Malin smiles after the girl, waving kindly as River exits.
So far, so good!
Malin watches until the very proper girl leaves, then checks her own time-telling device. Unlike River's ornate pocket watch, Malin had a beaten-down watch with a tiny flower hand-painted in the centre of the clock part. It had been her great-grandmother's, and Malin was proud to wear it, however many times she had to tap it to make it keep ticking.
She tapped the glass and the hands of the clock swooshed to their rightful places, resuming their hushed ticking. River was right, it was getting rather late and Malin was supposed to be back at the Gryffindor Common Room before dark.
She hurried quietly down the hallway, planning her masquerade outfit in her mind. She had a white dress that she had brought as a just-in-case, but she had no idea what to pair with the simple white dress. She wouldn't do an angel, as she knew a fellow student in her year was doing that, and she couldn't do a polar bear as she personally disliked the creatures.
She shrugged it off --she would figure it out eventually.
Arriving in her shared dorm, she quickly dressed in her sleeping wear --cotton shorts and an oversized top-- and, after reading for a little, she went to bed, falling asleep quickly to the sound of her snoring roommates.
