Wandering Around
She watched May, tears streaming down her face, and thought she seemed odd but very sweet. It must be hard to share this for her, I didn't even realize it was going to be such a hard question, Nova thought, watching her friend continue to cry and continue her story.
Nova could not even imagine her own father doing anything like that--Nova knows how much she means to his father. His eyes light up whenever Nova enters a room, and even when he's mad at her, he just can't seem to stay mad at her for long. Leaving? And never responding to letters? The idea broke Nova's heart, it just seemed so unlike anything her father or any father would do.
She wondered whether May's father was hiding something when he left, seeing through her own perspective as the only reason her father would ever think of abandoning her. The same way he abandoned magic, he'd abandon her if he knew it was for her safety and benefit. Nova shook away the thought, getting sad herself.
Nova turned from looking at her friend to look at the road ahead of them, realizing they were already at in the castle, just a few steps away from the hospital wing.
"I guess we're here," Nova said with a smile. "I'm glad I met you tonight May," she said genuinely.

Wandering Around
May smiled. She was happier then she'd been in a long time. She felt a little silly, perhaps talking to someone about these things is normal. But she felt silly, not stupid. May's blue eyes crinkled with a smile.
"Me too.", May said. "Well, I mean, I'm glad a met you, not that I'm glad to have met me, like you said-I-well you get the point.", May laughed. Normally, she would've scolded herself for saying something so stupid, but may laughed. May wasn't a different person, she was just a better version of herself.
"Bye, Nova.", May said quietly, biting her lip, trying to suppress her overwhelming smile. May even felt a little bit giddy. Her eyes had dried, and she almost forgot any reason she'd be crying.
May turned on her heel, her short wet hair whipped her cheek, but May grinned nonetheless. There was a certain hop to her step, despite the heavy clothing she carried. After she was a few paces away, May turned back around, glancing at Nova's dark hair shine under the moonlight. May sighed, pleased with herself, and carried on toward the West Tower, where she was unsure if she'd be able to sleep tonight after her near drowning, and her accomplishments involving her new fond friend.
