Justin smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. "Please don't tell no one. It would help to... ya know ... be myself around you."
Now one thing the firstborn of the Shin family was good at was picking up lies and misdirection. His little siblings always attempt to get away with things all the time. He observed Brooke correct herself as she offered to give Justin the galleons for his cat. The word 'parents' were quickly corrected to 'mother', clearly indicating a difficult relationship with her father.
Justin then responded to Brooke's proposal by shaking his head. "Those were a gift from your mother. I think it would mean it more to her if you spent it on yourself. I'm not your mom's son," Justin chuckled. He had no idea what issues Brooke had with her father. Divorce? Death? Negligence? Emotional scars? The boy had zero clue but he at least knew something was up.
"Brookline, just be yourself around me, k? We’re friends right? Families can be rough. I get it. Just be yourself." Justin repeated back to Brooke. He then chuckled at himself for a couple seconds before speaking again. "At your own pace though of course. Family is no trivial matter that you share with just anyone."
Justin stretched his arms. "It can be now, tomorrow, or even right before my deathbed in old age. Just promise me, you'll tell me eventually, especially when things get hard. I'm going to feel like a complete asshole if I crack jokes with you with my dumbass goofy smile when what you needed at the time is comfort and support."
Justin rubbed Tigeress' belly. "Don't you worry Tigeress. I'll get you a friend," Justin smiled in excitement for his future cat.

Who is there to tell? Andy? Someone-I-Don’t-Even-Bloody-Know-But-Is-One-Of-Your-Friends??” Brooke giggled. She was swinging her bag quite carelessly and forgot her things were in there. A blue notebook almost fell out. “Oops,” Brooks shoved the notebook back it, her eyes wide.
Brooke listened to Justin and nodded. She was gonna say something but Justin kept going. She giggled, Justin had repeated her words.
Cheeks redding, she spoke, “Alright, though you wouldn’t be asshole, nor yeh have a dumbass smile. I'm pretty good at hiding my emotions, yeh’ll barely know they’re there! Anyway, I like hiding my emotions, don’t like a huge mess. But if yeh want, I’ll tell yeh. At some point. Like what about 8 years from now?” Brooke giggled, thinking about how she would even tell Justin.
“Although, it might be better to show you. Yeh wanna come over for summer holidays? And Andy of course, if he wants to come. I'm sure my parents won't mind if yeh stay a day or two for their summer,” Brooke asked. She looked at Tigeress, she was mewing at some owls again. Hooting, the owls flew around the curious wild kitten.
When Justin rubbed Tigeress’s belly, she purred, her eyes shining. “Mew!” The brown tabby she-cat ran off, chasing the owls again.
“No, no, feathers are enough today. No owl on the menu today,” Brooke said when Tigeress had sprang up and bit a owl’s tail feathers. Giggling quietly, Brooke ran over to Tigeress and picked her up, her soft fur warming Brooke's hands. Feathers flew out of Tigeress’s maw as she tired to meow.
“Is this what yeh want Stripefang to be like? Curious and wild and full of excitement and mischievous, disobedient? Spoiled?” Brooke laughed, perfectly knowing why the wild kitten was so spoiled.

Justin smiled widely at Brooke. "I would want to know the rough things in your life too, of course. Friends exist to make each other's burdens lighter," Justin chuckled. "8 years is fine. We would be the bestest of friends by then," the boy laughed.
He then heard Brooke's invitation to come over in the summer. "That sounds fun. Let's do it. You have me coming for sure. Hopefully my partner in crime can come too."
Justin then observed Tigeress almost catch an owl for dinner. He nodded with approval and admired Brooke's little cat. "Impressive. Owls are known as apex predators. Tigeress really lives up to her name," Justin chuckled.
Justin scoffed at Brooke's teasing questions at the end. "Stripefang will be the definition of discipline," the boy proudly declared. "If he wants to be a member of my pride, Stripefang will need to be unbreakable and disciplined," the boy said, talking like a drill sergeant.
Justin walked over to the little tiger and began rubbing her belly. "Did mommy yell at you for hunting an owl? It's okay cutie. Good job. You're a real warrior. Owls are one of the strongest warriors in the sky," Justin laughed out loud as he began playing with Tigeress as if he was a cat himself. A technique he picked up while working with wild cats with his mother.
"How is she just like you?" Justin chuckled as he chased Tigeress. "Fearless, adventurous, and a little bit of sass," Justin chuckled.

“Yay! Hopefully he can come to!”Brooke exclaimed, scaring her kitten, and Tigeress ran off again.
“Yes, I wish she’d stop, and yes its impressive but what if she actually gets an owl and its not just a school one, it's someone’s pet?!” Brooke asked Justin.
As Justin spoke proudly about his cat, Brooke rolled her eyes, knowing her friend could not teach his kitten discipline. “Right, but, like, 80 percent are taught nothings, maybe you can but I kinda think you might not be able teach Stripefang. But..... I’ll be happy if you could. Maybe, you can teach Tigeress!!” Brooke knew how disobedient Tigeress was.
Rubbing her belly, Justin started speaking to Tigeress. Oh come on, now she’ll never learn, Brooke thought, then sat on the floor again, careful she didn’t sit in owl droppings, she laid on the floor, looking at the ceiling. Laughing she spoke,“Justy, don’t say that! She was looking for a yes, so she could still say. Tigeress, I, say no, he is not your girl, I...” Brooke started laughing so hard you could not get anything out of her. While she was laughing, Justin started playing with Tigeress like a cat. That just made her laugh even more.
When she calmed down, Brooke noticed that Justin was asking her a question. “I don't know.... hey! Maybe Merlin knows, go ask him,” Brooke said sarcastically, still lying on the floor. Holding her long thick braid, she placed it on her shoulder so it wouldn’t get droppings in it.

"I mean if they never find out... Not saying it's okay... but if they never find out..." Justy jokingly said.“Yes, I wish she’d stop, and yes its impressive but what if she actually gets an owl and its not just a school one, it's someone’s pet?!”
As Justin was playing with Tigeress and talking to the furry feline, Brookline began laughing out loud. Seeing Brooke laugh, Justin began laughing with her.
He noticed his friend being very cautious as she made sure no owl droppings touched her. Justin casually ran over to the broom in the corner and quickly swept the floor around Brooke so she could sit comfortably. He cleaned the floor with exceptional precision and experience. The boy often cleaned his father's restaurant as punishment because of his actions in school growing up.
Tigeress chased after Justin as he put the broom back in the corner. Justin pointed to his shoulder and the baby tiger swiftly ran up his body and sat on his shoulder. The boy leaned his head to the side as Tigeress leaned on his head. "Careful girl. Mommy might get jealous," Justin chuckled. He handfed Tigeress another piece of chicken.
Justin then grabbed Tigeress from his shoulder like a newborn baby in his arms and handed her to Brooke. "Show me some tricks you taught her. Let's see the bond between the feline and the Brook.. line. Get it?"

Reducio@Justin Shin Location:ReducioOwlery Thoughts & Speech:ReducioBrooke -- Thoughts = italics Speech Tigeress -- speech Quote:Reducio"Throw me to the wolves, and I’ll come back leading the pack,"✩✩✩✩✩✩Gasping, Brooke basically glared at Justin before she realized that he was joking. “Gee, do you want your Stripefang to be ripped apart by an horrid owl?” She spoke with sarcasm. “No, you do not, do you?” Brooke added, a smug smile on her face. Back talking was her thing. Much so her thing.
While lying on the floor, looking the ceiling, Brooke noticed Justin running over to a closet and grabbing a broom. Knowing what the Ravenclaw boy will do, she sat and tried to get out,“Y-you don’t need t-to-” Suppressing a sigh, she pulled one of her knees to her chest, watching Justin sweep the floor. He doesn’t have to do this for me, Brooke thought, she hated when people went out their way for her and she hated the way she couldn’t get out the words to stop them. If she would ever have a pet peeve that would be it. It absolutely annoyed her. But she seemed to not want to make things worst.
Watching her kitten and Justin play with each other, Brooke saw the tiger tabby climb Justin’s shoulder. Her bold green eyes flashing like a clean string melody playing, Tigeress paid no attention to Justin’s words and gobbled the piece of chicken Justin fed her. As Justin held the tabby like a baby, her small slim build seemed to curve around nicely in Justin’s arms.
Brooke smiled as her kitten was placed in her arms. As she was still sitting on the floor, she was watching her friend and kitten play; she obviously found it entertaining. But nevertheless anything Tigeress or Justin do together is entertaining. She'll never tell Justin, but she had always thought Justin could be hilarious most of the time, from right when they met, Brooke had thought that.
Standing up, Brooke spoke, “That’s definitely funny. And tricks? I haven’t done much with her, she’s really her own cat. She’s rather lazy, if you ask me or even quite energetic, that I can’t even work with her,” Giggling, she set Tigeress down.
Ok, here we go. “Sit.” Brooke held out her hand as if there actually was a treat in her hand. The smart kitty sat immediately. “Good girl,” She cooed, rubbing Tigeress’s brown soft ears. Mimicking her pose from before, Brooke commanded Tigeress to jump. Crouching at first, the tabby sprang up, her tail in the air, as if it was floating. “Great job!”
