Perry glanced out the window, searching for Minnie. In these last few days of summer, she was really going to miss her. But she had to go to Ilvermorny, and Minnie was going to Hogwarts. They were going to watch some of the muggle show, Phineas and Ferb, one last time before they were separated. She smiled as she saw her friend walking to her house.

"Hey Minnie! Ready for some Phineas and Ferb?" She called out. Minnie opened the unlocked door and sat on the couch next to her.

"Yup! Perry the Platypus, am I right?" Perry laughed, knowing that the odd muggle show had a spy platypus named Perry, which was hilarious.

"Yup! Now in a more serious conversation...we'll be best friends forever, right? Even though we're not going to be in the same school?" Perry waited anxiously for Minnie's response, wanting it to be a good one.

"Per! Yes! We'll be besties for the resties!" Perry laughed along with Minnie, relieved.

"Yup. Besties for the resties. Now let's watch this episode of the strange muggle show!" She was ready to be with her best friend for the rest of the afternoon. After all, they were besties for the resties, and nothing could change that.

Minnie sighed as she went to the dungeons for another round of potions. It wasn't that she hated it, she loved the idea of using ingredients to make something new-like baking. But in reality, she was horrible at potions. So she was not pleased to be having a double block of potions.

When the class started, Minnie started adding the ingredients, and the cauldron made a hissing noise and turned blood red. Feeling slightly freaked out, she quickly backed away from the potion, bumping into someone. She blushed, but didn't move back, especially when the potion started to turn vibrant green and a sick kind of orange.

"Pumpkin pasties!" She muttered under her breath. "This is really bad. I should not be this bad at potions." She told herself, then flushed farther as she realized she was talking aloud to herself. "Sorry for interrupting you from your potion making."

Minnie slipped into thinking about Opal, and how she died.

It was a bright, sunny, morning. The kind where you'd never think anything bad could happen. Minnie was just finishing the clasp on her cloak when she looked outside and saw a fox. She laughed at it, thinking that it was cute, not a dangerous, deadly, creature.

She walked to breakfast and grabbed a tart, adding to her list of things going well today. 'Nice day, huh?' She said to Opal. Opal mewed in response. 'Hey, want to play outside today? We could use your new toy! This is a great idea. After lunch perhaps? Or maybe earlier? I'll go ask Mum if we can play in the meadow.' And with that, Minnie ran off to get Mum.

When it was mid-morning and the sun was shining brightly in the sky, Minnie took Opal out to the woods in the backyard. She walked along the path and soon was in an open clearing and a beautiful meadow. 'Time to play Opal!' She took out a plush mouse cat toy and waved it in the air. 'Here, I'll throw it and you fetch! Go!' She threw it, a bit too far. It landed right on the edge of the forest. 'Oops! To far!' She said as Opal ran over to grab the toy. But before she could, a little paw took it.

A tiny baby niffler had appeared out of nowhere and taken the mouse toy. Opal regarded the niffler with interest. 'Hmm. Let me come over here Opal.' She told her cat, and started to walk over. But suddenly, a growl came from inside the forest. A fox stepped out and looked at the niffler, licking its lips. Minnie took a step back. Foxes were mean creatures, and you were not to mess with them. Especially if they had prey. She looked sadly at the niffler. She didn't want to watch the little guy be killed. 'Opal. Come back!' She whispered to her cat. Opal looked up, looked at the fox, and stayed. 'What the-? No! Opal! It's not safe!' Opal ignored her and bared her teeth. She looked at the fox and leaped. The fox pulled away, scratched, and lunged at her-

Minnie forcibly pulled herself out of the memory.
