materials atop the polished wood. Grey eyes like a thundering sky, matching the thundering pulse in her neck that had come back twice as strong and thrice as fast.
Eve.
Aly had hardly seen @Evelynn Decipio since the summer ended. She had spent days at the redhead's house in Windermere, then a month sharing a tent in the London Quidditch Stadium - and before that month had ended, they'd shared more than just neighbouring sleeping bags. A mistletoe-induced kiss, and plenty of awkward chat and glances on the brunette's part. It had been Eve that had prompted Aly to make a side trip on her visit to Diagon Alley in August - to buy ingredients for a potion she had yet to brew.
Honestly, not seeing the Gryffindor save for a few incredibly brief and much-avoided interactions during their minimal shared N.E.W.T. classes had almost had the Ravenclaw believing that she wouldn't need to brew a certain antidote. But now... well, now the rush of adrenaline pumping through her veins just reminded Aly of exactly which priorities she'd let fall by the wayside.
Aly leapt to her feet and hastened for the door, mumbling to no one in particular, "'Scuse me - gotta go." She barely remembered to drop off the lone discovered card on the main table before she bundled herself out of what had once been her safe haven, taking the ladder two, three rungs at a time in her rush to escape. Clearly, no place was safe until she'd taken that damned potion.
Just got to brew it first.
