"The name's Cory Park". Hesitantly, she slipped her hand in Sophia's giving it a feeble shake. "it's a pleasure to meet you."

Sophia clutched Cory's hand tightly and shook it with severe pride. "Great to meet you, Miss Park," she said, nodding wisely.

(Prank alert!)
A bright pink light was shone out of Alecks' wand as the student that it hit got their hair turned a bright neon pink.

The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
Mackenzie sat quietly at the Gryffindor table, looking at the beautifully decorated room. Ever since she stepped off the boats onto the castle grounds she was in awe, she couldn't keep her eyes away. She came here knowing nothing of the school and the wizarding world, and now she was in Gryffindor and knew a ton of more information. Or, at least what the professors had said when she stepped in.
She had yet to actually make any friends. It was her fault, she hasn't made any effort to start a conversation with someone.
Mackenzie looks up at the commotion coming from the Slytherin table from the other side of the room. A very obnoxious boy had decided to play pranks on our table and also yell at some Hufflepuff's. She had overheard a conversation earlier, before getting sorted, that there had been no good witch or wizard that had come from Slytherin. Looking at the boy, she could understand.
Rolling her eyes, she turned to the plate of food in front of her and mumbled, "idiot.". There was so much food to choose from! She debated whether she wanted some steak pie or a mixture of everything. As she debated, she could hear two voices greeting each other right next to her. Their names were Cory and Sophia, they seemed like nice people to Mackenzie.
She wanted to desperately start up a conversation with them, but felt that it would be rude to interrupt. So, Mackenzie continued eating and observing everything happening among the Great Hall.

Sofia sat quietly as she continues to observe everyone, she looked up to see Mackenzie sit down.
She scrunched her nose and scratched the back of her neck.
Sofia still didn't have any luck talking to people, sending owls was easy but actually talking with your own voice? Terrifying.
Her eyes brighten up as she looks down to realize that she haven't touched any of her food, she wasn't really hungry at the moment to be honest, but it did look quite delicious.
But she didn't eat any, she didn't like eating infront of strangers, what if they thought she ate werd?
Sofia was indeed very hungry but, it doesn't matter, rather eat nothing than embarass myself.

The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
I was about to turn and leave the Gryffindor table when I see a girl that looks hesitant to eat.
"H-Hey. Are you okay? I noticed you aren't eating and it kind of worried me. I may seem rude, but I'm really not. That kid my spell hit, really does look better with pink hair, if you ask me. Well, My name is Alecksander, but you can call me Alecks. What's your name?"
'I really hope I'm not making her feel too awkward... I just feel like she needs to eat. Everyone needs to eat. Don't eat, you die. Even if someone wants to, I won't let them!'
I stand there, contemplating weather or not I should put a, possibly comforting, hand on her shoulder.
"Okay, so, if you aren't eating because you think other people will be rude about how you eat, don't worry about it. See that girl over there?" I ask, pointing at a girl eating mashed potatoes through a straw, "She has to eat like that because her body can't digest solid foods. But look, is she getting made fun of? No, and if someone did, there are people that would take the matters to the professors or even the headmaster if it doesn't stop. You can eat however you want, okay? Remember my motto: Be you, whoever you may be. And ignore all those haters."

Sofia looked up at the boy whos name is Alecksander with wide eyes, 'was he talking to me?' she though.
"My name is Sofia and yeah im totally okay it's just, i don't have an appetite right now... It's okay though, i never really eat so much so this won't make any damage to me"
Sofia forced a smile at him and with her free hand, she put her hair behind her ear so it was easier to see.
She chuckled at the last sentence Alecksander said
"But thanks, i'll try to eat more and im sorry, im not really used to people looking out for me or actually... Talking to me, sorry if im making it weird and akward.
The brunette said, kind of looking down to hide her face.
This was actually really nice, Sofia loved talking to people but she was afraid of how she would start the conversation or how she would introduce herself, but this time it went pretty well.
Alecksander really seemed like a nice guy, he wasn't too hyper or super loud, he had this aura around him that Sofia found really interesting, thats why tried her best not to make a foul out of herself.

The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
A rather lanky first year shuffled over to the table and paused. Where was he supposed to sit? For a moment, he drifted around the table, before settling on the more unpopulated end of the table. Quickly, he glanced at the others in his new house, silently debating whether or not he should try talking to them, but was overcome with nervousness at the mere thought. Hm. Some Gryffindor he was.
Alex sank into his seat. Why was he even there? The idea of being brave was a nice one, but that's all it was- an idea. Frankly, he had anticipated being sorted into Ravenclaw. Was he simply not as intelligent as he thought himself to be? He frowned to himself, and redirected his attention to the sorting ceremony. Might as well just get this over with.

The Gryffindor Table 2017-2018
Iris, a small yet a mighty one that she is, walked over to the Gryffindor table with a smug look on her face and her head tilted up high. Her tight brown curls bounced with every step she took. She found a random seat somewhere near the populated end of the table, her sharp light eyes scanned over everyone for a moment as she continued to have that knowing look on her freckled face. Of course, it was expected that she would be sorted into Gryiffindor. Why basically half of her family relatives have been sorted into this housing for the past couple years, besides the occasional ravenclaws. She was more excited than nervous. Iris looked forward to getting to know everyone, however her mind was more set on discovering and exploring hogwarts once she got the chance. Maybe she would find an aquaintance to help her...

Danielle sighed avoiding homework the best she could, she just wanted to study magical creatures and discover new ones. That's all she wanted to do with her life. She was too nervous to go to class. Then again she didn't pay much attention to the first day in most of her classes.
She began eating, pulling her hair up into a messy braid or more like tried to failing horribly. That's when her older sister came to sit down with her to give her a sturn talking to about going to classes, and how she must study for every subject if she wanted to get anywhere here at Hogwarts, while Danielle messed with her food.
"Calm down, Emmy, I'll get to it, just let me get used to the place first?" Danielle asked her sister.
"No, Dani, mom and dad will be angry with you, and pull you out of Hogwarts..." Amelia sighed.
